Thanks for letting us go into your house and appreciate such a wonderful collection
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank YOU! 😁
Excited to see that recent acquisition book unveiled to the community.
I'm so behind on my schedule otherwise it would already have been up - apologies. Hopefully soon!
Epic
Glad to see the intro once again, what an epic cave for these giants
Haha thanks! And I missed the title too! 😀
Your collection is truly marvelous.
Thank you!
Awesome, I wish every classic was made on this format. And I see you have some Lego. This is where my true passion as a collector resides, I'm somewhat new to comics as a "serious hobby", but my Lego pieces have been with me (and miraculously reproducing by themselves) for quite some dozen years by now!
I'm sort of the flipped version of you - I've been reading comics all my life, but Lego is a relatively recent love (five years ago?)
But that 'miraculous reproduction' you are talking about is what has caused this shelf to fill up! First I had decided I would not get more Lego than I could display; then I started cycling through them, packing some up when I built new sets; and now I have a couple of sets I have not yet built! That's why I've decided to put the brakes on for now. I'm worried about ending up hoarding more than building/setting up and it's a bit too easy for me to get sucked into that! 😀
A first time reaction video to that little Nemo would greatly interest me.
Thanks, I'd love to do one as well, so hopefully soon! 😀
Dammit everytime I see those Usagi Gallery editions, I kick myself for not buying them.
They are simply lovely, The first one is still easily available I think, but for some reason the second one has stupid prices against it now!
Great "little" shelf!
I'm doing Prince Valiant in box sets and they are incredibly beautiful and sturdy. There are two boxes out, with 1-3 and 4-6, and the third one is coming out in November, with volume 7-9. I'm not certain but I think they release at least a box per year. Wish they did two, maybe they will! Cheers!
That's it, I'm capitulating and getting the first box, Thanks a lot😋!
For the Love of Comics Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! :) Cheers and keep doing videos! 🍻🙌
Love your videos, I play them on loop while I working at my art desk. Inspires me to make my own video of my own collection. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! Do send me a link to your video of you make one!
Deeply admire your purchasing power! Have only three oversize books, myself, two Thorne Red Sonja, and one Wednesday Comics (alas in Italian because I didn't read the p.r. copy thoughtfully (heh--all it said was made in Italy..!). But the Usagis! Ahhhhh. & Lone Wolf and Elfquest, both favorites of mine, as well. Would like some slow looks at the Walt & Skeezix pages, when you get around to filming. And yes, the same for the original pages. I have a few of those and enjoy them every day as they're on a wall near the kitchen, where I go and stare at them while the noodles boil over... Thanks for another enjoyable (and I do like them short as this one!) video.
With great purchasing power comes great purchasing responsibility! 😀
But I do love large editions for masterpieces, storage issues notwithstanding. Since comics are such a love of mine and regular singles/monthlies just don't feature in my environment, I make it up by doubling down on the bound volumes!
I have a couple of pages on the walls as well, they really change the whole mood of the place, don't they?
@@ftloc yep they do. And god bless tolerant spouses!
@@ftloc though they are a bit pushy towards the purse, they are worth the diem...
Thanks for sharing! Would love to see a in depth video about C Ware's Monograph (there's also a limited signed ed with a giant ex libris, sold for same prize but was hard to find - living in Belgium, was able to find and pick up a copy in Melbourne...). btw can't wait for the upcoming Rusty Brown. It would have been interesting to see your original art!
That sounds like a wonderful edition, and yes the Rusty Brown collection looks like a handsome edition, quite similar to the Walt and Skeezix dailies! 😀
It was hard enough to shoot in this dark corner, managing the portfolios would have been pretty tough. Maybe a separate video one day!
btw I bought a page published in Monograph at the Adam Baumgold gallery www.2dgalleries.com/art/chris-ware-waking-up-blind-cut-out-house-94691 (it's one of my smaller - in size - Ware's, the smallest has yet to arrive).
