I've been inspired by you before most of CZcams existed. Your the man! The first guy I found messing around with the big Bonham set up. Sounded great. Keep on rockin!
I dont know about those hate comments, but ever since I got my zep set (late 70s pearl fibreglass kit) some 10 years ago, you've been my go-to guy for all things related with playing and tuning a kit with these sizes. Your sound and playing is spot on dude!
As a drummer and a Bonham fan. I could tell you were using the camera mic and I enjoyed your playing. You have great content and right now putting together my TAMA superstar mahogany Neil Peart set like yours.
He thinks so much I’m glad you found my channel if you have any questions about anything just drop a line in the comment section and I’ll be happy to help. Keep Rockin JOEDRUMS2112
Sweet Kit Joe! I have the Centennial Zepp kit in transparent black maple in those same sizes. You should try putting the right overhead over your shoulder by the floor toms Glyn Jons style, don't record quite so hot and add a distant condenser room mic with lots of compression to blend in with the 4 other mikes, that adds a lot to that Bonham sound.
Thats a beautiful kit Joe. Don`t worry about those fools on the vistalite video. If someone doesnt understand that its a camera mic quality, there's not much you can do to speak the sense into them.
Thanks Joe for what its worth -2002’s went thin sounding over the years-there’s always the signature line-and oh. 3000 sound-edge hats. Have em. And these are rocked and roll hats-tits!
Hi Raul have you tried the neusonic ? To answer your question, honestly very hard to choose between legacy mahogany and maple and even a classic maple. Cause they are all great fantastic drums.
That is the 7ply classic maple kit. I looked online everywhere and nobody has my kit anymore. The small tom is a 14”x12”, all the other kits online are 14”x 10”. So if you’re trying to buy a Led Zeppelin kit make sure it has the size like Bonham‘s first maple kit 14“ x 12“. Everything else is the same. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. KEEP ROCKIN’ JOEDRUMS2112
Hey thanks for watching. I hope you’ll be a subscriber of mine, if you’re not already, the Zeppelin kit you are referring to is the CLASSIC MAPLE 4 Piece Zep Kit. I got it back in 2008. They are the 26x14” Bass, the Toms are 14”, 16”, and 18”. The Snare is a Ludwig 402 Supraphonic Snare Drum, 42 strand snares. The Cymbals are are all PAISTE 2002 series. Ride 24”, Crashes are 16”, 18”, and the Hi-Hats are 15”. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching KEEP ROCKIN’ JOEDRUMS2112
Welcome to the internet joe, some musicians dont understand that it's not the amount of money you paid for the drums it's the mics that you use that make the difference. You can get the same exact sound from some pdp kit as you could with a 5k dw collectors kit. The same goes for cymbals.
Man... what? No. I'm a sound engineer, and while I agree that you can get great sounds from a PDP (especially the first ones who used to be 2K..!!!) but to say you can get the same as a Bonham sized Ludwig Maple Custom is more than far-fetched. With camera mics clipping like crazy, of course, it's hard to tell the difference, but you really think a 22" is like a 26"...?? I mean... and don't get me started on the cymbals... you can get a cheaper kit to sound great, but cymbals?! Nope. Just, nope. Unless you want to be messing with EQ for hours in your mix to get 60% of what you could get with proper cymbals.
Bad ass kit! Bonham didn't use Ludwig Hi-Hat Stands... :D Don't listen to those knuckleheads They don't have your drums, your home, your kindness. They are powerless without your reaction.
Joe, do you have a email or a different way to contact you ? I want to ask you about mic my set with amp, to cover a outdoors live event on a football field with our band.
First of all, this kit is awesome. Second of fall, Led Zep drum tracks were recorded with a very specific technique that is *completely* different than the XY overheads and close mics on kick and snare that you are using...! Third of all, your mics are clearly clipping unfortunately. You *can* get the same sound in a home studio, but you need a skilled engineer to help you with that!
Yes you can, if you have a program on your Mac or PC that can record audio, you can hear in the headphones what you’re recording. Thanks for watching KEEP ROCKIN’ JOEDRUMS2112

Good stuff, keep them coming, enjoy all of your videos, greetings from Houston, thanks Joe
Great sounding drums and nice playing!
Joe, that drumkit is awesome!
Both of your Ludwig kits sound great - don't let any negative comments get to you - although I suppose this video is a resulting positive outcome!

That kit is awesome ,sounds great no matter how you mic it up
As a drummer and a Bonham fan. I could tell you were using the camera mic and I enjoyed your playing. You have great content and right now putting together my TAMA superstar mahogany Neil Peart set like yours.

Wow mister. You’re awesome!
Love the video.
I would still recommend you to lower the input on the mics, as they're still distorting quite a bit. The kit sounds awesome though!
Muy bueno maestro! Saludos desde argentina

Those Ludwigs sound like a lion’s roar! Thx for the fun video!👍

Hahaha that Tom is like a floor Tom on a snare stand.
Thanks Joe for what its worth -2002’s went thin sounding over the years-there’s always the signature line-and oh. 3000 sound-edge hats. Have em. And these are rocked and roll hats-tits!
Joe do the Vistalites like 👍 this awesome sound 🥁 on
Nice job Joe! Where did ya get that killer kit! No need to explain yourself to the haters out there who prolly can’t play half as good as you do!
Nice Drum set joe. Just Do You.
I think the new recording shows that the drums are very close to to the orignal john Bonham sound.
Man I can’t decide if I want to get the legacy mahogany or maple new Ludwigs.
Hi Raul have you tried the neusonic ?

Sound very really like bonzo...

I gotta admit the big PDP kit could get close, but still.
Cool beats man. Could I possibly sample them for a song? I’ll leave a link and shout out of course
