I am truly fascinated by opal. I am highly entertained by Aussie opal miners...you are a tough bunch.
I learned recently the opal itself has no coloe, but rather molecular spacing within the matrix reflects the vibration of specific colors.

Gee when I saw "Boulder" opal I thought you were mining opal in Boulder, Western Australia. Now before everyone starts laughing at my apparent stupidity, there was actually opal found on a line of leases within the original "Fly Flat" alluvial area at Boulder, W.A. Obviously the gold was what everyone was after and when the alluvial ground was found to be shallow and quickly worked out the early "diggers" moved to the next patch. As "Fly Flat" is now gazetted as part of the town zone of Boulder it is impossible to dig down to see if there is opal deeper than the top alluvial ground. 🐒( I should delete this, but I'm ok with making a mistake, but I am still scratching my noggin at putting Fly Flat in Boulder. Boulder Opal I must offer up an apology for a very strange mistake I have made by placing "Fly Flat" at Boulder instead of Coolgardie. Your 100% correct in that opal was found at Coolgardie. Bugger, now everyone is having a good laugh at my mix up. 😵😬.