@@driesdewulf770 I'm so jealous you have Chris Ware art! 😁
I actually had to use a magnifying glass to read some of Monograph.
Chris Ware 'merch' should include a deluxe, lay-on-the-book type glass.. I need one at least once for each of his books, so it would be a worthwhile investment. 😉
Solo puedo sentir envidia 😍
Muchas gracias!
Alternate title suggestion: I Store Giants 😃
I'm still looking for a better way to store my giant editions, currently they're stashed on top my shelf.
P.S. Is that a first double camera use?
Haha, or I Read Giants, perhaps? I've seen libraries store giant folio and other editions flat on their back, but they don't stack any on top, so no way that can be done at home. I was glad to find this deep shelf, not always easy to get.
And actually, this is still the one and only camera I use. I just shot some side view footage later to splice in. It made the whole thing much more laborious to make, but I think it helps the size and perspective, and connects a bit to the other shelf videos. What do you think?
Great video! I hate oversized comics! I can't put them anywhere :) just realized that your comic collection is huge! And one funny comment I was watching couple of month ago one of the videos with my gf and she commented that you must to have Lego as well coz I love it :D you should do a video about your Lego collection
Haha great minds think alike! I was asked for a Lego video but it's just a small and not very impressive collection, but it has been requested before. There are some quick glimpses of some pieces in my '11 Shelves of Comics' update but maybe I'll make an 'extra' video one day featuring Lego!
Would love to see an unboxing and review of the little nemo volume 2 book you recently acquired. Not many people have those books and it will serve the public well. Watching your nemo volume 1 review is how I came to know of little nemo and subsequently purchased it.
I was thinking the same thing and now you are one of a couple of people who think it would be a good idea. That means I'll probably do it soon!
Both Nemo books are my most prized possessions. The best presentation, and thanks to your previous video on the different formats I bought both XL editions.
@@jabezcreed In my opinion if cost is an issue, I feel the Taschen is the way to go to get all the strips vs the Sunday Press. That's what I did. Although, the Sunday Press seems amazing in the larger format. But I think the page quality and colors are identical if I'm not mistaken.
@@jabezcreed I think I may buy this to read the large books: czcams.com/video/1Ji1oOzazRg/video.html
jabezcreed you may like to have a digital copy also. If you read em on a tablet, you get the benefit of being able to zoom in on panels. But I’m not sure if the quality(colors) of the digital scans are good as the Taschen pages. www.comicstriplibrary.org/browse/results?title=2
Wow, first of All, I just love these kinds of formats. I have the first Little Nemo and I'm waiting the second one to get a better price here in Brazil so I can buy to myfelf for christmas (The girlfriend doens not let me do it if is not on a special occasion).
And seriously, I don't know why you didn't do already an episode for Monograph. I just want one know badly. O love Chris Ware, but never got to this book cause I didn't thought it matter that Much. Now I wanna know more, specially if it comes from you.
Brbr huehuehue
I know that many people consider Monograph to not be a 'real' book - perhaps because they aren't interested in things like Ware's Acme Novelty Date Book sketchbooks. I'd love to do a video on it to disprove the idea it is a random collection of odds and ends; I just didn't know if people would be interested. I'll start thinking about the best way to present and talk about it!
@@ftloc oh, I really wanted to see anybody talking in deph about Monograph, and seeing that you até becoming my favorite comicbook tuber I would love to hear It from you! And really, I want to know more about It, só I can know Better If os worth It.
@@igorfrederico2629 Thanks so much! I'll definitely have at least a quick look at it up soon now that I know it will be appreciated by at least one person! 😋
But in short, yes, totally worth it!
@@ftloc coming from Ware, you are probably right. But this one is more expensive and I thought to myself to wait a more enfatic recomendation. (Now I kinda have, but Will be waiting for the vídeo too hahaha).
Did you get the recently published oversized George Herriman’s “Krazy Kat”. The Complete Color Sundays 1935-1944 hardcover from Taschen? It's absolutely gorgeous. Do you have any plan on making any video about the best way to collect krazy kat?
