The biggest mistake anyone can make in online games is thinking the top tier is more fun.
I'm enjoying V to VIII. Learning the classes, training my Skippers. I think the toughest tier to learn is BBs as the classes differentiate more and more after T7.
This us absolutely the way in world of tanks
Facts. I was running and gunning in tier 2-4 as a DD and then hit Tier 5 with the Nicholas and got humbled real quick. 💀
@@loganmaddocks4703make sure you understand how us destroyers play through tier 5 and above. I recommend checking the world of warships wiki for advice
Brittish light cruisers are my fav and it super squishy on low tier, still like it thiught
Fun fact you can redo the campaign missions for the stars rather than having to do each individual one
Wait really?
Yes
@@doppiomilos6114 yep.
When you repeat a campaign mission you no longer get the single reward (flags or credits usually) but you do get the star.
The only reason to do every campaign mission is that once you have finished all of them there are some achievements for getting 100%, but these give nothing other than a virtual "well done".
This is a really good tips because i once was doing such campaign missions on find some to be really difficult to do. It's only a few months mater someone told me i could just repeat the missions and thats how i finished all the campaigns lol
Damn I didn’t know that you can do the same missions to complete the campaign Thx for the advice guys.
My single biggest mistake, and I'm still making it after 4+ years is not looking at the minimap often enough. Tunnel vision on one or two enemies is a good way to get sunk quickly. Also, sometimes retreat and sacrificing a teammate is quite ok. And be aware of your own and your enemies capabilities, i.e. firing range, torpedo ranges, radar/hydro availability etc.
been playing for 5 years same thing tunnel vision i am 74 years old but clan mates have helping.
I like how politely worded you were when describing the stock modules.
"Less, um, powerful" instead of just saying they suck ass lol.
Tip: You don't have to do all the missions of Campaigns, you can repeat the easiest missions to get stars and progess to Expert Commanders. (Yamamoto or Halsey)
didn t knew that^^
Wait what, I have to test that next time.
The biggest noob mistake I used to make was that I had no idea about angling your armour so I thought that the nose was a big weakspot due to the armour being more thin. so I used to always show flat broadside since I thought that's how I would make the most of my armour.
Lolyeah I was the guy who couldn’t believe how easily people let me cross the T and open up full broadside,. Then didn’t quite grasp right away until I looked it up why I was getting absolutely destroyed
@@jesseg8374 It's so hard to not do that on the few times I play as a BB. I'm like, I'm crossing the T, it's Jutland all over again, except, I won't blow it like Jellicoe!
@@jesseg8374 yeah but unless you're in german BB you never show broadside against anything
@@agaXM yeah, I figured out it’s an arcade and not a simulator lol
You should have mentioned that there are some modules you may want to keep. Some American torpedo modules are useful to have both. Also the guns on the big German battleships you may want to have both.
When I get a new ship I watch video reviews/replays and I take the ship out in Co-op mode to develop a feel fro it. By doing so, I avoid having my random wr from being totally destroyed while I learn about the strength and weakness of the ship. I wish i had done that earlier, Good Video as always SLM!
With Italian BBs I never bothered with the range mod increase as they can’t hit a thing at distance, and it just means you attract more incoming.
On #2, I've tried joining a clan so I can learn and get better and group up with people. Clans I was in never grouped up and wouldn't help me get better. I just can't find a good clan that welcomes newer players and actually group up. So I've spent my last 30-45 days of play to just being solo.
i have been playing for 5 years finally a clan invited me out of the blue with a completed naval base and a laid back clan.
Hehe after a break I had 7 years worth of modules. Was like 12mil credits. Love your vids 😊
Honestly, I bought the Kidd before I had the trot opened up. Yeah, I sucked with it for a while, but it really boosted my own abilities. When I went back down to grind my tier I was a much better player. So it wasn’t all bad.
Great Ship
Only mistake a new player can make just starting the game. A very fun game turned into torture and pain.
The second point is kinda big. When I started playing actively, a year or so ago, i played a very close game where we only had to cap and we would've won but i was a noob and didn't know what to do and kept shooting and getting shot at thus resetting the flag. Naturally i was flamed, even after the game. After i told him I had no idea what happened, why he was mad at me and that i was new, first t6 probably, he actually explained and was nice. Communication is key. Many are nice people after all but expect people to be at their level.
Thanks for the video. I have been playing World of Warships since it launched 9 years ago, and never knew about the Inventory screen!
Even using the f-key communication is incredibly useful. I think destroyers are not balanced correctly. As soon as a team loses its destroyers, they're at an extreme disadvantage. It's slightly alleviated by carriers, but if there were 3 destroyers per side and one side loses all three while killing 2 battleships and a cruiser, the team with no destroyers has an 85% or more chance of losing even though the numbers are even. Weekends are the worst because the potato destroyers come out in swarms.
Actual Number 1 Mistake New Players Make: Considered even downloading this game in the first place.
you rather play WT then with the infinite grind ?
