A few strange things happened in this fishing episode. I guess strange things happen in Key Largo, especially when you go from Key Largo to the Islamorada humps. Screw it all of Florida something strange is bound to happen, especially in South Florida.
Everything from deep dropping to falling in love to catching mahi mahi to doing a catch clean cook to losing thousands of dollars all in one day. Who knew that fishing south florida could be so crazy!
We head out to the Islamorada humps from Key Largo originally to do some deep dropping but end up running into the mahi mahi. That was a nice surprise! The mahi fishing was on fire! Our boat got so bloody it was amazing, it's always a good sign to have a bloody boat after mahi mahi fishing. You know it's going to be a mahi catch and cook at that point.
We didn't catch anything deep dropping, only a few hits. We will try deep dropping the islamorada humps again later next week so stay tuned for that fishing episode. Hopefully that deep dropping will be a catch clean cook with some bottom grouper.
But hey we can't complain when we have a mahi catch and cook! We clean the mahi 2 ways during the catch and cook, one where we pull the skin off and one where we cut the skin off the mahi mahi. You pick which mahi filleting style you prefer.

The reason I prefer your fishing channel over others is because it is real. You show the up and downs whether it is a bad day fishing or in your personal life and also the great days. After reading the title, I kept watching for the power rod and reel to go into the water and the you losing some camera equipment during the fishing frenzy. Never did I imagine your true loss. Your attitude towards your family loss and your willingness to tell your story so that other might learn shows outstanding character Love your channel Heiko, tight lines.

I will NEVER forget fishing in Key West. My parents and I went down there back in 1996 or 97 and I brought my fishing rod down there from Brandon, FL, where we lived. I caught SO many red snapper, Jack Cravelle, and even a couple decent sized Tarpon on a two-piece medium Quantum Snap-Shot rod and reel with 12 lb mono...lmao I don't even know how I landed all those fish with that crappy rod and reel, ESPECIALLY with 12 lb cheap mono...I must've just gotten lucky.
I will never forget fishing in St Thomas USVI back in the mid 90s on a private charter and I caught a 7.5 lb blackfin tuna (which is rare to St Thomas), a bunch of big (4 ft long) barracuda, and I also caught a bull mahi that was 58.5" long, 38 lbs on a full squid. That was fun. The captain started flipping out and threw his line in the water to catch the schoolers that were following mine. The mate threw my fish in a 55 gallon cooler and it's tail was sticking out because it didn't fit. My parents and I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and my dad and I went on that private charter because my dad won over $4500 in the casino on the ship. He's REALLY good at blackjack. Those were the days man. My dad went to the Bacardi factory in San Juan, PR and bought a case of fifths of Bacardi Spiced Rum and we sat around and got hammered on the ship...lmao
I go to the Keys every year for vacation and catch the same fish on charter boats so watching this channel is like another great vacation!
Sorry to hear about your loss my brother, mean people suck! My wife and I were hacked 4 times last year, we were able to recover it all and now we do NOT keep any info on our phones, we don't have a debit card, only use cash and only use our online banking while at home. You seem to be a driven person and I hope you and your brother come out on the sunny side.

South Florida Fishing Channel did you take advantage of Snapper season? Didn’t see any vids from you. We went off Savannah (1 per guy) and I caught a 28 incher and my brother got a monster 35 incher! Then another 6 smaller ones for the rest of the boat.
I want to start out saying...Golly G. !!! Complete, and Total Chaos !!! Big Fish EVERYWHERE ! 3 men, 3 poles, 3 fish on at same time. All that excitement was already TOO MUCH !!! Then I hear Heiko yell... ""MAN OVERBOARD"" ! WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED ? Did a fish pull some one in the water? Did the guy slip on all that fish blood ? This is the most EXCITING video I have ever watched in my life ! The fish just kept on coming like Mana from the sky ! This video will go down as one of ( if not the best fishing experience of your life ) ! ! ! I can watch this video over & over again ! As for the bad crap in this video... Heiko man sorry to hear about the business ordeal I hope you and your brother will recover and as far as the fishing part that was some smoking line action and as soon as you put that fish in that hot sauce my mouth started watering I’m going to try that recipe out for sue. little tip: if you skin the dolphin like a regular fish and don't peel the skin off you get rid of that membrane on the skin side of the meat.
I think the top left knob on the real controls the released drag weight so you don’t have to hold a towel with your thumb. Kinda like the brake on on a bait caster.
