Moiraine knew what would happen at the docks because of the three rigns at rhuidean, not because of the ter'angreal in tear
interesting you think this book is mainly about Rand, reading it now and feel as if at least 70% is from Nynaeves POV
Billy Franes just finished it and completely agree!
It's almost exactly 30% Rand and 30% Nynaeve.
A lot of it is Nynaeve.
Nynaeve's POV chapters were boring, imo. Except when Birgitta appeared
Came here to say this. I will forever call this book the Book of Nynaeve.
Mat becoming a war hero by accident is one of my most favorite details from the entire series. I really hope it translates to tv well.
Oof
@@__cadlea8638 yeah... they still got time since mat was a grump for the start of the book series too. I'm hopeful
I stopped after episode 3, it's shit. Wheel of time in name only
@@snsi2977 The show got better by the end. But yeah it was kind of meh, and I hope season 2 is better. You just have to remember its not the same story. They are on record that its another turning of the wheel. So main events and characters are there, but it all happens slightly differently.
Kind of like when Rand teleports everyone who gets to experience a ton of alternate lives on accident.
@@amp7980 still hate it
Did anyone mention Mat having to kill Melindra because she was a dark friend? Pretty minor point, but it shows the reach that the dark one and the forsaken have to recruit dark friends even among Aiel.
Almost cried
To give a more concise summary for those interested I would use: "Fool men! I'll box their ears!" said Nynaeve
lol
While tugging her braid. That’s a very important detail!
*sniffs in your general direction*
"hmmph!"
I love how you said "The drunken gambler can't seem to escape glory".
I enjoyed this one as well. One minor point When you talked about Nyneave overpowering Moghedien in the world of dreams, it would have been good to hear about her using her will to put an adam around her neck in the world of dreams and basically forces her to take her to where rand is fighting. Moghedien's fear in this section was palpable.
Moghedien's fear after all she did to Nynaeve was amazing. Both were scared as *^***, but Nynaeve was using fear and anger ( hers and Moghedien's hahah) in a pretty nice way ^^
"the drunken gambler can't seem to escape glory.." xD
Damn Mat's gotta be my favorite character. I love how powerful he actually is without actually being a channeler. He's so unlike any other fantasy character that I know. I love the luck thing, the war memories, and the anti-aes sedai amulet so much. And the fact that he doesn't give a shit about them and that he just wants to be a free dude is just perfect!
Bram Leferink Matt is really unique & cool. The only thing I’d have to criticise about his character is that all of his skills that makes him such an important figure seem to have been “given to him” by the story/ Jordan.
He seems to get: Luck, Amazing fighting skills/ tactics & the general’s Memories, & immunity to being channeled, all from external plot circumstances, rather than earning the abilities.
Idk
I dunno, his memories and amulet were paid for by being hung, so he earned them lol.
i just finished this book yesterday and mat is such a dick to rand in this book.
@@ryanratchford2530 Of course it 'happens' to him...it's all part of his luck.
Vipul Doshi Matt has some of the best character growth.
So happy I've found your channel... not many booktubers out there who cover fantasy/high fantasy.
Metoo
Sorry for my promotion, but if you're still looking, I cover fantasy/ high fantasy.
Whoa spoilers from Daniel! Not a huge deal though, just a tiny bit presumably from book 6. I just finished #5 and the last we saw Nynaeve and Moghedien was in the Dreaming, as N made M drink a sleeping draught seconds before revealing that she knew where M was in the real world and was coming for her. I'm rather delighted to learn that she'll be able to leash M, even though the practice and technology is morally repugnant.
Ah, I was wondering where he read that.
" I will see you in Salidar my love. Have nice dreams"
Me right now aha I was suspicious of those three women and thought they might have been black ajah
Just finished this book and damn what an ending. Though I HATED THE MIDDLE of the book, it dragged and really could have been condensed, but the ending was fantastic.
100% agree on this
The mic quality is much better now there is no echo. Keep this series going!
