Sony a7iv documentary shot in Puerto Escondido and Pinotepa De Don Luis in Oaxaca, Mexico
Survival of the Tixinda co-operative’s 3000-year-old Mixtec culture faces increasing challenges.
Illegal poaching and environmental challenges threaten an endangered snail which keeps this purple art alive.
For our latest documentary, we visited Pinotepa De Don Luis and learned more about the efforts to save this ancient tradition from disappearing.

What a great pleasure was to pass here. Thank you fro sharing. Thumb up.
Awesome job with sharing this story. There are so many similar stories around the world where ancient ways of life are being lost to rapid development. The textiles and process that went into the making of them was truly amazing.
Yes it’s a real shame! At least there are efforts to change the narrative and hopefully these changes last!
Good to see that in this fast paced world they have still preserved the traditional way. They should maintain it.
Seriously hat's off to This people who's preserving they're culture and tradition and make Beautiful things, how blessed they're,and they're so sweet people,i must thank Patrice for the initiative she's taking to spread this beauty to the world with this art,and can't thank you enough for this wonderful Video, and Yes you've got my subscription with Bell icon 🙏😊🤗

The weavers in the video are indeed adorable, clever, and interesting. They were able to proudly showcase their unique skills to the world. Surprisingly, they use snails as one indispensable material to turn each product into a beautiful creation.
Great video. Thanks for sharing this.
We appreciate the support Michelle! Thanks so much 🙏
Thanks so much for this very informative and eye opening video on the need for these snails to be saved fast to keep the Mixtec 3000 year old Tradition for the weavers to continue doing what they have been doing. Also the men of all ages walking for a long ways and working on getting this special dye that is needed for this tradition to be carried on. Nature is amazing and yes we need to work on preserving the creatures and feathered friends of all kinds for sure Jack and Tamara . So they don't go extinct . Well filmed and presented my lovely friends. Wonderful to see you getting this important message out. A pleasure to watch and be informed Irene. 💜🖌🐌🧶😟🧐

Wow, yet another engaging fantastic video guys😊🙌. The story of the dream weavers is incredible. The hours of labour that go into each piece is just mind blowing, not to mention the danger the guys put themselves in to get the dye from the sea snails😱. What a wonderful tradition, we hope it can continue and good on you both for shedding light on what is happening here. Make selling those snails extremely expensive OR charge heavy fines for killing & eating them. Value can be purchased if allowed to use responsibly. Anything to the contrary to Value is stealing.
Where do you learn Spanish?
Just through living in Latin America… I’ve never had formal classes. Apologies for any errors!
@@Outlawes Awesome indeed! Don't worry you didn't make any errors, you're spanish sounds good. Have you ever tried to make a film about street dogs? Because some mexicans are so selfish considering in buying breed dogs instead of adopting street puppies dogs. Thanks on making a video about my hometown's tradition.
