    Lesson 27 - That, Those
    These are REAL lessons. No actors. No scripts. A real learning experience.
    Do you know a friend or family member who needs to learn English? Tell them they can learn along with Natasha as I teach her the basics of the English language.
    I will not be posting captions (subtitles) on these early lessons. I want beginners to develop their listening skills. Happy Studies to all!

    Hello.
    Determiners go before nouns.Here are examples of demonstrative adjectives. = those people, that woman, these shoes, that desk
    Pronouns replace nouns. They refer back to a noun. Here are examples of demonstrative pronouns. = This is easy. That is hard. These are beautiful. Those are expensive. I want that. I like this.

  • @Englishwithjennifer
    @Englishwithjennifer  Před 12 lety +2

    @8Juster
    No. The difference you are describing is the difference between A/ AN and THE.
    A/ AN = first mention or general reference
    THE = second mention or specifc reference
    This/ these = reference to a singular object close to us
    These/ those = reference to objects far away from us
    Does that make sense?

    2. These students are beginners, and those students are advanced.

    1. Follow this series. There are 65 lessons. More will come. 2. Use other videos of mine with captions. Observe which punctuation I use and how I form sentences. 3. Read. Read. Read. I have Study Tips about reading on my website. Reading helps you with your writing. You learn vocabulary, spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation. 4. You can write to me on my community forum and I can offer some corrections there. Good luck!

    Why one cloth made of jeans we have to say these are jeans? Thanks😊

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 26 dny +1

      Yes, it's one piece of cloth, but we think about the two legs/feet: a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, a pair of shoes. If "pair" is the subject, it's singular. But JEANS, PANTS, SHORTS, SHOES are plural. Hope that helps.

    Ha ha. I'm sorry that the chalk on the board makes unpleasant sounds. For now, we're limited in resources. I'm teaching Natasha in her home, and her son's room happens to have a wall with a chalkboard. My small white dry erase board isn't big enough for our lessons. We're looking into other possibilities. Thanks for your understanding and patience. :)