Hey Daniel,
Great stuff. I am coming back to WoT after a long hiatus, and these videos have been very very helpful to get me back on the right track and in the world. You're doing great - I can't imagine these are easy. Keep it up!
Finally finished book 5 and this is the first place I come.
The sound is SO much better dude! Thanks for these!
Don't forget that Morgase was revealed to be alive in the end
Thanks dude! been getting back into these after years away and it's nice not to have to re-read 1-9 to have an idea of what's gone on!
awesome series just finished fires of heaven... you do really good summaries i can always come back to these when i want to summarize what i just reas
Have been binging your Wheel of Time videos! 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you for taking the time to create content for WoT, it's quite possible my favorite book series. Glad to find a small corner of CZcamsrs who appreciates the series too
Starting back at book six after a few years off and this series was really helpful! I love reading fantasy on beach vacations, and I listened to the first five summaries while packing. Thank you for doing this!
I love your summaries......thy help me piece everything together. Great job on all, keep them coming!!
Here in Brazil we only got book 9 until now, one book per year more or less. I always come here to summarize the first books before delving into a new one, and now it's time for the Lord of Chaos! Thank you! You're awesome!
That's so interesting! Is it due to the distribution rights, or is it a translation issue?
Definately not 75% Rands perspective.Have you forgotten the Chapters with Egwene,Nyvaeve, menageries, suian sanche etc.
Yes, it's about 30% Rand POV and we get him trough Mat and Egwain.
nynaeve pov is soooo painfully slow in this book
All the characters who finished the last book in the Aiel Waste combined aren't even 85%. Rand himself is just 30% and Mat and Egwene are about 7% each.
Such an excellent job, once again. Probably the best summary available for this book on CZcams. You do a good job of giving us that macro summary with micro bits that are essential. I really liked this book, myself -- especially because there was no Faile. Ha!
Great video. Really hit home on all the solid plot points. Id love to see some content that’s more opinionated; I guess more of a review then solely a summary.
This is so useful thank you, I stopped reading this book near the end and didn't want to start again from the beginning. This was a great summary that triggered my memory of what I had already read and saved me a lot of time and helped me get back into the series after life got busy and made me have to stop reading so thank you.
This was one of my favorite from the series learning about the Aiel and stuff was super cool
Really appreciate these summaries. I enjoy these books but there seems to be a lot that I miss. The clarification is very helpful
Thanks for clarifying some of the action in the book. Mat of course saved the day. Again. I'm so enjoying your breakdown of each book. Thanks
Thank You for doing these, Daniel!!! I'm all caught up again. Now I can start book 6 all over.
Loving your series, thank you! First time getting into these books 📚
Extremely minor point: Men are allowed to enter the Maiden's hold if they are gaishain.
And not all woman are just wise ones, aes-sedai, and maidens obviously.
And female gaishain
Had a small break between book 5 and 6 and this made everything to much clearer, thnx!
Good video. One of my favorite books in the series.
I love Matt in this series. Rand is my favorite character but Matt tries so hard to keep himself away from all coinflict, but ends up becoming a general and wins all these battles without trying to.
About to begin book 6. This helped. Thanks, Daniel!
Really enjoying these :) Thanks
thank you for everything u do
Thank you! So good
Once Rand at least sees that Matt has come back to life, he reacts to this like an 11 year old girl at a justin Bieber concert.
took a long 3 year break from wheel of time, realised i had completely forgotten what had happened in the last book i read, but wanted to continue reading.. this video has helped so much thx
LOL , for me it was 23 years!
along with knowing elayne loves rand, aviendha had also promised elayne that shed look out for her by keeping an eye out on rand. she says more than several times to rand that your promised to elayne
just finished this yesterday!! my FAVORITE book in the series so far. but it seems to be an unpopular opinion to ppl i have spoken to and from what little ive read
i just finished it today :) it was really good! i think my list so far is tsr, foh, and then tdr. i seem to have seen foh pretty high on most people's lists and it lived up to the hype
So you haven’t finished the series?
@@factbeaglesarebest nah about ten chapters away from finishing Lord of chaos at the moment
That mic made me crack up initially. The thumbnail makes sense!! Hooray!!
