- In this video we finish all the work that I need to do on the micro apartment above my wood shop. The only work left is the final electrical and plumbing. I set the cement tile on the bathroom floor and then I set white tile in a vertical pattern in the shower. We use Moen Genta brass colored fixtures. I also build and install a pocket door. We also start to equip the apartment with some chairs and other items.

The knee walls are definitely a PLUS!!! And yes, a perfect place for plants.
Shooting blanks, lol. The bathroom door is the big statement piece - I really like pocket doors, they make so much sense. Looks better without the tile backsplash in the kitchen. Creative way to use the accent tile in the bath so you didn't have to cut the larger tile. There's a need for smaller homes for our aging population - this same type of layout with a garage would be lifesaver for many senior citizens.

You make it so hard to pick a favorite thing in that apartment, it’s all so customized. I do love that pony wall, those small black and white tiles, the top of the doors, the lights, the chairs,the barstools etc etc, it’s all my favorite, the whole damn place! The bus sounds great and what a truly worthy charity.

Mike, you amaze me with the precision and thoroughness of your work. The thought processes that go into making everything work together would keep me up at nights (they do anyway on even the most mundane projects of building our own home). I'd love to have you here for a month just to see what you'd come up with in our little house designs. So far we're pretty happy with how things are turning out, as long as we don't rush the process. The wife has become a first class wood worker. She can joint, plane, rout and finish just about anything we need. (We just built our first set of bifold doors that turned out wonderful). Keep posting these amazing videos!

I love it! And I know you don't really like the look of the blue tile, but honestly I think it looks good. And I like the way it ties in with the bathroom without matching exactly. It both ties the two spaces together, AND differentiates them. That's not an easy thing to do; it takes a delicate balance to achieve even when planned that way. The fact that it wasn't intentional is kinda cool.

Wow, the micro apartment turned out awesome. Because I do some of the same types of projects, renovating the two-story farmhouse, I can relate with your decision making. I have several areas that required knee walls as well but they always turn out to be great features.
Your work could be featured in a high-end coffee table book, quality artistic practical.

It is well worth watching a real craftsman perform his trade. The apartment is like a work of art. I have friends who built a house and it also had lovely wood work and felt cozy like your apartment, the thing about their house, you could have had a comfortable chair as the only furniture in each room and felt like that was all the furniture you needed. Your apartment will have that same feeling.
There's just something about an owner built home that can't be duplicated. When people build their own house it always has so many unique features and details that would never happen otherwise.
Some one or ones will get to enjoy a beautiful and unique apartment. I hope they appreciate all your hard work and don't mistreat it. Rich

Got my knee replaced a couple of weeks ago, so I am 2 weeks closer to being able to work on my house and finish it. Lots of tiling to do, so your suggestions were welcomed. I am so revved to get going on everything, but the docs say to just hang tight for a few more weeks, lol. I'm already way ahead of schedule on PT, so maybe I can get going soon!

from gutting them to the finished product. He made all the cabinetry and did all the electrical &
plumbing & solar. He has one short bus completed that is for sale. He and his partner just got
property so his channel content is going to shift but he has some really great videos that they
might find helpful as they do their build. This guys does NOT cut corners....he even installed a

I got an item called "chair socks" that keep the legs of my chairs from damaging my floors. Felted bottoms so it is easy to slide a chair around the room when cleaning and such.
That sounds like something I need!

Your attention to detail is so ....detailed. I've learned much from watching even though I haven't a clue some times. With the removal of the tile and your mudding has given me hope when I tear out the old medicine cabinet. I decorate cakes, if I can smooth frosting I can do that.
Of course I'll watch your video. I hope you have a great tenant and a great contract to match.

I think everything is top notch and really beautiful. I would put a clear glass panel on the wall behind the cook top. It needs something to protect the wall in my opinion, but I could be wrong.
I plan to do something there, just not sure what yet.
