I've never been so happy to be class of 2024 and wont have to completely change my studying plans over this.
Im so lucky to be class of 2025!! I wanted to take the SAT but I guess I'll be taking the ACT instead
@@Algotube same 🤣
Yes same
Class of 24 and I plan on taking the act.
@@abhagupta41 it means you're graduating on 2024
I really don’t like the change because using my pencil to even make pointless marks on math/reading section really helps me stay focused on the prompt/graph/tables
Exactly, I taught SAT prep and developed a very methodical and almost ritualistic approach to attacking each problem. Having a pencil to make little marks plus jot down things as in the problem solution progression was really helpful to most students. I don't like this change either, but am not surprised that it's gone digital.
Totally agreed. Kids who are happy about this have no clue how to take tests anyway in that they don’t know the invaluable effects of annotating/marking up the page. They think they’ll do well but they may do even worse because of not having the strategies to annotate problems on the given scratch paper
I’m glad I’m in the class of 2023 (taking it this year) cause I would’ve sucked at digital test taking for the SAT. I like paper testing. The thing I hate about this change is that it’s not optional to take it in person or on paper. It’s a requirement digitally. And with it being digital is it gonna be like the AP exam where people couldn’t go back to past questions? Cause that’s a huge screw over
Facts same here class of 23 and paper tests are so much better in my opinion
Yepppppp. Paper tests are far easier for me, not to mention I would hate using an online calculator. I also don’t like the idea of every student getting a completely different test, since that feels far less objective than percentiles derived from performance on a set of identical questions. Personally, I don’t think Collegeboard made these changes to appeal to students. Pretty sure it was about appealing to schools and to teachers by reducing prep time. They revamped their entire test to make things “better” but there’s gonna be a ton of complications for the classes of 2024, 2025, etc. as they take the first versions of this online SAT. I don’t think the development was worth it at all, but I guess I shouldn’t say that just yet. We’ll see what happens.
sat doesnt matter anyways bs test created by bs ppl
You guys in this generation are so soft. Just do what you have to do. Too much complainting.
@@Tom6567my sorry I’ll just be complacent and conform to whatever I am told without questioning and thoughtfulness.
I don’t know why I am still watching these videos, I’m already in college.
Me too
Right??????
literally same hahaha
I got into college without a SAT as it was optional last year. Just wondering if anyone cares about your SAT (or lack of having one) once you're in college?
@@loganrajah5678
Nope
Class of 22 is pissed rn... Of course this happens right after we apply to college lmao. Ik everytime something becomes easier, the previous people complain, but its just SO frustrating when you've been through it. Good for the new kids I guess.
Class of 2021 is also rly pissed bc we literally just graduated soooo
@@omniezo6225 I was class of 2021, and I didnt need to take SAT or ACT. So we won

@Jordan Rodriguez thats tough, at least you have time untill graduation
Never been happier to be class of 2023. I love paper testing, I’ve studied for hours for the current SAT exam, and I’m note-taking from the Black Book and thriving. Hoping to break the 1300 bracket when I take the exam again in March! :))
@@sashikantkumar471 No way, something similar happened to me. My school just announced its offering the SAT in April so I caved and decided to do that instead.
best of luck to you!! breaking the 1300 bracket is not impossible in any way, you so got this :)
All these big changes have to happen AFTER I applied to college😂😂
Holy crap I just realized I've been taking those short quizzes from college board for gift cards and they were short passages followed by 1 question!!!!!! I might have been like a beta tester for the new test format!!!
yooooo me too
were these quizzes easy or what?
@@wrlkp I mean yeah but you couldn't skim the passages because the answers were all pretty similar so you needed to know exactly what they mean
Where can I do this I want giftcards lol
@@ayyjayy2583 they're always like 2 or 3 dollars but college board would send me an email saying "earn $4 in digital gift cards etc" and you click the link and spend like 15 minutes doing their English and math test and then they send you another email with the link to choose what kind of gift card it is. Like google play, apple bees, Xbox, etc
How dare they! If I had to carry five pencils with various degrees of sharpness, wake up at six in the morning to drive for an hour while facing existential dread over the test, and actually be creative with my cheating (I put my ti 89 in a ti 84 shell, and I'm still proud of it) then these kids should have to do the same.
that's a pretty miserable mindset to have, though. 'because i suffered everyone should'... yikes
edit: i know this is a joke. my point still stands that people who think this way about student debt and more suck
@@justinrodriguez761 you do know that people have this exact mindset on cancelling student loans too, right?