I've discovered in watching your and other videos relating to WOT that the whole time I was reading the series I was mispronouncing many character and other names.
J Scott Me too lol
Just because he says it this way doesn't mean you HAVE to change your pronunciation, like with Nynaeve I personally pronounce NY-NUH-VAE, and Rhuihdean or however it is properly spelled, I pronounce Rhoo-hi-dean. It's all up to you
J Scott lol u murican
That's what glossaries are for
@@temocpreciado896 Your pronunciation of Rhuidean is closer to the glossary than Daniel's. Robert Jordan, at a book signing, pronounced Nynaeve as Nie-neev.
Book resume in under 5 seconds:
*Rand uses Balefire*
Moiraine: Not cool
Rand: Cool
Moiraine: Oh boy
Rand: Cooooool
Finished the 5th book again back to YOU !!!
I love the description of Lanfear hold the skin of the Darkfriend after the wagon explodes.
I've been prenouning it Bir-gette or Beer-Jet LOL
When is there going to be this long speculates tv series of these great books
Yes, it's a much clearer sound.🤩
Wait wait wait... one of the three women Nynaeve took in was Moghedien? When was that explained? I just finished the book yesterday, and from what I remember, Nynaeve drugged Moghedien in Tel’aran’rhiod so she would sleep, and that was the last we saw of her.
It's a cliffhanger at the end of book 5, with only one line about the fact that she has to be someone in town to know so much about "the rebels".
He spoiled beginning of book 6.
Thanks! I thought I had missed something while reading book 5.
I don't understand why people don't tend to like this book, I thought it was fantastic slower paced at times sure, but that happens more often than naught with wheel of time books.
FOH is my 2nd fav book of the series hands down.
GREAT!!! Thanks
14:57
I love your obvious emotions at this POV change lol. This irritated me so much when I was reading, but I do have to admit the ultimate payoff and suspense built was worth it.
Wait, wtf? Egwene fights off Mog?!? I don't remember that at all
Rereading the series right now to try to forget season 1.
I must have missed that last part. I was so confused what happened to osmodian.
Not everyone lives when the tower is destroyed: the main character, yes, they survive, but many Maidens die, and many more are maimed/gravely wounded.
Gratitude
I completely missed that moghedien was one of the 3 refugee women on the boat and I was very confused when they talked about how the 2 silent kids had been with her in the next book.
It’s amazing how much I’ve forgotten in just a few books down the line 😂
I haven't read the books in 15 years. Damn, there's a lot of shit happening lol, so confusing. I don't remember being confused while reading them, which speaks to how great the pacing and writing of RJ was.
I don't think Fain was mentioned once outside the prologue lol
Cool video bro
8:21 "and tries to hold open her gateway" is that what the kids are calling it these days...
Rand tryna get in that gateway
Essentially. Like a hundred times
I will never forget the shock I felt when it clicked that Moiraine was dead
I thought Fain only talked to Alviarin but not Elaida after getting the dagger
This book was great it was an insight to how rand is developing. Ps i dont like that rand doesn't want to kill women
I could not bring myself to finish this book due to the amount of bickering in it, but your summaries make it sound pretty freaking awesome. Thanks for helping me to find a good taste for the series
Take a shot every time he says Morghedien
Daniel pronounces things way different than I do, and now I’m unsure if I’m right or he is?
Do you answer comments on videos from 4 years ago
he goes into a guardhouse to wheep and read not a wagon
Whoa whoa whoa maidens died when samael shocks the tower.
Where is path of daggers
LegacyTCG1 at a library near you
spoiler at the en about moghedian's identity
It's thought that Graendal is the one that killed Asmodean
she did as it was confirmed in the Towers of Midnight glossary
Ive a conspiracy theory it was the gholem lol
my main takeaway from these videos: I cannot break my mispronounciations despite the glossaries in the books. 😂 Tell me how to pronounce Birgitte after I've been reading it my way for hundreds of pages. lol
Hahaha same! 🤓
So i read books 5-14 i just caught up 1-4.
