About Castti's latent ability; Not only does it let you not consume your ingredients, but it lets you use *more than you currently have*. While its not my favorite Latent ability (that goes to either Ochette or Hikari), I definitely consider it one of the stronger ones with how strong Concoct already is
Casti is basically a direct upgrade to Temenos in every way. The latent affords more breaks (up to five) and if you have the ingredients, probably the best coverage in the game.
This guy definitely slept on her.
For early game Agnea is definitely my favorite, find a follower with Calming Rhythm and her dances will restore 500 HP & 40 SP, this even procs with her Dagger Dance AoE Attack.
Does that affect the whole party?
@txgoldrush unfortunately it does not, only the target of her dance receives the followers buff
I used the one near Totoraha harbour that restore 75 sp, 1 pop and anyone will be almost full SP again on top of getting the atk/mag buff
Yeah early game she was my 2nd strongest attacker behind Hikari
Ochette is S+
Unlimited healing
Unlimited magic
Unlimited physical attacks
Unlimited buffs and debuffs
They changed the hunter from ha'annit in 1 so they buffed the hunter into oblivion

@@cavsfightingroom3692 H’annit had a limit to the amount of times you could use the animal summons. Ochette can use them INDEFINITELY. It’s all a matter of finding a better version of an animal companion that you already have for her.
P.S.: Ochette also has an animal companion that automatically attacks a weakness, physical for the fox, elemental for the owl. H’annit’s leopard was stuck at spear attacks and fucking *suuuuuuucked*.

I think your underestimating the value of support abilities just a little bit, but over all I agree with your list. Temenos may end up being way better than we expect just because his latent talent can break enemies even if that do that thing where they shield against all their weaknesses. Depends of how often this happens but we may see a lot of situations where Temenos is the ONLY option for breaking more than one shield in a turn.
Osvald is definitely S tier for me. He can wipe out a group of enemies by himself. Sometimes, my party doesn't need to do anything because when Osvald goes first, the battle usually, and if he does, Angea uses buffs up his elemental attacks so he can just hit even harder, I can also have Patito give his BP to Osvald and I think just this Trio also make excellent team together.
He's wicked diverse and his talent pairs (probably) the most intuitively with his kit out of all the characters. Much like Cyrus in the first game, I'm pretty sure he's gonna end up being the strongest character in the game.

A note for Agnea- if she does have a follower, every time she dances her follower will use their ability as well. For example, if Agnea uses Lion's Dance on Gus, Gus will get whatever support ability the follower has. In addition to this, this doesn't use up a "use" of that follower. Followers that give HP or SP can really help Agnea's early game a lot and you can do it indefinitely because only summon uses up a "use". I would move her up to C tier because of this as well as the fact her latent ability is good for multiple enemy breaks and party wide buffs. I can see your justification for putting her in D, but I can see a lot of potential with her kit. Plus, I find Allure and Entreat to be very useful early game support skills. A powerful follower and free items are definitely useful (but I can see how Allure will fall off later).
I do agree that she'll become more useful in the late game. She definitely benefits by having more characters in your active party and maybe acquiring a subclass. She's a support character in function, so she's probably not the ideal starter.

Now I have RECOVERING SP Dances 75 a dance
This Sonic Chronicles Cream levels of broken allowing my team to spam the strongest attacks over and over
Beast Lore is Ochette's Exclusive Talent, Purplatypus.
I started with Throné and then got Osvald, I need a healer next, I think. I liked both of their chapter 1s. I remember kind of being bored in a lot of chapter 1 stories in the first game. This one starts out strong so far, and the music... as expected, it so good.

While I agree Hikari is a good starter it is for a very different reason, while yes he is kind of a jack of all trades master of none another good thing about his starting area is that he starts right next to the appocathary which is right next to the beast master and so you can get a well rounded team before having to dredge through harder fights. Sure it is not the most reliable when it comes to magic weaknesses because you require materials to do elemental damage as the apacathary so it takes a bit before you get reliable magic weakness covered but it does cover all weapons and some elements which then means you can pick any charact as your 4th regardless of distance away because you have all bases covered.
I would argue that every character in this game is at least A tier. but you definitely nailed the fact that if you have a warrior and an apothecary you are basically an immovable and an unstoppable force.
I love their assets. In Octopath 1, It seems their classes are unbalanced. In Octopath 2, They made all characters so broken but really fun.
Ochette is completly overpowered, you Can Do 9999 damage on every target at level 10

@@joewhan11 If you run around in the cavern of waves dungeon (lvl48), with a lot of dying and some luck you will be able to capture Light Revenant with her (I just threw a ton of soulstones at him until he got to low health when I was only around lvl 20). It's a 10 strength AOE light attack that can only be used at max boost. Donate BP -> Max Boost Light Revenant use for AOE 9999 damage on the majority of enemies in the demo (except the too high level ones in the same cave, still it goes for >6000 damage normally)

