If you think Glass Castle is amazing you should read “when we believed in Mermaids” by Barbara O’Neil. -if you haven’t already.
Omg!! 😍 awesome work! ❤
Love your content and this makeover! The link you provided for the statement light fixture is an American company Lulu and Georgia. They don't ship to Canada. Any way around this for regular folks who dont have connections, or did you buy from a store? Thank you!🙏
Lol Ok if i everget a studio apartment hook me up lol you guys did so amazing over here shocked
They need to have yall do everybody apartment like that in the building
This video shows how much you've grown. It takes guts to go back over your own work and critique it in order to make it better. Your designs have become a lot more functional and Graham has truly been a gamechanger. ❤
Graham is a boss, no lie. Alexander? You are uber talented and have only gotten better with time. Congratulations on the book and good luck in the future. I enjoy your work and content immensely.
I love this reworking of the studio
100% agree with this. Seeing your growth as a designer is awesome! 😊
I love it! I want it. That apartment is worth so much more now
@@ladonnawashington1643 I can see Graham cringing every time she grabs hold of the drill.
Graham just has a never-ending supply of really cute friends that also do contracting and woodworking.
Can he just introduce them ALL to us lol...also maybe I should move to Toronto to find myself a cute handy guy lmao
I love how this proves that small spaces shouldn’t necessarily have small furniture! There may be a bit less floor space but the storage and functionality is so much better. I love this!
As a person who also lives in a tiny space, my wish would have been to build the cabinets up to the ceiling for extra covered up storage! I love the cabinet color!
Absolutely! Why, why, why do so many designers waste this space! It is just so thoughtless. All that space does is collect that sticky, greasy dust! Yes, tall cabinets cost more. So don't buy so many tchotchkes and spend that money on tall upper cabinets! And I think saving money is why they go with "open shelving." What a nightmare. That trend isn't going to last. Who keeps their kitchen shelving neat and tidy and who wants to be wiping them down all the time?
Especially as there was so much clutter on top of the cupboards which already suggested the cabinets weren't providing enough storage...Although I think a good declutter is needed!
Absolutely!
The first makeover was cute, but this redo is SOO elevated, like wow. I love it.
It would have been great if you done a before, deco1, deco2 thing at the end in the video. The first makeover was such an improvement and you basically couldn’t improve the layout much, but the revision is so much more polished. Congrats 🎉
@andreacarpenter. Agreed. This do-over is grown up(not like dorm room) and makes the limited space more user friendly. The space appears larger.
The use of space is seriously impressive. I would not be mad if you kept using the bed nook idea for every suite this small. It is a game changer in the way this apartment feels.
Bed nooks are seriously underrated. Who wouldn't want to sleep in a cozy little cave like that? It feels so much safer and 'feng shui' compared to having a view of the front door from your bed. Also, I'd love to see Katie create a little window seat-reading nook thing in her big window by the kitchen, I think it would just be the cherry on the top!
@@user-ed7et3pb4o fabulous idea!!!
Totally agree!
@@user-ed7et3pb4owhat a great idea! Like a comfy bench!
@@rocioiribe5841 exactly!
This is one of the absolute best transformations! I have to be honest, I was skeptical on how much more improvement you were going to be capable of from the original, but you blew all expectations out of the water. I'd never want to move if this was my space!
The cupboards should go clear to the ceiling-more storage and look better.
You could add baskets on top of the kitchen cabinets-more storage and still a cohesive look.
Wow… you guys actually make having a small space feel like a gift instead of a burden! 🤩
Love what she said about small space living. As a family of four who are downsizing from a single family home to an apartment, it can feel like we're "doing it all wrong." There's this myth that owning a home is the be all and all, but Katie's right... It's not. Our family is so excited to be renters again, and to live a more minimal, intentional life together. Love this show! Given me so much hope that I will be able to create a home vibe wherever we land. Thank you for what you do!
This comment is why I do what I do!!! Thank you for sharing your story!
Totally agree! After living at a 250m² house for my entire life, me and my mom are downsizing to a 70m² apartment, and it's been a challenge. Most of our furniture doesnt even fit there 😂 mom is freaking out, but I'm dedicated to make this new place a cozy fresh start fot the both of us after my parents divorce. Her message about living in a small(er) space struck really deep.
My best memories of friends and boyfriends 🤭 are from my first tiny apartment.
