I hope now, you realize why this fandom is so protective and aggressive when it comes to hate/disrespect
We aren't called ARMY for no reason. We protect BTS and support them in any way we can. That's our job.
BTS returns the favor by protecting and supporting us as well. Whether it be interviewers that call us crazy fangirls or any ARMY that goes through a rough time, the boys try their hardest to protect us.
Boybands are known for having fans that protect them to no end. However, BTS is the only band who actively works to protect us back. We work hand in hand, like a family. BTS=ARMY.

Well said, I completely agree! To people from the outside, it may seem like army is super aggressive, negative, and toxic, but that’s only like 15% of the fandom, maybe even 10%. Most of the fandom is normal and positive and welcoming. As long as someone respects the boys, we respect them. We give people the same treatment they give the boys.

And on top of that, there's not just a relationship between BTS and ARMY, but also between Armies themselves. I see it all the time on the Weverse app. People posting saying their having a rough time, and maybe BTS doesn't see all of them because so many comments are sent every minute, but I'll see other Armies responding back with encouraging words or relevant BTS lyrics to be a comfort. It a true community, the likes of which I have never seen. Somehow, BTS makes us feel closer to them and also closer to each other at the same time, even though many of us will never meet. And we don't need to to know that we are loved. That's the power BTS holds and it's a beautiful thing. Borahae fellow ARMY!! 💜💜💜

RM mentioned ARMY in his very first United Nations speech. BTS always mention ARMY in every winning speech. And they create so many songs (even their love songs) are for/inspired from ARMY. Haters will never understand :') 💜💜💜 *I never into K-Pop (or even Pop songs in general). But this boy band ... 💜💜💜

    - V telling ARMY about his grandma at a koncert was at least partially because they had expressed concerns online about him looking depressed and tired lately and they were really worried about him. So he wanted to assure them that he was basically ok but greaving. 💔
    - The accusations about misogynistic lyrics largely hang on cover snippets of two american rap songs RM released online outside of BTS and the song War of Hormone. The snippets contain slang that doesn't translate well to say the least. War of Hormone is basically an honest look into a teenage boys mind which I'm not sure people understood. Add to that a rather conservative society and you have a powder keg.

Why the death threats? In my 4 years as an army who listens a lot different music genres, Ive seen that the hate in western countries comes often because of prejudice. Bts looks seem to scare certain toxic masculine people, they often wear feminine jewlary and mix female and male clotheslines, they allways look pristine and georgeous, they are happy and positive and amazing dancers, sometimes very sensual, flirty dancers also. And this all is scary to some people whose idea of men is different, whose idea of music is different, who think pop music cant be real music and are angry that this bubblegum, manufactured boyband has gotten this much fame and glory and in their minds its because people dont understand what real music and art is. What I love about Bts is the thing that they break so many barriers, they make pop music that has a message, they break gender style boundaries, redefine masculinity, show that you can be goofy and adorable and still serious, when its about music that you make. Kpop fandoms then, thats a totally another issues, Ive never seen that kind of anti action in my 40 year life before got to know Bts. In kpop, there is so many toxic fans whose main purpose is to bash other bands. And sometimes if people come to your videos saying bad things to you, you cant even be sure if they are armys or if they are antis, who come to Bts videos wanting to make the army look bad. Im telling you, Ive never seen this kind of thing, so weird. But I am loving your videos, thank you for making these! 💜

I am a 67 year old Army who discovered these wonderful boys in 2015. I have never in all my years seen the level of hate against a musical artist until I got into them. Social media makes it too easy to spew this type of hate, and I find it really sad. It serves no purpose, and it makes me wonder what goes on in a persons life that makes them so hateful. There is a lighter video called Karma is an Army that kinda talks about hateful comments, but shows how Army comes through for them. You might enjoy watching that. The song that was mentioned to have lyrics against women is called "War of Hormone" which is actually one of my favorited songs by them. The lyrics are actually pretty tame, and compared to what's spewed in todays lyrics I don't understand the problem. Death threats are on another level. Someone who would stoop that low needs some serious help. That is beyond mental. I just try to ignore all the negative things I hear and just try to focus on BTS themselves, because at the end of the day, they are what matters. They are 7 of the most talented peopled I have ever had the pleasure of discovering. I really hope you continue on this journey. It will be one of the most enjoyable adventures of your life, I promise.