@@ArekishiKishi Neither honestly.
yea
@@gustavocabrerea1341 a man with standards
Selling tier V and above ships is a mistake. Yes, you can get some credits fast. But at the end of the year it is the snowflake campaign. When every tier V-VII ship will get you 750 coal. Ships VIII-IX will get 75 steel. And tier X will give you tickets to Santa Claus containers (aka free premium ships). Oh, and if you really really want specific premium ships wait for the Halloween. The black ships are sold at a great discount and they look great.
Hi. I'm not a newb WoW player, but I am new in this channel. I was thinking, maybe something like "10 WoW myths busted" or something like that would be REALY interesting. Just a random suggestion. Anyway, I hope oneday you will have million+ subs. Good job.
Thanks for the tips!
Good stuff!! Thanks 😅
If you watch the games you will notice ships crashing into each other and crashing into islands. We all have a tendency to stay in sniper view and watch our rounds to gauge the accuracy for the next shot. By doing that we lock in on tunnel vision forget about steering and where our allies and other enemies are whose talking to us and even the location of land mass. Try to pop out of sniper view when in the heat of pursuit and check your surroundings. Maneuvers are crucial to survival and knowing what your ships strengths and weaknesses are. Knowing your enemies ship and her capabilities plus what weapons it carries is huge. Go into settings and change the HUD view to full and you get a ton of information displayed on screen all the time instead of having to go to sniper view to get it.
3, soo true, thanks so much!
Sea Lord, although you are correct about these points, it really lets the devs off the hook of the real fix. Why should new players have to play for 1000 years at tiers 1-5 before getting good ships. Yes, early players had to grind forever, that's not an answer. What happens after those players play for 1000 years at T5 and then go up to T10? They'll still suck. How about 2000 years, they'll still suck. They'll never really catch up to players who played the game since beta, has all the OP ships that you cannot get anymore (or only from a super scarce currency).
If we had a skills based matchmaker all problems would be solved, including these issues. The real problem with the game is it is nothing but a troll game. CVs/Subs troll actual PvP players. Veterans with OP ships troll players who are not veteran or who do not have OP ships. Players in a unicum div trolls every team they meet. Problem with a troll game, is there is no place for anyone who is NOT a troll. New players should avoid this game. Casual players should avoid this game. Players who did not join during beta should avoid this game. Basically only the super-unicum players who started during beta and have all the BS ships and are in a BS clan should play the game against others who are exactly the same. Everyone else is just a pinata and not a participant.
I particularly love the DDs which hide or otherwise won't spot or advance. What is the point of playing a DD like that?
Been Playing WoT for over a decade and tried WoW when it first came out I think I got to like tier 5 or 6 but I am thinking about trying it out again. One of my favorite games in high school was Battlestations: Midway on xbox it WoW reminds me of that game.
Chat does not work in EU.
Not only it's mostly used to insult people, but too much people does not chat in english.
And not only in german, french, spanish or italian, but even in those languages written in cyrillic Klingon.
@@Mithril_Antimarr Chat mod? I'm speaking about russian!
Chat in EU sucks.
Either no one communicates, or it's filled with players that refuse to speak English (and of that it's 9/10 times always the Germans)
@@lightbluewaves5526 Lately the cyrillic is increasing.
Biggest mistakes that drive people crazy - new players rush up the line (like you said), then just sit in the back or hide behind an island and hope your team carries you. CVs; for example, like to just sit in the back and do almost nothing helpful (spotting, etc). 1st - if you sit in the back (the enemy DDs and Subs know where to find you and will sneak around to get back there and take you out as soon as they can get there. 2nd - you spend all your time flying and none of it fighting. If you have a CV near the caps (in a safe place) your planes have to fly a lot less distance and are on the fight right away. You get more flights off = more attacks = more damage = more help to your team = better results. Still, you see some guy with 250 games in his T110 CV just sitting still in the back and doing nothing helpful at all, flying str8 forward and attacking which ever ship he sees 1st.
I had a game where a guy in a T10 Cruiser is hiding behind an island next to the cap I am in (with my DD), the enemy DD comes in and stops me from capping... no radar help and he can't shoot anything as the rock he hides behind also prevents him for fighting - about as helpful as someone who is AFK. I got killed in the cap as I had no support and he ended up retreating towards the spawn, only to be killed by the enemy that pushed through our cap - Why not actually... idunno, HELP? Use your radar to help your teammates find the enemy so they might kill them or at least turn them away. Don't just save it for your own use as you will likely die having never used some (if not all) of your radars. Same with smoke, use it to hel p hide a teammate that needs time to regroup, maybe do some healing, not to just hide and wait for a blind torp to take you out.
I've been playing since it was in Beta (about 7 years), it used to be that you had to grind and it took forever to get a T10, now they about hand them out to someone with less then 100 games. Remember them saying that no one will EVER be able to just purchase a T10 ship? What happened to that promise? IT went out the window with the other promise that they "GARUANTEE - THERE WILL NEVER ( N E V E R) BE SUBS IN THIS GAME. Remember that guarantee?