I've lived in a house, a condo, rented an apartment and am once again a homeowner, let me say this : owning a home isnt the ultimate goal. There is ALWAYS SOMETHING that needs fixing, replacing, maintaining. Whew! Apartment living is NOT a waste of money and can be a wise choice. 🙂💛
@@patchouleigh_ I’m really struggling with this right now. I want to own, I just don’t have the income or credit to do so. I feel like I’m pouring money into something that isn’t mine, so there isn’t any pay off for me in the long run.
How do you not have 3 million followers? Not only do you have an hilarious crew, a lovely modesty and down-to-earthness, but your design sensibility is out of this world. You can go in SO many different directions; you keep things simple and relatively cheap, though the end result is always polished and stylish. I've been watching your channel for years; I marvel at how your work keeps getting better and better. Bravo.
The bed nook is everything! Katie's space is absolutely stunning. Well done.
I NEVER get sick of this episode because of the size and the fact that I'm in a 148sq foot effecency rental. This one inspires me ❤
THIS is your best work. It’s so functional and you did such a great job dividing up the space in this little apartment! This is such a testament to how much your design skills have improved over the years. Also, I can’t forget to mention how awesome your team is for making this happen! It’s such a little space but you made it feel so large and vibrant. I am inspired!
This is proof of how much team ag has grown during the last few years. I’ve been watching this like a proud mother would. The result is absolutely stunning. Yay!
Yes ! I remember her earrrrrrly vids !
I've discovered you yesterday. I already love this series because you add bloody storage, aaaalways overlooked by aesthetic architects, so big up!
Alexandra is the brains on designing creative spaces. Graham is the man that makes it happen with his hand made pieces and hard work. I don't think this show would be the same without him. He's so talented! Beautiful make over.
Alexandra, this may be your best makeover to date. It's so cohesive and thoughtful, everything shaped like a U for your friend. You really tightened it up brilliantly on this episode, the culmination of a lot of trial and error via previous projects. The nook is adorable. How subtle with the pastels yet so fun.
I would LOVE to live here! The transformation of the kitchen from chaotic to classic is next level! 🎉
@@sandrah4358 ❤️❤️❤️
The table top that Graham made is just a piece of art. This is definitely going to your Hall of fame makeovers.
Yes, and it looks so good with the rug.
Love the cabinet color! Place looks great!
Graham is so TALENTED 🎉
This transformation amazes me. The space looks so much bigger and more grown-up, and the closed storage makes a huge difference. 👍🧡
I always prefer it when studio apartments have some kind of separation for the bed, so the curtain and bookshelf are really working for me! The blue cabinets in the kitchen are really pretty, too.
I am spoiled forever by Team AG's makeovers. I watched some other makeovers on YT and they were basically just replacing furniture with new pieces and adding decor. With your makeovers there's so many creative ideas, adding storage, making the most use of the space, thinking about functionality, creating custom pieces... It's just so much more inspiring than just putting in new stuff that looks good. Thanks so much for bringing this content to youtube!
She's the best!
Your voice at “All my strength is going into this”, is so much ASMR it actually made me blush 💗
I Love the butcher block countertop, and how it mimickedthe pattern in the rug by the bed. ALL the creations are so up 100 notches, love all the extra storage in the bed, closet, and room divider.
I think this is the most EXTENSIVE studio fix I've seen. Lots of great ideas all in one space, love it!
wow, this makeover is SO GOOD! I love everything, especially the bedroom nook and those statement chairs! The kitchen looks so good, and the space is so light and airy with the curtains and natural light coming through. Amazing job Team AG!!!! 🧡💛
The first redo of this apartment was one of my absolute favorites of all you have done, as it was SO cute and cool. But THIS is where you can truly LIVE in it and the kitchen looks like you could KEEP it clean now and have company
This video made me go back to your past makeovers including this same space and I've noticed how much you've improved since then. Graham's skills absolutely also took your makeovers into the next level, he's so good at customising furnitures to fit a specific space. ☺️
This is the most epic and impressive makeover that you have ever done. You and your team should be very proud of what you have done here. It is a brand new apartment. Excellent job!!
Always a fan of your work, but this space and the design choices are 100% my aesthetic. I'm just in awe of the transformation.
I could live in this one!
Can’t say enough about this second time makeover! The attention to details shows your continued growth as a designer. Love all the fresh paint, the colour choices, the kitchen cabinets, the knobs, the bed nook is insane…wow. That headboard knocks it out of the park.
I’m glad I don’t have to live in such a small space as this apartment, but if I did, I’d love to live in this makeover! So practical and efficient, not to mention beautiful. Good job!
This makeover shows have far you’ve come in your styling and creativity. Graham is amazing at producing what you come up with. The original makeover was fun and cute. This makeover is in a whole new, incredibly sophisticated level - worthy of a high-end design publication. Maybe your next book? Congratulations!
