I think he means if you move this captain up to T9 / T10 - he mentioned what you would want if you stop at T8 or not.

I knew an old salt who was aboard the U.S.S. Baltimore during WW2. He had some great battle stories.
What I can't understand is how you weren't being focused by every ship in range every time you fire your guns, every game I play no matter how far back or how much cover I have if I am spotted 3+ ships are shooting me
I'm not trying to show off or anything but this is called positioning.
Positioning well make enemy ship have to give up something, or forced to do something or risk something to just shoot you. That reduced the risk of being shot at.
Situational awareness helps too. Most players will just track and shoot at whatever is spotted first. Sometimes in a CA it's worth it to hold your fire until your enemies are shooting at something else.
Potato players like to shoot at big things, and close things. Try to have friendly ships that are bigger than you, or closer to the enemy than you, before you shoot
As I was grinding on my Baltimore something about it just didn't feel right and I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong, and Flamu read my mind by posting this video. I always wondered why those "screw it" moments where I charged into two cruisers and somehow came out alive were flukes, but it turns out I've been using the HE too much. I didn't realize the AP was "Super heavy" and had that boosted penetration. I thought it was just a floating AA barge. Thank you for the help!

@@danielsherrill7085 It was my first tier 8 cruiser. Felt really vulnerable in it, tried to find the best cover and angle whenever possible, until a Sinop or any other BB drops you to 50% hp in one volley. I was expecting the AP to be really nice since i like firing AP in cruisers but almost every broadside was just overpen fest with occasional citadel city. The HE felt anemic, i had better results even in Pensacola than Baltimore at the beginning of playing it

Awesome video Flamu and love your content, do you have any advice on how to carry your teams harder? I get the worse teams and I get on a 6-7 losing streak before winning and I'm really sick of losing, any tips?

I would liked to have seen your progress in the PR-Directives after this battle. Just for the laugh.
I find Radio Location to be very useful in Radar Cruisers as it helps me know where the DDs are trying to sneak around in order to make the best use of my Radar use timing. That is just me, however I find it invaluable especially on US CAs which often fight a little closer to DDs then RU CAs.
Always loved the Baltimore, the grind was pretty bad at times when it was T9 but getting those sweet citadels does make up for it. Will never forget the Dev Strike on a Neptune that presented itself full broadside, reload doesn't matter if they're dead.

Great vid, but on the small topic of 'best in tier' for AAA while the Baltimore may technically do a couple more points dps base, you have to chose between Def AA or Hydro, with Cleveland you have 4 consumable slots and don't have to make that choice: You get Def AA+Hydro+Radar with Cleveland, most Baltimore captains go Hydro+Radar and don't have Def AA.

This might not mean much, but I cant express how much respect I have for you, not for the giveaway, but for the fact that you truly stood for us, the community. those Balti stat are very different from what i'm seeing (at least on stock). are your stats different because of camo, mods, etc?
Would you recommend this captain build to work up the line until Des Moines? Currently grinding through Pensacola
How do you get your water looking like that ? I've got what looks like bubble bath spread all over the surface, and it looks horrible.
Another good thing if you play well is the ap can do 10k damnage salvos even to bbs as well
My next ship will be Baltimore soon good advice on ruddershift or propulsion and definitely keep an AA build on this

T8 can’t mount reload or range mod.
People have expressed that they like a lot about the December Holiday stuff but the bait-and-switch with the Puerto Rico has over shadowed the holiday content.
Thx for the giveaway flamu. But even more thanks for this videos... just like a tutorial for the ship: it's strengths and weaknesses, how to play it and why. I'm starting to play wows better.... That's an overstatement, let's say I play less badly.

One thing that Flambass pointed out that I can never ignore now is that if you play Amalerican CA's right, then you should have about 1K damage for every shell hit. Well Flamu proved him right, 147 shell hits and 148K damage.

