One thing to remember about Agnea, if you make her a scholar, she CAN spread Advanced Magic with her X to everyone in the party, so in a mage line-up, it's INSANE
I always like to start with throné to immediately get the inventor class and catapult all the mobs for easy encounters. Plus you can get temenos immediately after and use all their nighttime buffs for easier training and buffs

That’s a great last team especially for the grinding aspect like you mentioned. How good is thief that you can’t replace her for osvald?
Osvald, Temenos, Throne, Ochette and Agnea, Hikari, Partitio, Castti will be my both teams.

I definitely started with Osvald, and am loving he elemental magic capabilities! It reminded me of my guy Cyrus a little bit from the first one!
I liked Cyrus more tbh I don't have to waste a turn to evolve his magic

Started with Ochette, she's a great pick as a physical and elemental coverage. Upset that I didn't pick the owl for greater elemental weakness coverage 😭(But I still like Akala.) For my current main party I've got Hikari, Oswald, Tenemos, and Ochette. Which is great for damage and survivability. Though I'm probably going to sub out Tenemos for someone more buff orientation. So either Dancer or Apothecary.

This team has carried me through many tough battles. All of them bring what I need when I need it
Only started playing this game never played the first one. Started with Throne and currently have Temenos, Osvald and Partitio with me. Still at the early game but I’m thinking about sticking with this team until late. Idk know what 2nd jobs should I choose for each traveller since secondary jobs hasn’t been introduced yet aside from inventor
I am definitely starting with Osvald. For the following reasons (1) I love his story and vibe, (2) he starts off with analyze and passive to see weaknesses (generally just good, but also if they have achievement for analyzing all enemies again this is golden to start off with), (3) he can scrutinize people (hidden items = free loot; really good to start with), (4) he can mug (a violent form of steal; free loot > purchased loot), and (5) his location on the map allows you to go clockwise and recruit everyone.
i was actually thinking of running with hikari agnea castti and osvald but you sold me on the comp you are running
Im gonna start with ochette throné osvald and then im kinda not sure with the last one. Hikari or Castii but propably castii cause i need a healer. Maybe switching out throné for hikari even if she is my 2 favourite char
Very excited to play the game in a few days. The party I will be starting with is Partitio, Osvald, Throné and Agnea. I feel this will be nice and balanced. Though, I might swap Throné for Hikari or Ochette.

I want to go pure melee and being able to be maxed buffed at the start of battle and start with or give max BP the whole party, hope that's possible
On the last team you showed, who is going to be your healer?
I started with hikari and then got castii then partitio then agnea and then I went to the other side of the world and got the other 4 but I haven’t done any of their stories yet I’ve only done hikaris story up to chapter 2

Is there a way to make the fight always start your turn with a certain character? it seems to be random at times for me, even when i equip speed modifiers on a character or arranging them differently
I don't think it's fixed but speed helps
Heal wounds also works with advanced magic
i picked ochette, and used osvald/throne/agnea for most of the game before i beat ochettes ch4 and it went like a breeze the entire time.
I get the feeling it won't be hard to turn hikari into a mini warbringer

Going into the game completely blind I chose Hikari as my main, picked up Cassti next, then Ochette, and last Temenos. I found it to be an incredibly well-balanced and versatile starting group. I'm up to about 4th chapter on all four of them and so far its been a breeze.
That’s an awesome team actually! I started with Throné because I started a few weeks after release so so I had already heard a bit about her character and story and I just loved her the most. Hikari, Cassti and Temenous seem like a good balance but I still don’t know enough yet to say for sure. I didn’t play the first one and I’ve barely started this one so I’m sure that’s open to chance.
Do you guys do 4 characters whole story first then the next 4?
Hikari is just so many levels of cool. Not only does he look sick but he is a warrior type blue mage. Which is incredibly unique.