I'm a freshman, (Class of 2025), I'd be one of the 1st ones taking this exam, wish me luck!
Ahhh we’re sophomores now and I have my last tutor rk for the PSAT next year in fall… I’m so scared and I hate the reading part. There are short passages and there is only one question per one and it’s gonna be soo annoying to annotate… I’m scared and this is so unfair
Actually the test is 2 hours and 14 minutes without breaks. First 2 modules = 64 minutes 32 minutes each module, these are the reading and grammar modules with a total of 54 questions for both modules. Second set of modules, again 2 modules, these are the math modules, each module is 35 minutes= 70 minutes with a total of 44 questions for both modules. Total testing time 134 minutes = 2 hours and 14 minutes.
I honestly think the first batch of kids applying with this format have the biggest advantage and it will flat out from there. Because they'll set a threshold for top colleges' median scores which will naturally increase with the format (probably).
What are your thoughts for college admissions in comparing those who take the digital vs those who take paper and pencil since CB is rolling it out to international groups first?
Definitely happy that I took it paper for the SAT. If the absolute nightmare AP exams were for people a few years back is any indicator that CollegeBoard has zero clue how to make a proper digital test, this will be a nightmare.
But what will happen to the SAT question memes?
what about international students who are in freshman? should they take SATs, and will the new form of SAT effect how colleges look SATs scores and will it make chances of student slimmer in getting in college who gave new SATs compare to students wo give ACTs?
Hello and thank you for your videos . What’s the score for being on the national merit for psat if I am in NJ ? I am a freshman this year . Thank you
So for the year of March 2022, this year, is the test going to be digital or no?
How is the test fair with the adaptive format?
Should we prepare for this digital sat exam as usual? with paper and pencil released exams? will this help?
So glad I’m class of 2023, I’m not good at digital testing lol
samee
Class of 2023 are sobbing rn, including me😭
What is your advice for an international junior who had planned to take the ACT in summer 2022?
I even have the past SAT books
omg hi ilay i randomly found you in this comment section lol, good luck with your exams!!!
Hello. I am international student want to transfer my University to US top university in coming FALL2022 and aming to get scholarships as well. What do you recomend to take. Thank you for answers.
THIS IS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ALSO RIGHT??
is it only the class of 2025 that will take the SAT digitally or also class of 2024 as well since it will come out the spring of 2024?
Its simply not standardized anymore, and makes it harder for people who have studied more. If you disagree please tell me because I'm feeling really scared and I would like some reassurance lol. I just wish it stayed the same. Im tryna study with khan academy I have my 10 question goal everyday and Idk if its even accurate anymore.
Sounds to me that this is gonna be a nightmare. I don't get this adaptive theory. Sounds like this may be a way of discriminating against the brightest students again, similar to Harvard admissions policies.
@@aman-qj5sx it also makes it much harder to get into school. And college acceptance rates are already going down .3% every year.
@@aman-qj5sx If more people get good scores and good grades, that means colleges need to lower their acceptances since doing good will be the "norm". That also means only the best of the best can get it, making it so that people who do even better have a greater chance. Colleges have limited space, so they can only accept a certain amount of students.
I'm *simplifying* this, so these numbers and scenario *won't* be accurate:
Let's say that this year, there's 100 people applying to Harvard, and they all have 1500+ on the current SAT. Harvard can only accept 10 of those people (which will be the highest scorers). That is a 10% acceptance rate.
Now for the year with the new SAT, 200 people apply to Harvard with 1500+ on the new SAT. Harvard can still only accept 10 people, which makes it be a 5% acceptance.
Edit: I am ✨informed✨ now, so I understand how adaptive tests are good. I'd like to make it clear that I was just trying to explain the views of the op comment and another replier, not entirely my own beliefs. O.o
@@aman-qj5sx The fact that it’s shorter and seems less stressful might lead to improvements in performance. And since it’s adaptive, the test will give questions that would best fit the test taker. That is what I think might happen, but I could be wrong.
My reply before was in context of the op comment. I don’t necessarily believe entirely in it.
The Anything Sisters but if you fail easier questions wouldn’t that mean the test adapts to questions around a lower score, and if you fail harder questions it adapts around a higher score? I don’t think it will make it easier just less stressful. But there isn’t much information out so who knows.
