    Well S-400 has excellent missiles. But antiquated radar, fire control and IFF. A combination that makes it deadly to friendly aircraft, and requires frequent shutdowns of air defense. With radars the situation is bad because while Russians make them powerful and use correct bands for correct tasks - they somehow fail at providing clear picture. Their radars see objects far away, but are unable to classify/identify them. Just like in western radars, algorythms are used to filter out the noise unrelated objects like birds and stuff - but Russian radars seem to often filter out valid enemy aircraft/munitions from view.
    What I want to say is that key feature of S-400 is it's unreliability. One time it will snipe aircraft at 100 km perfectly fine, another time it won't even react to enemy within range, and yet another time it will shoot down a friendly aircraft. It's all over the place.
    Technically western systems are less capable - but 80-90% efficient at what they do, Russian systems are more capable but give you 50/50 chance of working as intended.

But Patriot is also more limited system - It only does this ~120 km range / short ballistic defense. It does it well.
      But S-300/S-400 has A LOT of different missiles reaching out to like 400+ KM with crazy large missiles, to very nimble rockets with ~30 km range. S 300/S 400 also has it's own early warning radars - something that for Patriot needs to be provided externally by different systems - so it is more... self - contained than Patriot, you can use it by itself and it will work, Patriot needs to have other systems supporting it to be effective.

    Let's not forget the failure of the S-400 to defend and take down the Storm Shadow missiles that devastated the Black Sea Fleet's HQ which was an incredibly well defended point, not only by the S-400 but with an overlapping BUK, TOR and Pantsir systems. They all failed to detect or at least engage and take down the incoming stealthy Storm Shadows.
    We've seen what the Ukrainians did and are still doing to the "legendary", "vaunted" and "the best air defense systems in the world". Now imagine NATO taking a shot with all its might, including the 5th gen stealthy fighter jets combined with the B-2 stealth bombers. Now add the 4th gen fighters carrying the long range stealthy missiles in massive numbers, missiles like the aforementioned Storm Shadows augmented by the much longer ranged JASSMs plus the Joint Strike missile, high speed anti radiation missiles and last but not the least - the mighty Tomahawks fired from the destroyers and submarines...
    Imagine how well would the Russian integrated air defense system cope with all of the above... The Russian Armed Forces would be decimated within a week and Putin would directly threaten specific cities with a nuclear attack an hour after the demolition of his forces started... Of course, nobody would ever want to send a single NATO soldier on the RUssian territory, but the nuclear threats would be responded with a gentle reminder that the multiple NATO members are the nuclear powers themselves so any use of the weapon would result in a response in kind so therefore is a non starter,...

      Public information shows the 35 @ 0.001 and the 22 @ 0.0001. No these are not accurate numbers. The 22 is a little better than 0.00001.

      @AbruptandOffensive Před měsícem +5

      The F-35 is more cumulatively stealthy than the F-22. The F-22 is more standalone stealthy than the F-35.
      Its harder to see and track an F-22 simply flying in stealth mode compared to the F-35 but the F-35’s ability to jam enemy radar and then kill it from BVR makes it more untrackable and unhittable than the F-22 alone. Once the F-35 goes EW, it’s essentially invisible, even more “stealthy” than the F-22.

    • @cruisinguy6024
      @cruisinguy6024 Před měsícem +2

      The F-22 is stealthier as it has the RCS of 0.0001m2, about the size of a bumblebee (same as a B-2). The F-35, the RCS is 0.005m2 or about a golf ball however the F-35 has a weakness in the rear due to the large nozzle. For comparison the B-1 with its low observable design has a RCS of 10m2, and the F-15 25m2. Of course it’s not so cut and dry but the F-35 was never intended to be more stealthy than the F-22 and B-2 as that would have significantly increased the cost and hurt its multi purpose design. The F-35 from the front has a slightly smaller RCS than the F-117 but keep in mind the F-117 was also designed for IR stealth, from the rear the F-35 is a big bright red juicy target.
      The important thing to remember is the F-22 and B-2 are 1980s tech. Think about how ancient that is in technological terms - the smartphone in your pocket is far more capable than a supercomputer when these planes were designed and back then a mobile phone was the size of small briefcase. The technology in the NGAD and B-21 programs is probably 30 years ahead of any foreign nation, heck it’s taken Russia and China 35 years and they still can’t come remotely close to the 40 year old tech of the B-2 or F-22. Think about for a moment.