Alexandra, this is next level. And while I feel like I say that to myself after I watch each makeover video, this particular one really stands out. Not only did you tick every box in apartment living (storage, privacy, separation of work life/personal space, loads of character, and style). You made 'function' beautiful. You filled every inch of that space with so much more storage that you managed to add livable space to that apartment. I might even rewatch this one, because it's that good. Jaw-dropping design, jam-packed with style & design, and I can feel your love for your friend all throughout the space. I too want a bed nook ("nook it!"). Also, a shout-out to your whole crew. I know yours is a collaborative team. I love how you work together, and everyone is super skilled in their areas of expertise. Mad respect to you all.
This is fantastic. The studio really does seem to have separate rooms. It looks so big. Brilliant work Team AG.
Stunning! Just truly a one-of-a-kind expression of the vision. The color choices, the use of shape, form, material, and texture, the architectural elements - all came together in service to a sense of beauty and function and spaciousness that just blows me away. Bravo, Alexandra! You have so inspired me.
I got chills watching the reveal. This might have to be my new favorite and I keep saying that to myself on prior makeovers. You and your team are stellar!! So much attention to detail. So much personality. The result is truly a reflection of all the years you’ve invested in growing. Congrats on the book!! It still baffles me that this channel doesn’t have 1M subs, but I know your success goes beyond what a number can measure. Love Team AG!!
We are just so so thrilled to have been part of this!!! The space turned out absolutely stunning, thank you for including us in yet another gorgeous makeover 💙
I missed this one and just saw it today and I was blown away....woooow what a change and it's true how you have grown . Congratulations to you and your team !! You'll definitely did a fantastic job. That bed nuke is to die for. ❤❤❤
Great upgrade to the bed area. Would be perfect if you could have added one upholstered chair for reading (or a guest). Love the kitchen upgrade. Very creative reuse of wood for the butcher block top. 🥰
I agree. A well padded seat by the window instead of the big plant would have been better. A trailing plant on the end of the bookshelf would have given the same vibes.
Oh, my... Alexandra!!?! This is beyond words. You have so outdone yourself with this one. Congrats to the entire team AG!! Katie's reaction was so understandable and so cute. Love this space and how much more grown-up, spacious and inviting it is (and it was lovely to begin with!).
Holy cow! Alexandra, Graham and Graham’s assistant, 10,000 times bravo! This is so elevated from the first makeover. It is absolute, chew on it, like it’s chocolate, perfection!🎉❤❤🎉👏👏👏
Whenever I have a “tunnel” space or awkward corner on a shelf, I always put a beautiful turntable to make the items more easily accessible. Beautiful makeover!
Katie is so right! There is nothing wrong with living in a rental and make it your own 🤍 my parents have always lived in a rental because they simply couldn’t afford to buy a home, what are they suppose to do? Be miserable and live in a boring space? No they made it their own and are really happy in there.
Totally agree. My husband and I have been renting for years and we have received flack over it from friends. But we don’t care -- we’re really happy with our choice. It gives us the flexibility to live anywhere we want. We don’t spend all of our time maintaining our home. We don’t have to worry about paying for repairs. We have been able to put away a ton of money in savings. AND we can make our space just as beautiful as we could have if we owned. These are all wins, as far as I’m concerned.
Just adding in that I have lived in my rental for over 10 years and I have not put any money into savings lol It's great if you are able to do that financially but it's never been the case for me. No shade just presenting an alternative because I feel I see this "I've saved so much" comment around small space renting and it's made me feel bad, until recently - again no tea no shade to anyone who has a big savings account! Simply sharing my experience ❤
@@raieven I live in a rental too and I don’t have a big saving account either, I do have some savings but nothing massive ;)
@@ratulamorie5255 Yes! The house my parents (now just my mom) rent is in the perfect location and very spacious, they could simply not afford to buy a place like that in the same location so renting was the way to go :) personally I’d like to own a home in the future but if it never happens it’s ok too. I don’t need to own a home to make it my home and be happy in it
@@raieven I’m sorry -- I wasn’t trying to make a normative statement about saving money while renting. I know this isn’t possible for everyone and depends on a lot of different factors.
This is by far one of the BEST makeovers I've seen. Absolutely stunning!!!!
This just shows how much you’ve grown as a designer. Well done!
The changes Katie made are functional and beautiful. I've never seen an interior designer go back and update a residence. This was a smart decision. My only thing is this factor: It is hard to change bedding on an enclosed bed. But considering how small this apartment is, she really did an amazing job.