I saw that edition while on holiday recently and you're absolutely right on how lovely it is! If I wasn't already out of money and luggage space I would have picked it up in a heartbeat. I hope I can find it here in India.
And I'd love to do a Krazy Kat video, intimidating as it is. Maybe I'll wait to get a few more volumes and a fuller idea of availability first?
@@ftloc I look forward to this as well.
Is this the last shelf or are there more? Also, did you get Alph Art and Soviets which were missing from your Tintin collection in the videos you made?
Unfortunately I don't yet have Alph Art, although I have managed to get the Soviets as well as the colour edition of Congo 😀!
For the Love of Comics cool, alph art is great in knowing the workflow of Herge and his thought process. The plot itself is too good, shame that it never got completed.
You may want to consider The New Yorker - Cartoon Collection and Mario Miranda Hardbound Collection

Hi, What's your thoughts on collecting the All-Star Superman in Absolute edition..? Does the artwork demand the absolute oversized treatment..?
Definitely. It's a spectacular book and well served by the Absolute treatment, not being that fat and unwieldy.
So here's the thing, after you mentioned Elf quest I thought I could look into it as it sounds similar to Dragon quest which is my favourite video game series and it looks like it has a medieval fantasy setting.
The one you have is by Dark horse which was published after 2013 but the editions before that are out of print(I guess) and maybe because of that they're available on Elf quest's website for free. I have never heard of Elf quest but I'm bound to check it out now. Even the ones which are published by Dark horse aren't that expensive in India.
Just a quick edit
elfquest.com/read/digitalEQ.html
This is the official site of Elfquest where you can read the previous versions. They have also uploaded every issue detailing the backstories of the characters.
I'm shocked as well as ecstatic at the same time.
Oh yes, I read the first few issues online on their site to see if it was my cup of tea (it was), but also Dark Horse has reprinted the original series as well as published the 'New Quest' series (plus this Gallery Edition here, which is art from the original series).
I have both the original series reprints and the new series. The original series takes up 4 volumes of varying thicknesses, and you can see them on my Shelf 12 video right at the end czcams.com/video/w-U-DIpqsgg/video.html
The New Quest volumes are also on the same shelf.
P.S. I played one of the first Dragon Quest games when I was young and thought it was terrific!
@@ftloc Cool. So how does the timeline goes? Will I be reading the same thing by Dark horse which is available online or should I go straight up for New quest? I'm not particularly interested in that gallery edition because I don't have space in my apartment but I'm willing to spend money on paperbacks.
Btw, I'm quite younger than you so I never had the chance to play DQ games on the original console. Recently, Square enix released all those games on Google play store so I played it on my phone.
@@gohan12991 Haha on some days I feel EVERYONE is younger than me!
The four volumes of the original quest are all online, so if you don't *have* to have physical copies , just read them all on the site and then buy the New Quest paperbacks to follow.
And the Gallery Editions aren't for story anyway, they are collections of original art pages, sometimes not lettered etc, so I'd never recommend them instead of the actual comics, but as collector's items for superfans.
@@ftloc Thanks. I'll just buy the New quest😊
Sorry Sir, am again missing those detailed showcasing of art and brief story telling, which will make me think whether to buy the books or not. I know the videos will henceforth be long, but loyal subscribers will see till the end; people like me. Max to max it will be 30 mins long. Please do in these forms!
Ah there are different kinds of videos I make and this one happens to be one of my Shelf Videos - part of the collection tour. In these videos I am just taking you through the books around me, and these are not the more in-depth looks that I also do in specialized videos.
I have fifteen or so videos in this series, and it all all other different kids of series are collected as different playlists on this channel.
One way to look at these videos is viewers sometimes tell me which of the books from my shelf they would like to see/ know more about and I add that to the pile of different videos I want to make.
As for longer videos, I would love to attempt them, but I need enough substance to make it deserving, and I am working on my amateur skills in video-making to get better and attempt bolder and bigger things! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 😊
