73 and still trying harder. I tried the Stop Pulling. The V shape will take some getting use to. I did throw a stand still, Shark, out to 215'. Then to 220'. I will keep practicing.
Dude! Where in the hell has this tip been all of my life? I tried this and instantly felt the difference. Thanks a ton!
This drill is turning out to be pretty game changing.
You can use it for a lot more than just feeling the whip. I'm starting to use it to get a feeling of keeping a tight grip but loose wrist. To flatten out my swing plane from the reach back to follow through and keeping my nose angle down.
Found u can expand on this further to add in timing mechanics for the coil, double move and hit... And I can do it at home gripping a disc. Game changer.
I just came back from a back injury and was throwing with all arm
And hurting my back.
Focused on this video for two weeks. I can now play two rounds in one day again.
Thank you sling shot. This video is the new hidden gold. Sent this to two of my friends struggling with consistency
Best tip of all time, love your videos! This one thing just added 50-75 ft on my throw and increased my accuracy. Thanks Coach!!
This drill really helped me. I could immediately identify the difference and now I can tell with a lot more clarity when I have a good whip and when I'm pulling with my shoulder. Thanks!
I can’t even tell you how much this drill helped me understand what the “whip” was and how to implement it. I literally added 50ft with my putter in about 15min of practicing this!
That’s great news
Man Its black friday. Im going to buy your disc golf program !
Few of us been teaching to stop pulling for a few years now.
Good to see someone else posting to stop it.
i sub, you are a funny guy when you explaining 👍🙂
This is the best tip ever. Thank you so much.
Happy late Thanksgiving to Coach T. I am going to come visit soon & play some disc golf w ya
Yessir!
Thanks Coach for the holiday gift!
This method connects the most with my brain when I’m throwing the glitch. The spin you get feels right.
Dig that, esp for a disc you're throwing on stand still most times. Gonna try tomorrow.
Awesome! Thank you!
The explanation of taking your shoulder out of the equation and it just being a re-extension of the forearm from the chest, but you turn your body with it. That really made it click for me. Excited to take this out to the field and practice.
If you “turn your body with it” you are eventually going to be pulling all of your shots to the right for RHBH. You have to have a PASSIVE off arm/shoulder and pull through. As soon as the offside starts to rotate inward you are creating a new alignment with your shoulders as they are turning towards the right. This will gain RPM but lose considerable accuracy.
Who cares if you can throw far if you can’t throw accurately?🤷🏻♂️
Hermano SPICE BOI. I am also feeling tip of the whip spicy today. Woke up and my wife said “Blind John I love you but I want a Divorce” . What a fantastic post Thanksgiving present. We have been fighting for years. Now that i can ditch the nagging wife I can finally have the time to rehab my Broken fingers and get out to the disc golf course. Perhaps in a year or two i’ll be the Michael Jordan Phelps of disc Golf. Cheers!
I started playing again last June after not playing for 8 years. I used to have an audible snap when teeing off. You're video makes sense as to why I'm not getting that anymore. I'll let you know if this helps to bring back my snap. Thank you for making this video.
total newb here. thank you for this!!!
You are doing the lords work sir! Thank you very much. This is the first and only video i've watched that after I went out and practiced what I saw there were immediate changes. I went from a 250 backhand to a 350 backhand in a little over an hours time. Once you feel what he is talking about it will just start to click. Now I just got to start working on the other aspects of my run up to hopefully get 400 someday.
Added 732ft to my Zone drives because of this thanks!
So you’re throwing about 1,000’ now?
This one finally clicked for me thank you
rofl, im up to 900 feet now watching all these distance vids.
Keep working. Soon you will get to 1,000 like me!
Definitely helps distance and form control, preash on tutorial my guy
Brother my son and I just started playing and this week will be out third time at a corse
Great Video Coach T. We need a birds eye view video one day.
Awesome!
Good drill to throw "out" - spin and throw
I havent seen this V idea from anyone else. If it can add 50-100 feet... Additionally this looks like a great drill for working on standstill upshots. Which i really need help with.
Hope it helps!
Love everything about this video. Thanks coach T. Happy holidays from the owner of ChisleyBear Studios. This is my personal account lol.
I appreciate you man!
It's good for beginners to start with the straight line to determine out of the habit of rounding. Once they have the muscle memory down they can start to unwind out of the power pocket.
The shot you showed with Drew - you said “on short shots,” does this apply to longer drives as well?
Thanks Coach for this! This helped me learn how to be more controlled and has shaved a few strokes off of my scores
in 1 hr you had time to play?
@@MichaelFloyd12 ah, I see :D
@@thomaswinzy haha, I’ve been using these drills and tips from Coach T for the last year and it’s helped a lot
@@cola57_dg good for you :)
Was that Drew Gibson camera shot from Overthrow Disc Golf?