If instead of that shelving a white curtain was hung on a ball bearing track it would have given the feeling of closing off the sleeping area yet allow making the bed so much easier. Less space for books, but the books are too close & visually busy to look at from the bed. Also, a fold down "island" would have taken up less space. Otherwise, the apartment is lovely! The colors are so soothing.
Katie is the apartment "owner", Alexandra is the designer.
Absolutely beautiful! One idea... add wheels to the prep station. The wheels make it moveable and brings the height of the table to match the height of the existing counter and oven.
Beautiful and almost unbelievable what you did with the small space. Adorable and fits real life !
When she said the first makeover was only three years ago I was shocked. AG and team has grown so much. From designs that make my mouth water to the a new book 😅. Go girl! Just saving my coins so I can get a virtual makeover.
Wow. This is so beautiful. There’s nothing you could’ve done better. 🎉
Alexandra really levelled up the apartment with this amazing makeover!
The name of this is "professional growth" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ love it!
This is absolutely top knotch. It looks like you gutted and remodeled the entire apartment! And it does look larger. The bed nook is to die for, and the kitchen looks so clean and uncluttered now.
Her reaction was so accurate! “I feel like we robbed someone”? Hilarious way to say how shockingly wonderful this was. I can hardly believe it either!!
Wow. I mean I start to cry 😢 at reveal. Amazing. You have such a great eye.
Enjoy watching, you have such a creative and insightful eye, and I must say Graham is the man!!!he is such a great asset to your team. He amazes me for all your makeovers.
This is such a beautiful home! You've really made a studio feel like a whole grown up apartment that's still fun and quirky. So good.
This was one of my favorite videos because it was such a mess before! By putting doors on things and adding extra storage, and then defining the spaces more clearly in such a beautiful way has for me made this place livable. It is absolutely adorable! Too bad college dorms can’t be this nice.
This is a gorgeous redo I'm living in a small space and I love the airiness and the elegant feel superb job
This is my favorite makeover of your to date! It's unbelievable that you packed all of that function into 150 sq. ft! Beautiful job. The bed nook is WOW!
AND AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN SHE KILLED IT EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU’RE SUCH A DOWN TO EARTH PERSON LOVE YOUR WHOLE CREW THEY’RE HILARIOUS YOU DESERVE MORE SUBSCRIBERS LY 😭
That place is really very small. You guys really changed it in surprising ways and made it calming, stylish and beautiful.
Honestly these transformations are just mind blowing, so inspired to do the same for my own space!!❤❤
This was seriously Epic 🎉 Graham's talents are non-stop impressive 💛 🌏 💛
When I first saw this makeover it helped encourage me to move from a larger space to a smaller space and I still have my bookshelves like that in my bedroom. It really helped me!
This was fantastic!! One of your absolute best, and I have been beyond impressed before. The crown molding to finish the shelf elevated the nook incredibly, and adding an entry way closet, as well as the counter top by the stove increased functionality immensely. Truly amazing!!
I think this is the most beautiful makeover she's ever done. Absolutely gorgeous!!
Does anyone else feel like you could help someone else redecorate their place but have complete paralysis on your own?! Alexandra and the team are so amazing to be able to re-do such different styles and places! Love u guys 💕
This was epic! Like adult princess vibes and cozy and multifaceted and bright. It seems to have solved a lot of her issues. A whole second closet! And under bed storage! I know she's thrilled bc maybe she can get a TV too
where would you put the TV? Just curious! Would you mount it on the back of the Kallax? (like inside the bed nook)
I could be wrong, but I didn't hear her say anything about wanting a TV? Possibly a projector and screen, that way, the screen could roll up - or down - and out of way. The projector can be placed on the side top shelf. As far as the projector being tied into internet, etc, I don't know all of that is done; I have seen this with tiny homes and converted vans/busses.
@@donnabacon4681 yes, this seems like the best option, if she wants it
@@user-ed7et3pb4o that's where i would put it. but i might do a projector personally.
It is perfect! So organized- less cluttered. Good job 👍!
You are so incredibly talented! From a fellow interior designer who had a 4500sf store, a 2500sf house and, now live in Miami in a 804sf condo, you work WONDERS in small spaces!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Absolutely IN LOVE with the finished look of the studio!
Watched this with my husband over our Sunday lunch and he would not stop saying "it's amazing; wow, it's so great." Throughout the entire reveal.
What a fantastic makeover/improvement. Just gorgeous. The color of the cupboards, so beautiful. The bed and bookcase, genius. It looks so clean and streamlined now. Well done. And Graham's butcher block, the man is an artist.