I’m the same! I’m 51 and was never into boy bands especially. When BTS dropped their debut MV I was at a friend’s house just catching up on the latest groups to come out.
I did cringe a little, I can’t lie. But I could see what they were trying to convey, and the song was so catchy. The DANCING really made me do a double-take, because there was something more to it than the other Kpop groups I’d been enjoying.
Time went by, more songs came out, and eventually they put out their No More Dream dance practice. “Dance practice?? They’re sharing their DANCE PRACTICE?!? Where’s the popcorn, girl press play, nobody does this.” (But now they do. *ahem* say it with me now-BTS paved the way. 😄)
I’m a dance fanatic and it was all over but the shouting at that point. And I’ve never looked back. These guys are just amazing. 💜

To give a little context on V talking about his grandmothers death: this was during one of their concerts and he did it to address some comments from fans asking if he was ok perhaps because he has been looking kinda down for a while. He was really broken by her death because he was on their world the tour when she died and he was not able to come back home immediately for it. He also said that it was his dream to give a shout out to his grandma while in one of the tv shows but never got to because they only got the opportunity when they won more which was more than a month after her death. He said he believed that his grandma was now their guardian Angel that watches over them. And if you just knew how significant this is… he has always believed in angels and to this day we see him call upon angels for luck and protection when playing games in their variety shows 💜 such a sweet sweet boy

You can see it in their performances, their interactions with others, and when I started watching their shows (Run BTS, Bon Voyage, and BTS in the Soop) they just give off positivity and their love for each other. About the hate let me explain it to you, Back in the days from years 2013-2016 most of the hate they got was mainly from "FANWARS" ( Self explicable, this is because Kpop has a hundred of groups and each has a fanbase but these small fanbases got jealous of what BTS is receiving so its been a part of their lives to drag BTS down), And when BTS started promoting in the west they got so much popular than before making them the first ever kpop boy group to chart in the BBMAS and has reached the highest place as a kpop group back in 2017, but some western media couldnt accept this kpop thing and some has degraded the industry and mainly was the targeted kpop group BTS since they were the biggest at that time. But who cares about those hate we just going to keep on grinding.

BTS was getting hate in Korea before they got big. Fandoms for other groups were feeling threatened that these guys could really top their favorites. But it also wasn't just from the fandoms, the other record labels also had pull with the media. But now that BTS are one of they biggest artists in the world they really are the pride of South Korea, even to citizens who don't even listen to kpop.
BTS are now and have been dealing with the blind hatred from western audiences, people deliberately making comments "I thought they were girls" "they must be lip syncing."... It's at a point right now where their chart success is "diminishing the importance of the charts".
These guys really can't catch a break anywhere they go, but the beautiful thing is that none of it has ever stopped them. They are reaching higher than any of their dreams could have imagined, and they do it the fans follow them because of their sincerity.
ARMY and BTS really have a symbiotic relationship of taking care of eachother and working hard for eachother. It's a wonderful thing to be a part of.

His tears are genuine, and it took enormous courage for such a young man to talk about a very personal and painful event, in front of thousands - he could not help but cry, he adored his Grandma - and he was still just 20 years old here (it’s November 2016, and he would turn 21 on December 30th). True, but BTS is different, they make you feel belonged and known, that BTS & ARMY are in this together forever. They showed our unity through music, through the lyrics, what they said in Livestream, the way they show gratitude, they make songs that said "our connection is destiny, if there is no you there is no me". BTS have changed the industry by their authenticity, they changed the idea that connection through online is temporary, they bring meanings to this connection and relationship of BTS & ARMY. Im so proud of them and I want to be here forever. Even when Im older, when maybe im a bit wiser and a bit more mature, I just wanted to be here as Army who appreciate BTS's arts and music, who appreciate their existence as human who live everyday trying to be better. As long as BTS will be here to give us their voices and art, i will be here to appreciate them for as long as i can.

