  • Buying a Porsche Macan? Then this is the video to watch. In this buying and depreciation guide of the Macan, I am showing you the full depreciation curve, the depreciation per year and per 1000 miles driven. Furthermore, I show you how these differ for the base model, the S, the GTS, and the Turbo.
You can contact me on fourwheeltrader@gmail.com if you would like a personalized analysis.
The video is structured in a top-down way. That means that we first have a look at the full market and some general price levels. After this, we will dive into the details.
Specifically, this means that the video for the Porsche Macan is split into a few parts. We start by having a look at the Macan market. Here we can see that the market is quite large. We will also split the market by the base model, the macan s, the gts and the turbo. After this, we have a look at the depreciation per year for each individual model. You can see that there is quite a lot of overlap between the prices. If you are, for example, in the market for a Macan S, you could also consider a GTS. In terms of numbers, the different models all have a similair relative depreciation rate. This also goes for the depreciation per 1000 miles driven. Unfortunately, i don't have any ther SUV's on the depreciation leaderboard to compare the Macan with. If we, however, compare it to some other sport and supercars, then we can see that the Macan does an excellent job. We conclude then also with the message that the Macan is not just a Porsche when in comes to it's driving capabilities. Also in terms of values it behaves exactly like one.

I agree, you should try to seek out another YT channel to see if you can get a mention, or share your data in their car reviews and give you a plug! The car reviewers that come to mind are Alex on Autos, he is very thorough and detailed, he would be my first guess, then SavageGeese, possibly StraightPipes? I would appeal to them by mentioning that you think you have something good to offer but no one knows about your channel because you have so few subs. Maybe they will empathize being in your position and maybe they can pay it forward and help you out. I would only target channels with huge followings! I would recommend Scotty Kilmer too, he has a huge following!! Also, maybe pitch to them that they can do follow up reviews on older models too using your data. You need a symbiotic relationship with them if it is possible! Good luck!!

That change in price at 2017 isn't because of Sport Chrono, you could get that on a 2015 or 2016, it's because the 2017 introduced the GTS model and slightly refreshed the dash and electronics; there's a jump in all models for the 2017 model year.

It makes it kinda confusing to move backwards like you did around the 5min mark I believe it was, when you started saying "In the first year of ownership you’ll see the depreciation of the Macan............" And your visuals move from present day backwards into the past.

@@Embrxceyourdemons it's an amazing car!. I recommend spending the money for a quick inspection, ideally by a Porsche dealer. There are a few things that go wrong, but I heard that the problems appear before 50k so 70k might be a good thing if everything checks. A Porsche engine will typically last 300k miles.

@@i1pro yes I’m gonna try to coordinate that the vehicle is currently being sold by a Toyota dealership. Seems like a blast @ 400 hp but it will hopefully be an asset and not liability will be planning on hosting it on Turo and 31k for a older 2017 Macan turbo compared to 25k for a Macan base just seems too good to pass up if all checks out

Buy only if you don’t plan to drive it in snow. Porsche AWD is a joke..You need snow tires? But why?

Appreciate your research on depreciation, BUT all German cars are empty $ pits as they age (approx 5 years) with high mileage (approx over 75k), especially BMW’s. The money you think you’re saving from low depreciation is overtaken by high maintenance and repair costs over the duration of ownership.

Depends on which car you are looking at. Also, it is unlikely that you will spend 30k on maintenance while it is likely that you will lose 30k to depreciation.

Fourwheel Trader - Car depreciation analysis I bought a 2013 X5 in Summer of 2018 with 94k miles. Within a LONG 8 months I dropped nearly $2,500 into it for front end suspension, leaking rear differential and a frozen door lock. This was with an extended warranty. I couldn’t sell that piece of crap privately and wound up trading it in for my excellent 2013 Lexus ES 350 with only 30,009 miles. My bad for not Doing enough research before buying that X5.
Repair cost versus depreciation costs are relative to the age & mileage of the vehicle. I certainly wouldn’t touch another German car with a 10 foot pole. Reliability and high maintenance/repair costs are unnecessary headaches when I know for a fact a Lexus (Toyota) will give me years of trouble free ownership.

Stephen DiBari silly you shouldn’t be buying a 5 year old x5 with 98k you don’t know how the first owner/‘s treated it then complaining about high repair costs buy something newer more appropriate to your pocket.

Kyle I did, my comments above stated i bought a 2013 Lexus ES350 w only 30k miles. Lexus IS the best & most reliable auto company in the world

I owned a Porsche 911-- 997.1-- for a period of two years that I sold for quite close to what I paid for it. Maintenance and repair costs were minimal at an independent mechanic. Put 15,000 miles on it.