@@ItzJeweled Yeah, that's true. I don't know much either. I was just trying to explain what the op comment was trying to get at. O.o
As someone in the class of 2025, I don’t know what to make of this

Brooke, will you be rolling out a package for this new digital version some time in the future? I bought your SAT package for my elder daughter; I can't wait to get my younger one started. She is in the class of 2025. And we are international. So, the new digital format starts in 2023 Spring.
Yes but we won’t start development until fall so it may not be available until later in 2023 as we are waiting for more information and sample materials from the college board- I am recommending that any ambitious international students switch to ACT because they will have a longer window to prepare for that test.
@@SupertutorTV Thank you so much Brooke. I will look into that. But I remember my elder one thought SAT was a little easier to handle than the ACT. I hope the ACT won't be too overwhelming for my younger child.
@@SupertutorTV If I subscribe to your ACT program for 12 months but need to extend it, how will you charge? Is it possible to subscribe for 2.5 years? Please advise your email. We can further talk.
@@leealysia9965 sure we offer extensions at a reduced rate after the first year. You can email us at info (at) SupertutorTV.com if you have any more questions
i am a resident of india i am currently in 9th and will go to 10th this year I. have been prepping for the SAT for some months now and plan to give the SAT in 2022 only so should i give the SAT or switch to the ACT.
the testing won't change until 2023 in India, so if you're worried about this you don't need to be, unless you take the SAT in 11th grade
@@catmeowmeow1662 thank you
Can a rising ninth grader take the old format SAT next year? Will colleges accept that score in 2026?
Yes - Most colleges will accept a score from freshman year. But you should check with the individual institution. A few colleges want it within the last two or three years.
Hi Brooke, to clarify, are you saying a current freshman will still have the option of taking the original SAT, but a current 8th grader will not? Thank you.
Anyone can take the current test through fall 2023 in the us. A current 8th grader can take the current exam until fall of sophomore year. To me that’s a little early.
@@SupertutorTV Thanks very much for your reply, that makes sense.
I'm a sophomore in Canada and I really want to go to a top university in the U.S. Do you think I should take the ACT or this new SAT? Or both? I am willing to take both if it will increase my chances.
Wassup Devi. To answer your question, colleges do not favor SAT score over ACT and vice versa(90th percentile on ACT is no different from 90th percentile on SAT). However, some kids are better at taking one test over the other. So if you want the best possible results and percentile score, then taking both will be beneficial to you.
Hope that helps. Good luck and study hard!
Pick one and study for it. ACT is my rec as there could be hiccups with SAT initial administrations.
@@SupertutorTV , Yes, do what Brooke recommends, study hard and take the SAT.
Sorry, I meant ACT
Which colleges are you considering?
Does this mean the SAT is taken at home now?
No. They will be given at testing centers as they normally are already. No at home testing will be available
It's called, dumbing it down..
Without pencil and paper how do you solve math problems? Hopefully scratch paper and pencil will still be provided.
We’re not sure the plan yet but you will you will either have scratch paper or a whiteboard and marker to use
Should we be happy about this?
No chance the ACT announces it will follow suit in a couple of months?
The ACT is already available as a digital test. I highly doubt that they are going to take on a change at the same time because they stand to gain a lot of test takers who want to prep and don’t want to be stuck with few materials to prep with. They are at a huge advantage right now for the next three years in terms of attracting students because students don’t like to forge into the unknown when it comes to their test scores.
im 32 yo and international which i shud take act or sat?
Both, you may do better on either. If you suck at science don’t take the act.

@Jordan Rodriguez Are you taking the American diploma with no AP courses or something? Cuz it's super easy to get high grades in it without APs. I have friends who never touched a book in their lives and got 3.7 GPAs. The honest truth is that you can put more effort and score much higher on these standardized tests, as their main purpose is to show that your GPA isn't BS. Hope you find this useful
@Jordan Rodriguez Could be true, but it's just weird because that test score is below average. I took the SAT and bumped my score from 980 to 1280 but just studying for a few months. Plus, when I say anyone can get a high GPA, you forgot to include the part where it's a high GPA with no extracurricular. If you don't have APs, honors, or any challenging courses, then anyone can easily score above 3.7 as long as they care about their academics. America has the easiest education system by far.
the SAT should not exist
