    There’s an easy way to fix this. If you’re not interested in playing by the rules of the competition then don’t enter. Any team that refuses replays is refusing to play in the cup at all for that season simple as. Suddenly everyone will see how valuable a core part of the fa cup heritage is.

      I thinks thats in intresting idea but we might have a situation where the lower clubs wanting the big prem clubs for that extra revenue just dont show up, so creates small v small games and further deminishes the FA Cup.

    Rightfully so. Fixture congestion for the top level clubs should be reduced, but why remove FA cup replays in round 1 when the top level clubs only participate in round 3 onward? Reducing the round 1 and 2 fixtures will only harm the lower league clubs that need the matchday revenue more than anyone. They've got a right to compensation imo.

      Top level clubs play the fewest games. 8 fewer league matches, start cups at later rounds and most of the epl don’t play in Europe each season and the few that do have the largest funds for the biggest squads to rotate. There really isn’t any good excuse to abolish fa cup heritage like this.

    It’s clear to see that the premier league has placed pressure on the FA, as they believe match replays could affect the quality of their product (The Premier League), which means potentially less revenue in the long term. They’ve also promised £33M to trickle down to Grassroots Football; There are 18,000 grassroots teams in England, meaning that each team (Hypothetically) gets a cut of £1,833 over a period of time… This is nothing in the grand scheme of things!! This is just another reason why I’m boycotting watching the Premier League; And we need to start calling it what it is… The English Super League!!

    People talking about the financial implications but the fan experience will suffer far more. For many, many supporters the highlight of the season is the anticipation of the draw for the FA Cup and to force a draw at a higher league club and bring them back to your home ground for a midweek fixture under the floodlights is what sustains the romance of supporting a smaller club. Sure, give the owners recompense and they'll just give it to the players in higher wages. The joy that the fans will lose as a result of this. The excitement that fans will lose as a result of this. The highlight of many a season that fans will lose as a result of this, they can't be replaced with Premier League cash. Sometimes a big cup replay can bring a former supporter back to the club. That could mean a season ticket being renewed for a couple of years. The rekindling of interest in a club that normally gets little exposure. That's more important than cash in the long run. The pyramid is being choked off by those at the top and those meant to protect the game at all levels. Disgraceful.

    It exemplifies the continued devaluation of the FA Cup to the Premier League clubs. An all inclusive cup is wonderful in principle and heritage but small clubs and their fairytale stories do not consistently attract the crowd (physically or via broadcasting) and football is only about money, I think that is something everyone can agree even if we may lament such a reality

    One way to fix the fixture congestion is for the clubs who qualify for Europe not to play in the League Cup. And here`s scenario. My club gets Man United or Arsenal at home in the FA Cup and get a draw after 90 minutes and therefore in previous years get a replay at Old Trafford. Are the PL willing to pay the full compensation of our possible earning for that such a replay would generation for my club which could be between 750 k to 1 millions quid? No I didn`t think so

They have the money and the power you have tradition which one wins. they the big clubs wanted to break away with a European super league let them go just think of the benefits , A fair league no ffp , the so called big seven not in the league or FA cup , football would survive ,every team with a chance of winning or of being relegated with a set amount of money to spend ,plus a better chance for home grown talent, It will happen sooner or later anyway . No Man city 112 charges No Chelsea spending a billion while smaller clubs go under, look at the championship the most exciting league of all ,then maybe the FA cup will mean something go ahead ,we dont need the greed, true football fans would welcome the change.

    How are crap teams like Forest, Luton and Burnley playing more games than championship or league 1-2 clubs? They have less matches in their league, they get higher seed in cup competitions, they have 0 international competition. In fact everyone except 8 clubs from PL has it same. It just shows that Premier League clubs and their owners dont even care for any revenue generated from matches. All of them are just owned by rich owners that play real life Football Manager. Shame on every PL club that voted for this and will run back crying next season they cant withold FFP rules bcs of loss of revenue, bcs they are "small club".

  • @fozthepoet8274
    @fozthepoet8274 Před 14 dny +1

    It should be a diplomatic decision from both teams. If one side wants a replay after a drawn first game then that's what will happen. If neither side does then it'll go to extra time/ penalties. This way smaller clubs can earn the extra revenue of a replay from bigger clubs, and sides of equal stature need only play one game if they want to focus on there respective league.