i want to mention something they've said this june during the 8th anniversary celebration. the theme of the talk was "2!3!" which is a 2016 song for the fans with a really sweet and comforting message (which was also playing in the end of the video). “2, 3” is what bts say before introducing themselves, and this phrase is also used for hypnotherapy. the song is about finding comfort in each other while using pain, suffering and sadness in ourselves as a motivation to live through these hardships
so the qoute (i combined words from a few members as they were discussing it all together)
"Let's have some time to think about its meaning once again. We had been through a hard time, but army... got hurt too. We were supposed to shield all the repression, but army were enduring it with us. Through this song, I feel like it became a secret code for army and us. I feel like we can talk about this now and here what I think. For those three years, 2015, 2016, 2017, it was tough for us and our fans and there were many people who hated us. army were trying so hard to protect us and we tried harder than anyone else [to prove themselves] while making content and doing other things. When I look back at those three years they mean a lot to me. It was such a good song that comforted us. We'll sing it on stage [again] with army someday. When we sing 2!3! you can see army fans at the front line and they all cry" (from [2021 FESTA] BTS (방탄소년단) ‘아미 만물상점’ #2021BTSFESTA)
i just think it shows the connection we have and that we try to take care of each other the way we can. bts and army are a family
if you are interested in the song, i really recommend to watch this particular performance, when army made a surprise project for bts concert to turn all lights at the stadium purple (before that lightsticks were only white, and that's actually how purple became bts' color, but that's another story) it's very touching. bts's speeches have subs there. search it as "2! 3! (2016 Purple ocean project by Army and BTS reaction to it) @ 3rd Muster in Seoul 161113"
sadly there's no lyric subs in this video, so you can refer to the Doolsetbangtan website for a good translation (we will gladly watch lyric analysis too) or at least use lyric videos on yt from the channels like af taehyung, kpop vine or zaty farhani, who has decent translations and line distribution
i also really hope you'll watch an updated version of 'bts hardships' as it covers more indepth
    thank you~

the song that they were accused of being misogynistic on was "War of Hormones" which is literally a song that tries to depict a teenager's angst/first love of women. BTS specifically stated that they were incredibly precise with their word choice in order to make the satire more pointed. The lyric people got mad about was "women are like equations that men solve." They said it was objectifying women, but as someone who listens to rap daily I really have to laugh.....like it makes complete sense in the context of the song and the hate felt more of like a pointed attack rather than genuine worry or critisism

Yeah exactly. Their facial expressions in the MV are exaggerated/funny and show that the song is kind of joking on them. I'd consider myself feminist and don't think their early songs were that enlightened about attitudes towards women, but I don't see any offense in WOH. The chorus lyrics "girl, tell me what you want right now" is actually 100% positive in my books!

I truly believe that they have the power to change the world for the better. I have become so much more open-minded about life since becoming a fan 4 years ago. I've never seen so much genuine support for an artist before, and I've also never seen so much absolute hate for them either. There really isn't any good reason to dislike them, in my opinion. I'm not saying that everyone has to enjoy or like their music, but their core values are 100% something that should be respected by everyone. Positivity, kindness, healing, equality, and unity - what is there not to appreciate?

The clip with V talking about his grandmother... he began by explaining that fans kept asking/telling him that he looked sad so he wanted to explain to the fans why he seemed sad lately. Also, the 49th day after a death is meaningful in Buddhism; it has to do with the death and rebirth cycle before one reached enlightenment.

This video break my heart each time. Specially beacuse they were so young when they made their début ! Jungkook the youngest have only 15 years old (he became a trainee under Big Hit Entertainement at 13 ! ), and Jin the oldest was just 20. Facing so much hate, mistreatments, and disrespect is hard for an adult, but it's realy destructive for a adolescent. ,RM and also Jimin were victims of death threads . Fortunatly, they have each other as a brotherhood, they have Big Hit and the staff to help, caring and cheering, and they have ARMY in their back. They are now beautiful adults, with beautiful minds , positive value, and great ethic. I'm so proud of them ! They are not only great artists, but role models, and inspirational human being. But they still face hate and prejudice now, from antis, and from some western médias, radios, and organisations...