@exmerion nah, I was just saying I started with those 4 and got all of them to their fourth chapter before I switched my team up at all.
I really struggle with the team setup 😅 since I only played the first game a little bit and got no clue how to build my 2 teams. Got Agnea as starter. Team is basically 4 from the west, Agnea, Hikari, Castti and Partitio. Recently got Ochette too. Also the secondary jobs, No Idea how to set up 2 squads+ secondary jobs, once I got everyone 🙈
I’m constantly switching out my party to complete different side quests but here is one of the setups I like to use:
Osvald with Warrior
Ochette with Inventor
Castii with Dancer
Tenemos with Scholar
*Tips/Input Encouraged* I have a lvl 41 Ochette w 2nd job hunter, 33 Hikari subjob hunter, 42 Osvald with merchant for now, 42 Castti with cleric.. is this a good build?
I wish or hope that we get the option to change ochette’s pets later in the game but will be starting with the owl since i love casters in any rpg’s
You go to the island to recruit ochette and skip the first chapter not only you choose a companion. But also show a message saying that you can change it later.
The last game was good but so far it this one seems like it innovated so much more insofar as jobs and play style. Hikari being a samurai Blue mage blew my mind lol. I started with Agnea because she's the cutest.
I went in the game blind and ran Hikari, Oswald, Throne, Castti. Could nuke mobs no problem and later on when i unlocked Brandt's Blade, Hikari just destroys bosses with Throne's def reduction.

probably would have made osvald the inventor but yeaa like the setup
My starting team is merchant,warrior,dancer,and osvald. Team b will be the rest
I'm starting with Partitio. I'm just going to go from one side of the map to the other. Agnea, Hikari, and Castti will be my first companions.

Western Travelers and Eastern Travelers. I’m doing the same thing haha. Castti to Hikari to Partitio to Agnea.
Farming with Bewildering Grace right now, but will meet the other four travelers when the game comes out.
I’ve gone the opposite route. Osvald, Temenos, Throne and Ochette. Mainly because I was interested in Osvald`s story - I love a good revenge story. I hear Partitio opens up a lot of game though.

I know for me and I'm basing it on looks and character concept for me is osvald throne Hikari and the girl with animals, but I'm sure I'll figure out a suitable team

Just like the 1st game having the thief as your main character makes sure you never have to pass a locked chest... will start with that first then warrior followed by healer
There does not seem to be any locked chests in this game so far.

with your last team how will you deal with healing? rely on items until secondary jobs? thats a long time
agnea can heal she is just not great at it and needs to use a dance. I think between that, items, hikari self healing I will be fine but we shall see
We dont know jet how long it takes to get secondary jobs.

What the best way to finish the game? Focus on one character story first or doing together
Do them all at the same time if you want the best combat balance.
Do them one at a time for the most engaging story telling imo

I went with throne, osvald, akiri and ochette
I couldn't even get a second teammate without dying all the time.
Went in blind and picked Agnes for my started, had to reroll because her story is not to my taste
Is it true your first 4 characters are locked until Chapter 4?
Your first character counts as your protagonist and cant be changed until later. The other 3 can be changed freely
How are you playing the full game whne it's out on 24?

I think theres no "best". But for early game this team is really nice👍
I’m so excited for this game to come in, i’m torn between starting with Throne, because I used Thereon constantly in Octopath 1 and Osvald for extremely gay reasons. Either way I’ll probably make a B-line to the other and figure out my team from there.
I almost and was going for throne because reasons, but Oswald story stool the show for me as he was last character I viewed but I'll likely get throne next or one character after
Did they fix the issue of OT1 where none of the stories overlapped and the party didn’t care about anything anyone else was doing?

@@jonesygrets6029 Wasn't his reframing completely headcanon though? if I remember correctly his video was centered around "I just pretend in my mind that we goto town together then Jimmy runs off and does his quest alone"
A very mindless way to do it that's gained popularity is to go with an "all east" or "all west" team comp, go through all chapters for all 4 characters, then completely swap to the other 4 characters.
You then go get all the sub-classes and if you want to be totally mindless, sub-classing into the 4 characters you aren't playing at the time works perfectly fine. So, for example, Hikari with Hunter sub, Cassti with thief sub, Partitio with Scholar sub, Agnea with Cleric sub, something like that works perfectly fine. Then you just target the zones you haven't been through, and the stories you haven't done, going from lowest to highest level requirements until all 4 characters have completed their stories, then swap to the other 4 characters. The second party will have all end game gear, so even though they'll be underleveled for the main world (as it scales up as you complete story events) it won't matter.
All east and all west will cover every core type of path action as well for both day and night (and it's the only two teams that can cover all of them) so you'll spend much less time party swapping to get through the town sections. Of course, you can easily swap the subclass for your needs (swapping Hikari in this party's example to Merchant for duels lets you get his best attacks "much" sooner than you could otherwise), but you can get through the entire game just fine without having to stress about party comp this way, and you'll always be able to break shields since you'll have access to all 8 core class abilities the entire game.
