  • Why would a mechanic not complete a job on this 2018 Porsche Macan GTS? Why would they just say 'screw it' and leave the repair incomplete? The CAR WIZARD đŸ§™â€â™‚ïž shows exactly what he found and how it was an insanely cheap fix.

Sorry Mrs. Wizard, the center clock is a traditional Porsche design item. In the Macan, it shows it got the Sports Chrono package, the same as the sports cars. In the Cayenne, it is a stand alone design. Not sure when Maserati started the center console clock design. [edit: correction - thanks to 97c2s993, I now realize that the Macan, like the Cayenne, has the SC hump even without the SC package]

To keep the car from knowing this, the old sensor plugs are cut off, their wires shorted together, and the whole wad gets stashed in a safe area. With all things Covid, when the repairing shop went to get parts the sensors they may have been unavailable. We’ve run into that with Mercedes, lots of B/O parts. So maybe they changed the pads and told the customer about the sensor and they either didn’t listen or remember what they were told. It’s not going to prevent safe operation of the vehicle. I would say if they had just said screw it, they wouldn’t have bothered taping the connectors up, you would’ve found them just dangling. There’s more to the story we just don’t know what it is.

Hes a nice guy. No, really. He just knows what some people want to see, and pander to them. It really in principle is no different to a blockbuster movie smashing cars during a car chase scene. Destruction for entertainment.

Love your vids! Mrs really likes her Macan S. Daily driver. No kids at home and only one dog now. Perfect.
The mahogany exterior and brown leather interior is beautiful.
Ps I hear the same injector chatter on her car. Sounds like my little diesel Colorado

The 1984 to 1996 C4 Corvette or the first gen Dodge Viper would easily outclass this car for large hood panels. Technically the first gen Viper holds the record for the single largest body panel on a car (front clamshell hood is an est $11k to replace).

Is it the DI injectors making the noise or the cam driven DI high pressure fuel pumps?

In times past there was a time when car brakes did not have wear sensors. Also cars did not have tire pressure monitor sensors. The person who did the brake job was likely an older mechanic that remembered when cars did not have brake wear sensors and thought that these brake wear sensors were an unnecessary item and removed them.