@@zaegva I have to disagree, ochette is still one of my favorite fighters, chubby cait is great all game and some her pets have great buffs and attack at the same time for no sp. Her, castti, partition, Hikari, and agnea are my go to's. I just finished throne's story and her ex skill has shot her up there as well (no spoilers). The only two characters I find are weak end game are temenos and osvald.
@@joewhan11 the problem with Ochette is, that she cant oneshot on the first turn, buffs and the defense break are good, but they lack what others bring to the table. Oswald can oneshot every thrast on the first turn during night if you have throné on your team. Also having to waste 3 bp to deal omly 9999 dmg is waste. Also the summons are mostly 1 hit, so they cant destroy the bosses shield very effectively. And without Ochettes buffs or the defence break, Oswald and Hikari can still do over 60k to the defence broken boss in a single turn. Throné with inventor job, is awesome, and during night she brings great starting buffs. And then you need a healer, so there is no room for Ochette. (Oswald as an arcanist is really really strong.)
In my 3 hour demo I started Throne, and got the job on the way to osvald. I put the job on Throne and she basically one shot every wave for the longest time with its makeshift weapons.
Pushed to see how far I could go in 3 hours and I got Throne to lvl 18 and the seven others are around 13-15
For me , my fav is temenos for sure, he is amazing and for a cleric i think he is pretty strong
Partition is the best character. Hands down
He said he likes Hikari too. How about MAX Boost Hikari abilities every turn!? He completely missed what the merchant class brings to the party.
What are you doing with Throne to get the big damage you mentioned? I am parked in a level 30+ dungeon in the demo with the hunter, scholar and cleric and she is tied with the cleric for poor damage and feels pretty bad in combat at the moment
She has a dagger attack that does more damage the sooner she acts in a round that can get some pretty high damage on my run

To partitios defense. He is an absolute BP monster! His latent instant bp power pairs so well with donating bp to others for instant maxing and he gets a skill in which immediatly supercharges his latent gauge at the start of every fight! BP for days! Im a little biased as I started with him and is locked with him so I figure out what the man can do. But Partitio is a heck of a support.
I think Castti can do the bp donating better since her latent can let you concoct for free so you can give bp to everyone instead of 1 person without wasting those items.

Agnea latent with merchant sidestep?, that was broken in octopath 1 with tressa runelord
Late game I made Temenos a scholar. Can confirm Elemental barrage with max boost and latent breaks anything especially during boss fights.

I’ve noticed and I don’t know if this is a bug or something but I chose Osvald to start with and his analyze when he faces the enemy the 1st time shows 1 weakness, but then he finds the same enemy again and analyzes them the second time showing 2 weaknesses instead of 1. Anyone else notice it or just me?
If you read his ability it says that after the first encounter it will find two abilities each time

Do the latent powers come with the classes?
Latent Talents are unique to each character.
I think agnea should be boosted up a tier or two just due to the interaction between he divine skill and her latent ability. if it's the same as the first game, then she may be able to give AOE damage/support to every character in the party, allowing you to do any number of strats (runelord+merchant from the first game etc etc) with literally no investment. though ppl may say that divine skill access is midgame.
but of course, all respect to your opinions and tierlist. if im wrong let me know

Agnea's Latent Ability doesn't work with Divine Abilities or abilities that exclusively target the unit, so that's not gonna work

agnea is way better than you think. she can buff everyone. My party is agnea,cleric,throne and oswald. throne just is secondary dps and you just buff the hell out of oswald with agnea and have her secondary job be merchant for donate bp and oswald will be doing op damage in no time especially with his divine skill and donating bp to him. She also is very good at clearing trash mobs while walking and exploring leveling with the all dagger attack. combine her all dagger with throne as inventor and use the catapult as well and mobs and leveling become so easy.
Hikari, Cassti, Osvald, Agnea. Nuff said.
Osvald is S tier. If you can’t see that then you never played OPT part 1 where Cyrus was the best character to start with.

I’ve basically completed ch 3 with all characters and started with Osvald. My route was to pick up Throné and then Temenos asap before collecting everyone else. The reason being you can AOE nuke every mob during nighttime. Osvald with the inventor passive that lets him have a free first turn plus the buff/debuff nighttime combo from Throné/Temenos has absolutely broken the game for me lol. Vigorous Victor passive from apothecary means you never run out of sp either. This set up is also perfect for killing caits/octopuffs before they can flee since magic never misses.
Castti is the best character in the game, utility and single-target damage wise. (IMO, of course)
These Tier List is just for damage right? Not usefulness in certain situations? Because I know that you know what I mean. Some characters are best in whatever they do. But when it comes to Damage for their main Job Classes, youre mostly right. hahahaha Been watching your channel.