Yes. 🙂
@@NickCarrollI thought so. He should at least give credit to where the video came from
My shoulder thanks you.
😂 that’s great news!
Hi T great video but i i watch your throws in slowmotion and some are not good but what is the goal, is it to release the disc at 90 degree and shoulder turned to 45 degree with no overarm motion what so ever, the arm should be like a stick at release, straight that is, is that best, some of your throws are more than 90 degree at release, is 90 degree optimal for sling shot method ?
Love the overhead view! Great visual coach! 🔥
Thank Overthrow Disc Golf as it came from their videos.
Just as if there is no power pocket there is no straight pull. It helps to think of momentum straight forward.
Great explanation.
I use the line and pull kinda shot for line drives or hitting gaps but then when I'm in the open and want max distance I go out, in, out or throw.
I even used to do this weird thing where I opened up my wrist when I reached back, then closed and opened it as I threw. I actually used to throw far like this but it messed up my grip and was just inconsistent lol! It was kinda like the way Anthon will take his thumb off b4 throwing...I didn't even know I was doing it till someone told me
This is what your course is missing, shots on a course. Great video.
Well, I know how I am spending my Thanksgiving weekend
It looks like your arm is still using the same V, but when you add body rotation, that "flattens" it out.
Yes. Adding the rotation puts it all into place!
@slingshotdiscgolf1897 so the V muscle memory doesn't change when you add the torso rotation? I just want to be clear and make sure I'm understanding your point.
Thanks!
@@SoloBattles the muscle memory doesn't change, and the arm effectively acts the same relative to the body, so start slow and controlled as Coach T recommended in the video, and try his progression out as you throw farther and farther this way. 🙂
The arm is not like a whip. It has pivot points. That’s the best way to understand it.
What would you say is the most important part to jump from 500+ to 600+? I’m not saying I can throw 500ft I’m just curious what you think
Faster run up. More athletic and aggressive. Or adding the double move rubber band effect if your form is sub par. Treat it like basketball
Or get ahold of me lol and I’ll teach you!
How far are those upshots? They look dialed in
Are you saying that throwing with a deep pocket is bad and people should stop? Just want to make sure I'm interpreting you accurately.
Thomas Gilbert bombs and is someone that gets the whip on a straight line and idk how he does it but he said practice feeling the whip while standing close to a wall so you have to pull through on a straight line and heres the video - czcams.com/video/8qLAe2UPNDI/video.html - for me the v shape pull through is easiest but i can almost see what Gilbert is doing you get serious lag his way
As soon as you started throwing to the basket, you didnt do any of the V motion
The v motion is still there, the motion is just keeping a right angle with your upper arm and chest and just extending your forearm out in out.
Adding torso rotation is what flattens out the V into what looks like a straight line, but you haven't changed the arm motion at all.
There are a bunch of new F2 Rats at my local Play it Again Sports
Pulling the whip is unmatched in terms of profitability in physics terms. My old coach Mr Angove was a big religious freak who would tell me i was no go to anyone. So I put x lax in his coffee.
What's the point, nub?
Wtf are you talking about?
Hips and shoulders should be coming through at the same time which makes for smooth release your pushing leg should be in front of you after release aswell , remember that throwing smooth will give you longevity in throwing with out injury over time
Those clothes are getting big coach. GJ. I'm glad you found your calling, careful with the ego though.
Never picked up on an ego.Not even once.
@@gordonbaker9412 My definition of ego might be different then yours. its not something negative, just something to control. we all have one, its who we are when we get further from nature. its something to satisfy and sometimes let go of. Pride can make your ego take over and remove you from the circle of life. "imagine if I made that" is a sign that he wants to convince us instead of letting the results speak for themselves.
That's the job of a coach, to convince us to do it right, but he obviously wants to be good himself. If pride takes over you will convince your ego you are doing it right. I'm just trying to help, sorry if I offended anyone.
@@thomaswinzy I think your clarification is fantastic. Thank you for sharing it.
@@NickCarroll Thanks you. Meditation is one hell of a drug. I should have realized it came off as calling him out.
This is a terrible way to improve your game as an am, the whole purpose of pulling through the pocket is for maximum accuracy all you need it to focus on arm speed at that point. Letting your arm come out then in then back out again is a recipe for “spraying” shots all over the place due to the biomechanics of the shot and having your arm whip around instead of straight through. Bad take and really weird how people still follow this guys teaching…
If you “turn your body with it” you are eventually going to be pulling all of your shots to the right for RHBH. You have to have a PASSIVE off arm/shoulder and pull through.
