On the pull out trash can, put a second slider on the bottom with a solid shelf. Pulls the bottom in, protects the door, and helps if the trash can gets heavy. Make sure you put an epoxy/shellac finish on it to protect it from wets. Also (just a suggestion) get a 2nd matching trash can and just put it in storage - eventually that one will wear out and you might have a hard time finding an exact match to fit in the opening! You can fill that gap with some sawdust and wood glue, then sand it flush. Once you finish it you won't really be able to see it.
Love the "iron ore" trim color! Your apartment is sweet! Please don't let somebody trash that beautiful place! Big security deposit so it is worth their while to keep it nice! Somebody who appreciates the quality and beauty will come up with extra cash deposit. (been a landlord)
Now that is a cool apartment! Probably the most well built one also. A little tip, from own experience, a little "lip" in the back of the sliding shelves keeps your pans and other stuff from falling down from the back. It drove me nuts, but that little lip made things stay on the shelf when pulling it in or out. :) Thank you for sharing, always a joy to watch!
Beautiful. Love floating shelves, we even left 2 upper cabinets in log home with no doors to have easy access to glasses & everyday dishes. Uncle who built we were nuts.
I'm ready to move in! Terrific job and video! I like how you left some of the original brick walls unpainted, and I just noticed that you did it on the outside of the building as well. And I am in awe of your woodworking skills.👍
It's a beautiful apartment, Mike, great job! I love the exposed brick, the floating shelves, and the blue tile. I hope whoever lives there will appreciate the tremendous craftsmanship that went into it. Thanks for the great video!
Love the tile on the counter and wall!! ❤ I have pullout shelves in all my cupboards and praise them every time I want something at the back! 👌 NOW...fill that gap in the knee wall cap! 😊
G'day, another great effort. You are a true craftsman. One thing I would suggest is to put a lip on the back of those slide out shelves, just to stop something potentially rolling off the back when you pull the shelf forward.
Such a good job! My grandfather was a cabinet maker from Ireland, and bc I used to follow him around when I was a kid almost seventy years ago, i have a trained eye for excellent hand work. Love the color of the appliances! I really dislike everything being stainless. Black is good.
Sara looked gorgeous in that dress. I hope you get a good tenant for all that hard work you have put into that. Thanks for the video. Templates are an absolute must when you don't want to ruin your supplies. One wrong cut might be a disaster.
❤you are such a wonderful carpenter I love your work and have been watching you so many many years. Sending regards to you and Sarah from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
That's a nice looking square. I noticed you repositioned it to make a mark on the side of the shelf. Something that can save a little time and increase accuracy, is leave the square on the edge and mark the side by drawing along the end of the red part. Like a little saddle square. You've come a long way on the building, looks great.
Enjoyed the video (as always). Love the tile. Was a little surprised to see you paint the upper trim, but really makes the natural wood pop that much more. Beautiful trim color! Very impressed by your windowsill cuts...so snug. Thanks for the video, Mike. I'm looking forward to what's next.
Mike and Sarah you've done such excellent job on the apartment and the whole building looks absolutely amazing from what it was too what it is always look forward to your videos from the cabin to the building thank you for all your hard work you put into the video God bless
Absolutely gorgeous! Your 'renter's agreement' will be quite stiff as to property damage. You've done such marvelous workmanship so any damage would be heart wrenching to you or me.
Thank you! We plan to use this as a short term rental and a guest house, or perhaps intern housing if I expand to outside projects. It won't have a traditional long term Tennant.
As always, your color choices, fit and finish are top notch. As great as the wood shelves look, I would prefer cabinets. You don't have to be so neat and tidy with cabinets versus open shelving. The shelves have a better look though, so I get it.
Wow Mike you sure know how to do a wonderful job everything you build looks just amazing I just love the way you fix Sarah plants please tell her hello hope you both are enjoying your weekend stay safe outthere your friend always Rosa olbera
Get some one to paint the plaster remnants on the brick like an old map of seas & Islands. Could use the blues from the tiles as a palette to work from. Perhaps old Lake Erie maps as templates. Don't need to be real places, just suggestions. Will be like living in a seniors design school project when its done. Some many cool things coming together. Need a ceiling mount Murphy bed to free up daytime floor space. Could have a painting on that.
I have a slab from that same ambrosia maple tree (from OLG)! Some friends of mine picked up another piece of it and I turned it into a standing desk for them.
WOW!!! That place is coming along nicely. I’m envious of your woodworking skills and the amount of tools you have at your disposal. I’m thinking you need an apprentice helper. (Wink, wink, nod, nod) can’t wait for the next episode. Hi to Sarah and Beatrice.
Another great video! Sure have enjoyed and following your journey over the years. Your hard work is really paying off the apartment is looking fantastic! Sure is nice of Beatrice and Sarah to lend a hand or paw. Nice payback with the flower boxes and the medicine cabinet for the cabin. Thanks again for making the video and sharing your skills😊

About a week or so ago I opened YT and there was a thumbnail for one of your cabin episodes. I watched it and was hooked. I went to the page with the 170 videos and last night I finished the last one! I watched every one, start to finish. Enjoyed it so much. I am particularly fascinated by the cabin, but will continue to watch the others also. The technical stuff goes right over my head, but it's fun to watch how happy it makes you! I hope you will not let all the frustrations you have run into ruin what that cabin meant to you when you started all this (re-watch your first video). I hope it will always be your refuge from the daily storms life throws at you! Thank you for all the hard work you put into building it as well as the time consuming efforts to record all of it for us.
Hello, for some reason CZcams sent this comment to spam, anyway I'm really glad you found my channel and like my videos. Thank you for watching. Don't worry I won't become frustrated. Pretty soon I will be back at the cabin making more videos.
You accomplished a lot of little things, totaling to a major difference. I wasn't so sure about the tile until the trim color pulled everything together, looks great. As always you do a great job.

