the common thing I see with Lithuania is that both songs and dances are made for everyone to join and enjoy, no matter if you have two left feet, are young or old, it's about having fun. The arena in Rotterdam will have a blast if both go to the final.
I enjoy the 80's vibe of this song, funky and disco and cool, no vocal acrobatics, no divas screaming, just good music and vocals. Very cute that this song it's about his daughter, if we look back - veeeeeeeeery veeeeeeeery back - in eurovision history, we had already a victory for the UK with a song for a 3 year old: "Save all your kisses for me" by Brotherhood of Men, early 70's.

I see that many are comparing Iceland to Lithuania at the moment, and I kind of see why because both songs do stand out from the many selections this year, but at the same time I cannot help and see how different both songs are on many levels. Musically Iceland bases its song on a disco vibes while Lithuania on new wave / synth sounds. Lyrically, Iceland's song is about father speaking to a daughter, so it's a feel-good fun personal-family song while Lithuania's song addresses a larger social context (ageism and age-related prejudices and a celebration of a self-confidence). The choreography is also different, as Iceland's choreography is more fun-quirky while Lithuania's is art-quirky (as there is such a massive synergy between the lyrics, the message and the dance in their performance). And even if I like Iceland's song and think its a great addition to ESC, I think Lithuania's song is way ahead of it on many levels. But I guess there is an audience for both songs in the competition.

The only thing I’d say though is that you don’t seem to annunciate your words very well. Like, I’m Irish and even I found it difficult to make out what you were trying to say a lot of the time. It’s important to keep in mind that, if you want to appeal to a wider audience, they need to be able to understand you even if English isn’t their first language of if they generally have trouble deciphering Irish accents. Apart from that, the video was great!

I wanted Íva to win buuuuut Dadi Freyr deserves it! They're the whole package! And, I think it has a more commercial pull. Also, as an American Dadi Freyr has more of an appeal to us, it's super relatable. I could see Dadi Freyr going viral internationally like Netta did in 2018. Omgawwwwd Hatari was robbed!!! They were obviously my favourite ❤️ I'm excited for this entry, it's fresh especially in a year saturated with low tempo easy listening ballads. Or as I call it the Lundvik-Duncan Syndrome. 😋

Oh oh also, I forgot to add this to my previous comment... I think one of the things that also didn't help Íva besides the staging was the styling, they gave her Kate Miller-Heidke vibes! Very Australia circa 2019, which took away from the novelty of her song. I think people were just like "Operatic Vocals Check, Outfit from the live action version of Frozen... Check, oh we've seen this before!" Which really did a disservice to Íva.

I was shocked to hear that Iva will not be in Rotterdam. I can't say that I like Dadi (the right sound of the second consonant in his name is like English "th" in the word "the"). He has a warm, pleasant voice, indeed, but the song gives the impression of a biased weirdness. The song is not strong, let alone the vocal demands...... I think that your love for Iceland influences your judgement. It's a flat simple party fun song, that tries to become quirky. If it makes to the final, it will end between 19th and 26th. As for the comparison to Lithuania.......... It is just funny to compare the two songs. The Roop have vision and it's obvious. Their song is unique (not a reference to something else), their performer theatrical and charismatic, and their weirdness is natural and authentic. I am generally disappointed by all four songs selected last night. It's a very bad year, and up to now, I can only see Germany or Romania winning both juries and televoting.

I had that with Monique, but I can accept that Monique just wasn't at the level required yet and The Roop is bringing something special. This is not the same case. Iva's song needs a huge stage for any staging to work to the max and she would have gotten that in Rotterdam. What we get now is just a passable song with a silly dance and some charm. I want to be blown away by awesome music, I don't want to look at some pyjama wearing hipsters being ironic, much less looking at them having success with this at the expense of others.