The point is a naval game with carriers is a naval game about carriers. It's that much of a leap forward
8:55 Flamu, Baltimore is Tier 8 now; she doesn't get the range/reload mod option any more. That's a slot six thing (T9, T10).
Should be noted that what's gained going up to the Baltimore such as radar and better concealment are benefits developed over time when you've learned how to properly use them. On the other hand, the downgrade of manuverability and low she'll velocity are felt instantly. But this combination may very well improve your skills and prepare for the style of play in the teirs ahead.

Anyone know the odds of actually getting a ship in the crates. Ive opened 50 and not one ship and these were the mega big crates that are supposed to have the highest percentage to have a ship. Honestly I feel like I got ripped off. Probably 140 real life dollars for some temp camo and some flags. I feel bad. Ive been asking for Wargaming gift cards for my recent birthday in preparation for this. I really thought would get some , any ship out of 50 crates. (

Damn! Sorry I missed your giveaway! Anyway, I'll try to use your tips. I do so much better in the Cleveland than the Baltimore, and trying to figure out why...
When I grinded my Baltimore back when it was Tier IX I always thought it was a bit lacking. But then again, it was the first line I played in WoWS back when it launched, so I may not have been able to play it to it's full potential back then. Now I love my Des Moines, but I am not quite sure how to set it up. AA build is apparently useless, so I may just reskill my captain. I always thought the range very limiting, especially because it is a rather squishy ship. On the other hand, range mod is not ideal due to the shell velocity. How do you setup your Des Moines Flamu?
Yeah 15 sec reload is real pain before it got buff
For some reason I was quite successful in my DM with range mod, open water play style and hydro. It allowed me to kite BBs from 17km if there was no island cover around and still be somewhat safe when hunting DDs around islands. Especially now with more and more BBs overmatching 30mm I'm debating on whether I should go back to range mod after fiddling around with legendary mod.
@@cl4ster17 Interesting. I don't have the legendary mod yet, but I manage it's great for dodging and throwin off the aim of enemy BBs
@@RavenflashLP The primary benefit of legendary mod is insane acceleration when running essentially double accel mod (legendary mod has accel and rudder mod integrated). Though you have to be careful because while DM can accelerate to 30 kts in 5 seconds, it still takes forever to slow down.
I might try spotter plane + legendary for the lols.

Yesterday got an outstanding match with balty after my team potato mates died after yoloing 🤬.. found myself alone right flank managed to escape after suffering some nasty citadels from NC, then just tried to use the islands as much as I could and kept on giving them hell, radared 2 enemy dds and frag them, used last radar to spot 1 blyska and 1 mogamy that were creeping behind me while firing HE to NC, what happened was god like, NC bounced 2 AP broadsides from my deck armour (had 1427 HP) surprised noob mogami with 2 devastating AP salvos and saved our Georgia radaring with my last radar spotting the last enemy dd. So gotta say.. America..fuck yeah.. lol

I just want to point out one thing, Flamu.
Anyone who goes against a Worcester in brawl range with overconfidence, especially with cruisers and showing enough broad will get absolutely RIPPED apart by a worcesters AP. Within about 10km, the Worcester's AP will decimate both CA and CL broadsides, ESPECIALLY with chain fire, instead of volleys.
I've had a match where i lost in a brawl against a Moskva (or Hinde, can't remember which) because they had a DSM backing them up. If it were just 1v1 - my worcester vs their CA - i would have come out the winner.
We brawled, he came in with full health, and despite me dying, he left with about 1/4 of his health left.
keeping in mind that obviously one would hope to NOT go straight in a brawl early game. lol. But late game where you're positioned well and come out against a broadside CA/CL, light 'em up with AP.
TL;DR, DON'T underestimate a Brawling Worcester in the right Cpt. Hands.

Like the NC, Baltimore is just lovely when you get on tier8, the grind before that... not as bad as on USN bb's, but i did hate the Tier6 because of the so slow turret

T8 is not allowed to slot reload/range mod yet mr flolo... .
Nowadays a typical distribution of ship types is more geared to BBs. Seeing 5 BBs on each side and only a couple of cruisers makes it difficult to hunt cruisers on a cruiser. Most games end up BB sniping contests. WG should limit the number of BBs like they do with CV:s... Max 3 BBs per side would make things more interesting.