Besides the amazing work, THE EDITING WAS HILARIOUS! I was laughing through the whole thing. Thanks for the slowmo of that smooth counter jump
I like that the Roman shade comes off. Those things can collect a lot of dust and especially by your head can interfere with clear breathing
you truly outdid yourself in this one alexandra oh my god this is a BEAUTIFUL makeover 😍❤️
This was so nostalgic for me because Katie's first makeover was the first AG video I had seen! This was SO inspiring to me and gave me so many ideas. Great job you guys!
WOW! This transformation is INCREDIBLE!
that HEADBOARD 😮 stunning
I absolutely love how you incorporated the same U shape in the knobs, bowl, headboard, ginkgo/sand dollar sconce shelf, the stools and her red initial decor. It is a subtle detail that really works to make everything cohesive.
I remember the first makeover of this space. Wow how you have evolved in your skills. I love how you admitted to being "kept awake" by what you would do differently. This is just outstanding. Team AG just gets better and better.
Incredible, astounding, amazing makeover. So much talent, design, craftsmanship and energy in one project! I am recommending this to everyone I know making changes to their small living space. Thank you and best of luck with your book!
So many people are living in Tiny Homes... you're right in style
This has to be my favorite makeover you have ever done. Who knew you could get so much in such a small space and have it look fabulous. Congratulations to the whole team on the makeover. Katie is a lucky girl to have such an amazing space!
It’s wild how much you have grown to create all of the things you’ve imagined. This really speaks to your team as well. Stunning! 10/10 🎉
Your down-to-earth personality is so refreshing. I love your design style, and I'm so glad I found your channel. I subscribed after watching the first video. 💕
This was a great one! Only thing that I keep thinking about is why didn't they create a headboard against the shelf instead of the window? That would've kept the window accessible and allow more light into the apartment during the day.
What a phenomenal makeover! Yes, the initial makeover was how I found your channel and that was a great makeover, but this re-do is an impressive showcase of how far you have come in such a short time with your channel, your team, skills, and resources. Your design style has always been excellent, but is maturing even more. Everything about this is 10/10. You added so much more function and storage to the space, and that bed nook is so cozy and romantic. I love everything about this makeover!
I've never clicked on a video so fast. Thank you for this video Team AG. I missed you guys all week. This makeover is everything, I love what you did in the space. ❤🎉
Oh my gosh - I actually saw the first re-do of this apartment when you did it, and look how far you’ve come! It looks amazing. Absolutely amazing.
This tranformation looks amazing! I can't believe how different it looks from the original makeover. It shows how much you've learned over time. Awesome job. I love the attention to detail you put into this and so many of your projects. ♥
I love that you are humble enough to go back and upgrade a space you already did! You’re awesome and this is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Cannot believe those aren’t brand new cabinets completely! Nook it! I love the NOOK😮😮 it’s amazing
I just shared this video with my daughter. We adopted her when she was 2. We had been told she might never walk or talk but she was apparently not listening. She’s 20 and ready to start college in September. She is also preparing to move into her own studio apartment and this makeover is just full of fabulous ideas. She was already a fan. Her cat, Rascal, sent fan mail to Lottie. In fact, I wrote Lottie in as the heroine in a murder mystery! So thank you! We are definitely going to explore the built in bed. It’s perfect.
Many congrats to your daughter and to you! Friends adopted their son when he was 2. He was delayed in every developmental area. An early teacher said he would never be college material. He’s working on his doctorate now. Children are so amazing!
Such a wonderful story ❤😊
This is the sweetest ever. Good luck to your daughter at college! I'm sure she'll smash it. And how lovely that she'll have a studio apartment! So much more cozy and comfortable than sharing a dorm:)
Absolutely beautiful!!! But...i would've put the headboard of the bed on the kallax and not in front of the window! Other than that 👌
I thought the same, rather than blocking the light from the window she could turn her bed around, that way real curtains can be installed which means light wouldn't be blocked from the top half of the window either with the Roman shades she put on. Amazing makeover otherwise!
I love this - the nook for the bed is great!
The Gater Team has done it again!! Beautiful, fabulous, I love those green velvet chairs & that headboard. My other absolute fave is Graham's butcher block. I love the variety of tones and that it is recycled material is everything.
This looks gorgeous! Alexandra uses trendy pieces but clearly has her own aesthetic and it's going to be so fun to watch it develop to the point that she's making the trends.
I can't stop seeing this video.
Every single detail and color is so amazing, it makes me happy 😊. Such a great job team AG. Thank you is both entertaining and practical.
I have just viewed a few of your videos. You and your team are out of this world amazing.