    The 140mm main gun that Nexter is pushing instead of the Rh-130 - the result of more than a decade of development by the leading producer of tank guns - uses some kind of telescope technique for the ammo and doesn't even exist as a prototype yet.
    What is known however is that in it's current design it would produce 19MJ kinetic energy for the projectile, compared to 20MJ for the Rh130.
    Now maybe there's potential for improvement, but until they improve the gun, it is inferior to the Rh130 despite the significantly larger calibre.
    For comparison, the Rh130 sports no less than an increase in kinetic energy of 50% for.APFSDD projectiles leaving the barrel compared to the Rh120 L/55 used in the Leopard 2A7V and still an increase of about 40% compared to their newest Rh120 L/55A1 with their newest APFSDS round utilized on the Leopard 2A8 and available as an option for the KF51 - for users that don't want to buy into a tank with only a single company providing ammunition of the right calibre.

    what a stupid reasoning ..... the S-400 complex is an element of the deeply layered defense of the Russians. The complex itself works in a network with other complexes, satellites, and radar reconnaissance aircraft. The S-400 complex is covered by mobile small air defense installations Pantsir and Tor, as well as aviation. Pantsir and Thor shoot down enemy missiles and cruise bombs with a high degree of probability. The S-400 system itself may not emit, but use data from other systems. A separate S-400 system, of course, cannot see low-flying targets beyond the horizon line, due to the roundness of the planet. In Ukraine, the S-400 shot down many Ukrainian aircraft using data from reconnaissance aircraft. The S-400 itself is about 15 years ahead of the Patriot system, in terms of launch range, radar systems, mobility of the complex, and the speed of deployment of the complex. The S-400 shoots in any direction, unlike the Patriot. And Russia produces more anti-aircraft missiles than the United States and NATO countries combined.

    • @KSmithwick1989
      @KSmithwick1989 Před měsícem +1

      The obvious problem is that the launch unit only carries 4 missles. For example, a Patriot PAC-3 battery with 8 launch units has 128 missles. While a S-300 /S-400 battery with a launch units only has 32 missles.
      Also, integrated air defenses are not unique to Russia.

      @@KSmithwick1989 Can you imagine missiles hitting an airplane at 60 km and 400 km? They are very different in size, so the ammunition is different. The S400 will also receive missiles from the S 500 complex with a range of 600 km. At such a range, the complex can fire and change position before a retaliatory attack occurs. I work not far from the C-400 fields, and I saw them moving very cheerfully after each repulsed attack from Ukraine

      @@championknife To honestly, no I can't imagine S-400 using S-500 missles. As the physical dimensions don't make sense. S-500 carries a pair of larger missles. It serves as an analog to the US THAAD, which carries 4 missles despite being about the size of S-400. With less support vehicles than either.
      As for firing and leaving, you're not doing that with S-400/S-500. Those launch units are not independent of the support vehicles. The command vehicle, various radar complex vehicles, and mobile relay antenna are the real targets.
      Those are not going to suddenly drive off. Especially considering the huge amount of cables from the power generation vehicle linking everything. The Battle Management Radar and relay antenna are also on semi-trailers, that takes some time to hitch backup.
      If you're making statements like that. Then you certainly have never either been around heavy trucks. Or even seen the different elements of the complex.

    What also shines through with all these insights: You don't even need a gen. V fighter to give an S-400 a good punch on the nose. The S-400's piss-poor performance at low level detection would enable the good old MRCA Tornado to snuff it. There still is no equivalent to the Tornado's low level cruise speed among manned aircraft in the world. A Tornado probably would be invisible to the Ruzzian radars to less than 10 Km range, flying at Mach 0.8 at tree-top level. WELL within the killing range for AGM-88, Brimstone and Hellfire missiles. As in the integrated air defence mentioined in the video the S-400´s radar would provide target information for BUK and Pantzirs these would be useless to the same degree as the S-400 itself, and left to their own radar devices probably do even worse.
    All the S-400 hype turns out to be the well known Ruzzian mix of arrogance and ignorance in their overly noisy self-promotion. A rhetoric well known from boozers who successfully boozed themselves into dementia and turned aggressive.

    Its more like your video is a joke. S400 wasn't used in Syria for political reasons because Russian instalations weren't attacked and shooting down US missiles would cancel the non aggression pact they had back then and possibly trigger WW3. F-117 is actually stealthier than both F-35 and F-22 in real world since F-117 has the lowest real RCS dettected at -29.1dB, 0.0012m2 from targeting radar when it was shot down while F35 RCS is rumored to be 0.0015m2 but probbably way more because of too much reliance to stealth coating. And Israeli F-35 was actually hit back in 2017 in Syria with S-200. And even tho S-400 has its limitations its still by far the best AD system in the real world.
