00:00 Introduction
This SKX011K model is the "Made in Japan" version of this model, hence the J in the reference. When first introduced, this model was made outside of Japan so it carried reference SKX011K. However, the K models were only made for a short time, with the majority of SKX011 available for sale today being the J version.
00:37 First Look & Case Dimensions
On the wrist, the Seiko SKX011 Orange Boy wears slightly larger on my wrist but it is not oversized or too big to be comfortable. As with all SKX watches, it is intended to serve as a professional diver's watch that needs to be able to sustain significant wear and tear.
The strap on this SKX011 is the black Seiko "wave" rubber strap which makes the watch wear larger on the wrist than if it were on a different strap such as a NATO fabric strap.
SKX011 Specs:
- 42.5mm case diameter
- 46mm lug-to-lug
- 22mm strap size (between the lugs)
- 13.4mm thick
02:35 Steel Case & Bezel Details
The SKX011 has a stainless steel case with mirror-polished case flanks and a brushed finish on top of the lugs and case.
This being a diver's watch, the steel bezel rotates unidirectionally and is marked by a metallic diver's scale insert. The insert has a diver's scale with a black background and gold-toned minute calibrations.
03:43 Diver's Bezel
The Seiko SKX013 has a 120-click unidirectional steel bezel with a black diver's scale insert. The outside edge of the bezel is textured to provide a better grip when rotating it. The insert has full 60-minute calibrations.
03:14 Crystal
As all Seiko SKX watches, and even the newer Seiko 5 Sports watches, this SKX011 has a Seiko Hardlex crystal. Hardlex is a proprietary Seiko material that resists scratches relatively well and is also shatter-proof (since it's essentially plastic.)
03:40 Seiko Orange Boy Dial
As the nickname implies, the Seiko SKX011 has a bright orange dial with white, luminous hour indices, black minute markings, gold-toned center hands (lumed), and a day-date aperture at 3 o'clock. The dial also boasts small printing under the 6 o'clock market that says "MADE IN JAPAN"
The lume used is Seiko LumiBrite and is green in color.
04:48 SKX011 Movement
The SKX011 is powered by an automatic Seiko 7S26 movement that has a 40-hour power reserve. This movement cannot be hand-wound nor does it have a hacking seconds function.
05:15 Setting Time & Date On A Seiko SKX011
[Demo of time-setting]
This SKX011 has two languages for the day: English and Arabic
05:50 Caseback Details
The SKX011 has a solid caseback with an embossed image of an ocean wave. There is also text reflecting the Country of Origin (Japan)
06:16 SKX011 Black Rubber Strap
This SKX011 is outfitted with a black rubber strap. This is the well-known Seiko SKX "wave" strap that has undulations near the attachment to the case.
While an iconic look, this strap can be uncomfortable to wear for a long time and may take some time to become accustomed to its rigid nature.
This watch is rated to 200m of depth so it could meet the ISO professional diver's watch standards.

I was at my local WaWa this morning grabbing a coffee and a gentleman in there was wearing this watch on a jubilee bracelet. I own the SKX009 and the new SSK003 blueberry GMT but man seeing this watch in person has me wanting this 011 bad . Love the Orange 🍊 dial on this watch . I do own a Orient Mforce Bravo watch with an Orange dial but this SKX011 is amazing 🤩
The orange of the SKX011 is definitely unique!
Well I did it and today received my brand new old stock SKX011J1 from Japan. I took off the rubber strap and put it on a new stock SKX jubilee bracelet. Loving this watch 👍🏻🍊💯
Great choice! Very glad to hear that you love it. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for it? I'm curious as SKX prices has been kind of all over the place during the past few years. Also, the fact that you purchased a new old stock model will have had a big effect on the price.

👀
Whoa, brother. Have to stop you on your claim that Seiko's Hardlex is either scratch proof or shatter proof. It is neither. It is much more easily scratched that sapphire and is not as shatter proof as some claim. If this were really "better" for diving watches, then all the high end brands would be tripping over themselves to dump sapphire and move to mineral crystal. Sorry, not true. :(
