This fishing episode has a lot of fun things happen such as a mahi breaks rod and loosing my gaff (but don't worry it's a happy ending). This was a great day of fishing in the florida keys, I've been waiting on a good day of fishing to catch lots of mahi offshore like this for a while!
We start fishing in around 230ft and catch some bait, we start to slow troll the bait we caught and before you know it WHAM the first mahi is hooked. The trolling day just started and I can already see the catch and cook episode in the making!
This is a great fishing video on how to catch mahi you will see some of my mahi 101 tricks and tips. This was out of Key Largo but will pretty much be the same offshore trolling methods I would use to catch mahi anywhere else.
Dan from Florida Fishing Couple somehow manages to break one of his penn rods. opps! Trolling in the florida keys can get pretty exciting. And HOT, so we jump in around 1000 ft of water for a swim to cool off. Good thing none of use became shark bait today here in the Florida Keys!

i think this video is about four years old, but for some reason came up in my feed. You can really see how far the channel has come. I’m watching you cook up some mahi in an unheated pan - lol - do better next time and, and I’m watching you use a pepper grinder to put some spaces on it, and now you have your own line of spices which are awesome by the way. I didn’t get a chance to go fishing today, but I picked up some tilapia from the local store, brought it home and made up of breaded mixture of Panko along with your reaper seasoning for a spicy treat for dinner. Keep up the great content - really enjoy the channel.

nice vid a tip for keeping the mahi near the boat is when you have one hooked, keep him in the water by the boat and the rest of the school will stay!

Your content is just long enough for me to enjoy a nice Rocky Patel Nicaraguan Robusto. I used to enjoy offshore fishing quite a bit. However , now I have a bum knee that would sideline for 2 weeks if I tried anything but dead calm glass nearshore. I've been watching you and have been a sub for a few years. You have improved your salt water angling skills quite a bit in that time. My favorite video of yours was the Mahi Slam with your girlfriend. You were catching so many you didn't know whether to shit or wind your wrist watch. A dozen Dolphins,blood and guts all over the deck,you and your ladyfriend. Keep it up I'll keep watching and making ashes in the porch swing.

BTW, Here is a trick that has served me well more than a few times. Take a frozen cigar minnow and shove it up into a cleaned out squid tube and clip the tail of the cigar minnow. Circle hook through the squid flukes and cigs head. Great bait on the bottom but absolutely deadly on a flat line in the current whilst your attention is on the Mutton your trying to haul up from the deep. When that spinning reel goes off you'll thank me. This is also a good way of bulking up your massive bottom bait think 2lb Spanish mackerel in a big squid tube. Kelly Windes( local ledgend) out of Destin carried the World record for Red Snapper with that same setup for decades.

The subscriber tripped over the rod earlier in the video. Probably caused a fracture in the graphite and later a fish broke it with enough pressure.
