- You don't have to high speed troll to catch wahoo! This is how we catch a wahoo with a simple setup trolling all artificial lures.

In the beginning of this fishing video on how to catch Wahoo I show you a map of where we will be offshore trolling and then go over the rigs we are trolling.
We are fishing between 110-190ft depth water right off the reefs edge off Key Largo in the Florida Keys.
We are trolling dive plugs between 7-9mph
We catch a wahoo with this method and then it's wahoo catch and cook time! It would have been a catch clean cook but it was too dark when I cleaned the wahoo so it'll just be a good ole catch n cook

I can always count on the South Florida Fishing Channel to reel in the big fish and small fish. If it's a tuna or wahoo, she'll reel it in and hopefully I'll gaff it.
So trolling a dive plug at 9mph in this video is one way on how to catch wahoo without high speed trolling.

When I first moved to florida from north carolina my dad took me and my older brother on the drift boat. It was my first time fishing in a boat in the ocean. I was 13 yrs. old. We were close to the bow and a guy in the back hooked a bonita. He let it tangle 5 lines. I was walking down to get untangled when I got hammered! It ripped a couple hundred yds. in a sec. The mates knew it was huge by the drag. A mate came jumping over the benches with his plyer out cutting lines. Guy with the bonita yelled hey I had a fish. Mate said screw that bonita get behind the benches. Everyone had to reel up and let me have the whole side to fight it. Got it in 3 times but too deep to gaff. Finally two mates got it gaffed and it hit the deck. 52 lb. Wahoo jr. class rec. It was so close to Deerfield bch. pier 50 people all cheered they had watched for an hour and a half. Biggest fish of my life. Got a citation from the city for a record wahoo. Sorry for the long story.

I fish out of Key Largo fairly often you are welcome on my boat anytime.
living here in western New York, one time at a restaurant I was Chef at we got fresh Wahoo shipped up. To this day , I lust after this fish to eat. It was incredible. My chef days are over now but I still love to cook, especially seafood. thank H for this video! all i have is memories of wahoo. all good ones!

Love your channel I notice when you come back from fishing you always have sunburn !!!used to happen to me even with a t top.. I found out the white deck and all the white interior reflects the sun causing said sun burn ...till I painted interior a non reflective color in my case I painted a light blue... oh what a difference... keep up the fishing !!

My wife and I pulled the boat down to Taverner in hopes of escaping the wind and cold up here in North Florida. We were hoping to troll for Wahoo or at least hit the patch reefs. As luck would have it the weather followed us and we got blown off the water. Back to catching Wahoo vicariously through you...lol. Great video. Tight lines!