I'm reading the next book but avienda and mat are alive and I feel like I'm missing something
The balefire that rand used made rahvin not exist far enough back that he couldn’t set the trap that killed them
This last bit of information starting at like 20:15 is a spoiler for those of us that haven't started book 6. You gave too much information about the collar with NyNaeve. I realized as I got to the end of your video you said things that is in the very beginning of Lord Of Chaos. I am not upset others might be because it wasn't a huge spoiler but it seems a blur of book 5 and book 6 by accident. Unless I missed that in book 5 some how. Other then that love your reviews brother keep up the great work and look forward to other reviews👍
Is that the Iron Giant?
The biggest take away from these summaries is that I pronounce names completely wrong.
You haven't mentioned the braid pulling nearly enough.
Spoiler alert! @ 20:15 This detail isn't in book 5. I just finished and I think you gave me a little bit of book 6.
Ahhh, dang it. I shouldn't have listened to it.That is annoying.
When I was listening to this book I was constantly thinking that the author needed more platonic female friends.
I thought the aiel were allowed the 5th but if they were caught doing anything more they would be hanged
tip: do not have you PC windows authentication sticker on camera....
This is my favorite wheel of time book. I love seeing the relationship between Rand and Aviendha develop. This is where he loses his virginity.
I hate to be that guy but Rand’s perspective is only like a third of this book
How does Rand’s bailfire being so strong bring Matt & the others back to life? It sort of feels like a cheap killing off characters, change to another story line for a while, then return to Rand, only to bring the killed of friends back to life.
I believe this was done not to make the readers think those characters were dead, but instead to show the power of balefire CLEARLY to the reader. It had been explained a bit, but never fully put on display. After that scene, you have to understand just how important and dangerous this tool it.
Daniel Greene thanks for reply, I’m defiantly not criticising the series (I haven’t read this part yet so was only talking about how it sounds out of curiosity- I’m sure reading it, fits in well & isn’t an issue)
Thankyou for getting back to me :)
Bailfire erases a person's existence. Matt and the others lived because the person that killed them never existed after rand blasted him with bailfire.
Robin Byrd guess I just found it out of place that bailfire has temporal altering abilities. Did we see it foreshadows before or used again in the future? (The specific changing the past)
Ryan Ratchford bale fires ability to erase a part of the past based on the strength of the balefire is shown and explained earlier in the book. Mat is attacked by a darkhound with venomous saliva that kills within minutes upon touch, and Rand uses balefire to kill one darkhound that slobbered over Mat, which saves Mats live because Rand used balefire strong enough to erase presumably several minutes of the darkhound past out, so that essentially it never slobbered on Mat in the first place. So the mass saving of lives due to killing Rahvin with balefire was foreshadowed in a way I felt was well written and executed.
When you said morgaise i thought you said more gays 😂😂😂 couldnt stop laughing
😂😂😂
I feel like you unintentionally make the "Roof of the Maidens" thing a little weirder than it is. Maidens give up any child they have for adoption if they choose to remain a maiden after becoming pregnant. By way of the prophecies, Rand is the first acknowledged son of a maiden in a huge amount of time. So people of that society feel a strong parental or familial bond with him. Its not like he's a dude in the middle of a harem.
you should remake these! do a series where you recap them all from memory and then redo these because i think we can both agree that your quality of videos has gotten a lot better. the pacing of these is pretty bad lmao. great video though as always, love watching these after i finish the book
20:23 "that Elayne has made" yeah nbd. Elayne just made the first angreal in thousands of years. nbd. also im listening to the audio books so i might have missed it but that didn't happen in this book.
Is this the autotune version?
He says all the names so weirdly 😂
THIS is a "very heavy Rand" book? WTF? It was like a freakin' Jane Austen novel it focuses on the squabbling girls so much. They constantly argue about everything with each other, but instantly exclaim "MEN!" when they have the slightest disagreement with any male. I'm like, bitch you just spent 4 hours ripping on every other woman around you, and dude just had a quick question.