Thank you for the great tips!
This place is turning out great, you are doing an awesome job. Love that retro style fridge.
Glad you like it!
Knowing what that place looked like when you bought it all I can say is wow!! What an incredible difference. It’s beautiful. Well done sir. ❤
Thank you Rob!

We'll be super careful, I have been land lording for about 12 years now, don't have it down perfect but I know most of the do's and don'ts!
Now that is a cool apartment! Probably the most well built one also. Oh that's a very good idea! Thank you!
Mike, this apartment is going to be so cool when finished. You always do an excellent job!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful. Love floating shelves, we even left 2 upper cabinets in log home with no doors to have easy access to glasses & everyday dishes. Uncle who built we were nuts.
I like the floating shelves personally, as long as you don't have too much stuff they work great.
I'm ready to move in!
Terrific job and video!
I like how you left some of the original brick walls unpainted, and I just noticed that you did it on the outside of the building as well. And I am in awe of your woodworking skills.👍
Thank you! We like that too.
Beautiful. For non-handy people like me, it is so satisfying watching a master at work. Well done!
Thanks so much!
What a cool little apartment. Love the hidden trash compartment. It's going to make a beautiful home for some lucky person(s).
Thank you!
What awesome craftsmanship! Would love to see you teaching the craft to the local youth.
Thanks Jeff, I would really enjoy that.
Every step is one step closer, but sometimes, the journey is more satisfying than the destination.
Thank you I agree.
Deep bow to the men's brain, solutions, ideas and crafts 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
It's a beautiful apartment, Mike, great job! I love the exposed brick, the floating shelves, and the blue tile. I hope whoever lives there will appreciate the tremendous craftsmanship that went into it. Thanks for the great video!
Wow thank you so much, super nice of you! Really glad you like our choices.
Mike, your finish work is second to none. I enjoy watching all your projects!!!!!!

Glad you like them!
This will be funky and a trendy place to live. I hope your tenants appreciate!
I hope so too!
Yet another wonderful show of your creativity and skills. Love the progress of the apartment.
Thank you Judy!
Love the tile on the counter and wall!! ❤
I have pullout shelves in all my cupboards and praise them every time I want something at the back! 👌
NOW...fill that gap in the knee wall cap! 😊
Thank you will do!
Looks great! I can’t even imagine the number of hours you have in the cabinets alone! Sweet!
Me neither, I don't want to know.
Looks great Mike. Huge transformation for this building. An old building saved and I’d say at its best to date.
Thank you so much
I would have to say job well done it's a masterpiece you won't have no problem getting the price you want to rent😮😮 absolutely gorgeous😊
Thank you so much!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again! Perfection..love it all!! 😊
Thank you Elizabeth!
G'day, another great effort. You are a true craftsman. One thing I would suggest is to put a lip on the back of those slide out shelves, just to stop something potentially rolling off the back when you pull the shelf forward.
Good tip! I didn't even think of that.
An awesome great job and thank you for sharing. I’m totally amazed at your precise talent with all your fittings. A job well done!!!
Thank you so much.
Not sure if you realize just how much "the man" you are!! Looks great Mike!
Hey Rob thanks bud!
Love the woodwork, wood floors. In my opinion the brick and tile compete as accepts.
Such a good job! My grandfather was a cabinet maker from Ireland, and bc I used to follow him around when I was a kid almost seventy years ago, i have a trained eye for excellent hand work. Love the color of the appliances! I really dislike everything being stainless. Black is good.
Hello Susan, thank you that really means a lot to me. I be you have some great memories of watching him work!
What I can’t understand is why you only have 82k subscribers. Your work is amazing and your details are top notch. Great job!
Thank you, not sure, my subscriber count is actually decreasing slowly for the last 3 months.
@@50AcresI would say it’s the length of time between videos. People forget and move on unfortunately.
Man, what an artist with wood you are. The cabinets are boss.
Thanks so much.

Thank you yes she is the better half for sure! Templates are my go to for sure.
great job! The tiles and paint and shelves are all very classy looking. I like the hidden trash container, too. I'd live there.
Thank you Jay

I like the way you solved the wastebasket problem. I do believe that I'm going to do that for my kitchen. Hello Sarah! Hello Bea!

Ha ha thanks Jake, I really like that thing, so handy, I'll have to remember that tip.
Maybe that leftover space behind the pull out trash can could be used for trash can liners, just a thought, all of your work looks great!!
Good idea
Love the tile work. Every is coming together nicely. 🙂👍🇨🇦
Thank you so much 😀
You are doing a awesome job special on the details 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much 😀
You always amaze me with your talents! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks David, yea I am not a big fan of stripping paint so since it was already painted I just went over it.

Make sure to install a keyless entrance and a Nest type doorbell inn to keep track of/manage airbnb customers.
I've got one on there, but I lock both locks for the time being.
I wish I had half your skills. That place is turning out beautiful...

That would look really cool, there's no shortage of artists close by. We might do a Murphy bed.
Looks awesome!!! Suggestion ... I would put a strip wood at the back of the shelf that prevents things from falling off the back.
Thats a good idea.
Looking really good!
