In this offshore fishing episode on the South Florida Fishing Channel we are fishing the islamorada humps off the Florida keys. We do some deep dropping and also do some trolling for mahi and end up with a tasty toro snapper catch and cook.
While deep dropping I catch a toro snapper. And I'm pretty sure this is a world record fish! We also call toro snapper big eye snapper and glass eye snapper. But this is a toro snapper catch and cook!
This solo fishing trip offshore fishing the islamorada humps was such a great trip and a catch n cook fishing episode on the South Florida Fishing Channel that I will remember forever!
Did I mention this fishing episode ends in a cop chase?! That's cops fishing and a guy in fishing boat running from cops. Did not expect to see that on this catch and cook fishing episode where we do Blue tilefish vs toro snapper catch and cook.

What about the fact that there are tarpon at the Islamorada humps way offshore the florida keys?! I didn't know tarpon go offshore that far. I knew they went into the ocean but 20+ miles offshore?! I did not know that

That’s a good habit to put the boat in Neutral while u come down the tower in case if for some reason u ended up in the water the boat doesn’t keep going

Definitely a Toro. They look similar but a Alfonsino has a much smaller dorsal fin

That is why I wanted to go to Islamorada back when I was in my early 20's. Needless to say that was when you were a baby if that even. My oldest is 34 I fell in love with fishing a month after he was born!! My 1st Mother's day present from my husband.

Great Video! You should look into the FELL MARINE wireless kill switch system really good to have when fishing solo boat shuts off if you fall in the water I have it and fish solo a lot .
Boat looks good. I like casting a metal fish jig like a flat fall, iron or swimbaits at busting fish haven’t tried poppers but they look fun

Haven't had tower very long and mastered the fastest dismount.💪
7 knots is a really good trolling speed. Try it. It’ll seem fast but it’ll work pretty well. Helps when water is clear, fish can’t see lure detail as well when it’s moving fast. Good luck.

In the hospital now cause my boat literally blew up on me. Ur vids are keeping me going and making me continue my search for a new boat. holy smokes! You're in the hospital because of the boat blowing up or what?!
Sure am, previous owner 3 way'd the fuel sender to the auto bilge and thats hard wired so when I switched the battery off to fix crimps on sender somehow a spark ignited fumes in the compartment and was lucky enough to escape with my life and just really bad burns to the hands, wrists, elbows and back. Luckily saved my face, but the boat is GONE lol been in here for a week and completed final surgery friday so I'm just recovering now and catching ur vids for entertainment
If I could post pics of my recently skin grafted hands here I would lol Probably would help prevent a few boat disasters due to improper wiring lol
Always check where those wires go 100% before u touch em even if u think u know the boat well. Maybe save a fortune in hospital bills 👍👍

In Hawaii we take the smaller ones and fry them whole fry till crispy and it’s super super good one of the best fish from Hawaii

When you're deep dropping make sure your transducer is on 50 kilohertz. keep the boat running at the same speed the current is going until you hook up to a fish and the fish you caught is called a Toro fish
Definately a great day on the water. The deep drop fish is an Alfonsino. They are commonly caught in the 5 lb range. The Gale Force twins channel from Big Pine have a video of one they caught about 8 months ago. Keep up the fun videos.