Might be worth mentioning Big Hit/HYBE, BTS label started a no tolerance towards hate, harassment towards BTS and such and have a legal team constantly working on this that one can report these things to and they have a no leniency and no settlement policy and have taken quite many to court over their online activities towards BTS. (Just wanted to add that so you know BTS isnt alone they have good support by their label and ofc ARMY). What this didnt cover is how the media talks to and about them the updated version of this is better (Media would never speak to and about a western artist like they do BTS...). As for best overview of the members i really like Ida S “An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update)” its the most updated and its not biased (there is another popular one out there that many watch but its quite outdated).

I really appreciate your approach to getting to know BTS! It means a lot to see you really appreciating and caring about understanding them.
I think it’s a good choice to look a video that focuses on each member!
After that, I strongly suggest asking for recommendations for a video of them being silly/funny/loving with each other. When I first heard their music and saw them perform, I was impressed. But the reason I dove deeper and really became an ARMY, was because of the honesty and authenticity that shines through their non-music content. They have a tv style show plus multiple season of travel vlog/reality show, their own livestreams, plus many episodes backstage and little clips on their CZcams channel (bangtantv). There are hundreds of hours of content. What I love is that as they got more and more famous, they never lost their playfulness and real ness and silliness. They are so honest with their fans. And it’s also so nice to see them challenging some of the toxic masculinity standards. They aren’t afraid to show emotion (as you saw with V in this video) or show each other affection. They are such incredible role models.

About Suga's depression, he had been hired as a producer to make music after he lost a rapping contest that was run by Big Hit. After they hired him Bang Shi Hyuk personally encouraged him to become part of the group he was putting together a hip hop group he told him and no no you are not going to have to dance don't worry it will be great for you. In hind sight I think Bang Shi Hyuk might have noticed that Suga was depressed and felt that leaving him in a background role would not be good for him. He needed to be part of BTS and be in the Limelight to see how much people enjoyed his music and more so as a rapper his flow and yes his poetry. His specific work is a work of art. I am almost 60 and listening to Suga rap the way he uses his breath to control his flow of rap is just beautiful.
As far as the mysognistic lyrics were not that it was others making them feel like their work was bad. You should listen to those songs. These 2 songs that they wrote, I think were just songs of boys, young men, who were expressing how they felt about their girls, of how they looks, of how they walked, of how they talked. This was a persons song about love, young love and the hormones that go with it. It makes total sense to me. "Boy In Love" and "War of Horomones" are the names of these songs.

I loved this. Its okay to feel bummed. We all feel bummed when we see them being misconstrued or attacked just as we do our own loved ones. That's why we will continue to support them- because they've worked hard and deserve all the love. They sacrificed their youth for their own passion- for their fans. Their "Blood Sweat & Tears" were shed and that's something to be respected. They're artists who appealed to our souls and inspired us to do the best we can and deal with negativity in a positive way. I really appreciate your commentary. I'm 35 and I found them at the hardest time in my life- their music has inspired me to be a better human for myself, my family, my friends, and random ppl around me. They've motivated me to become more resilient in my personal life through the messages they share but especially their willingness to be vulnerable and open 💜 BTSxARMY have a mutually exclusive relationship that transcends "traditional" concepts. It truly feels like a Renaissance. ARMYs are patrons of art and BTS is our artist.

You have gained another subscriber. Love your reactions. You actually seem interested and wanting to learn and understand them. It is many youtubers that only use bts for clout because they know they have a big fanbase. Looking forward to your future reactions!

Thank you so much for appreciating us 😊 it makes me so happy when someone sees us as who we are instead of the stereotypical names attached to us like toxic, immature, mindless, fanatic etc. People don't realise why we're called that in the first place. It's not our fault, we simply want to defend the people we love.

I really like your humble reactions to BTS and I'm glad you will go on this journey. They are worth it, they are such beautiful and talented people 💜
Their music and their whole work (like all the videos, vlogs, Shows, the funny stuff etc) helped me so much in my own life, to see things from a different angle and specially to love myself more and become a better person

Thank you for your sincere interest in BTS! As you will be watching more background information, you might want to know that Koreans count age differently. So, when the members themselves talk about their age, you should keep that in mind. You need to deduct 1-2 years because Koreans are consideed 1 year old when they get born and automatically turn a year older each January, no matter when their birthday is (in December, for example). So, for example, Jungkook was 17 in Korean age when he debuted with BTS, but in international age he was only 15.