Hey I would have never gotten into this game if it wasn't for the Atago! I think if you're buying a high tier premium ship get ready for a baptism by fire. I learned a LOT from my first few matches lol. It does help to have friends knowledgable about the game playing with you... but still.
The number one spot I can relate that a lot since I started playing wow since 2018.
#1. This! Too many idiots do this and then suck at tier 8,9,10. If your avg damage in a Tier 8 is anything below 50k in a T8 BB, you need to learn how to play that ship better before rushing up. For references, look at the DD, BB, CA, CV, Sub Emblem requirements for DDs, CAs, BBs and CVs. They provide a rough benchmark of what you should be doing at T8,9,10. Yeah I know damage isn't everything and PR is better indicator and yada yada, but avg damage says a lot about how well you play a ship.
- First emblem damage requirement is the absolute baseline for what damage you should have at T8. If you cant reach it with T8, you are not good enough to move up yet. Improve your gameplay
-Second and third are usually achievable through T9s
-Fourth is easy to get as a T9-10.
..
..
..
..
Or you can choose to suck, lose a lot of your games, get reported every game, make life miserable for yourself and everyone else who has the misfortune to have been on your team.
Tip: Don't turn off the sound or play music over game-sound. I've lost count of all the times I've been rammed because the other guy didn't hear my horn.
I run a "casual clan". Just play and get bonuses. No need to div. up or play clanbattles. I don't get why some players don't want that. Also: Guys who join a clan and then don't play for three weeks. Why join if you're not gonna use it?
If you play regulary premium time is the way to go.
The funniest noob misstake? Players who FXP:ed up the Pan-Asia DD-line and don't know what a DW-torp is.
I thought it will address stuff like positioning in battle.
You have to tier up for playing other modes, I set off the chat indeed because of the jerks. I didn`t know that about the credits, thanks for this hint.
I would disagree with number one mistake. The real game begins starting from tier VIII ships and thanks to gift from my relative. I suck in the begining playing with Tirpitz in the begining but later it make grind easier with German BB. So I replace with map awarness and I still usually caught when for example brawling.
I cant find Inventory Tab in menù: can u help?
I really dislike that port slots are not near as plentiful for those that aren’t throwing money to get dubs to buy them at 300dubs/slot. Having them as mission rewards was way better than this current bullshit system.
You can also wish both sides a good luck have fun at the start. Let's change chat and make the game less toxic
I come from WoT and I know and agree with everything here, the core mechanics are very similar. I admit I'm new and I don't know much of the game yet, but I got a nice coupon that gave me a lot of doublons and I have been asking everywhere, so I ask here with the hope of getting some luck and someone woudl help me. I'm new, I have doublons and I want to buy a premium ship, mostly for 2 things: grind credits and grind event missions, so I think of a ship above tier 5. Which ship would you recommend me?
The most common mistake I see and I was guilty of doing this when I was a rookie was Don't Rush the Target. These new players when they start out get a DD or an HC and they go full throttle and ram the target. That's good if you are Tier 1 but bad if you are Tier 4 or Tier 5 Never Rush The Target! they will kill you.
My idea of the biggest mistake is being new now when the game is probably the worst its ever been.
I agree I wasted a lot of free Xp but now I am at the rush spot and regret it
#6 Know when not to shoot #7 Learn when to hold and when to push
So after 3 years just how many credits did you have after the sell?
I have only been playing the game since early last summer, but my hubby has played for 6 years and was the one to get me into the game. When you said that I could sell the stock modules, this was new information. He did not tell me this. I am very excited to have about 5 mil credits back. Thank you!
People don't know how to use Damage Con is because Wargaming has never prioritized (that I know of) to make a proper tutorial. When I started playing there was nothing. Later I think there was something that didn't get past firing guns and torpedos.
I'd say one time getting a higher premium ship is specifically for Clan Activities. I got a Bayard for Random Ops with my clan when my highest ship was a tier 5. That really helped a lot in learning team play from my clan in Ops. This last thanksgiving I bought my daughter a Mainz B for her birthday. She was totally new but we spent hours working together on the ins and outs of game mechanics. In Clan Battles after a week of working with her she's an amazing player. Though she points out that like me she's prior military and follow instructions. LoL 😆
Bayard Fantastic ship
Another good thing about playing a second class is, you learn the problems as well as the threats of the class. A recent game, I was in a DD with a sub ahead of me, sub was spotted by the CV and fighters dropped on top. I proceeded to charge and dropped depth charges on his head when he pinged at probably 30m down, he died.
biggest tip i can think of is to play the class you are mad at after getting sunk by it or whatever. it was an eye opener for me, first with DDs, then CVs and now subs.
im one of these people that think that this class is unfair, i had no chance, etc. etc. until i play it myself and see all the negatives that class comes with.
i used free xp to get through the colorado cuase i really didnt enjoy the ship, but i later came back to it and ground out the vermont line tier 8 and enjoyed the colorado
Do you have anything about Legends?
Hello play subs better than tub ships now wows has changed my games to zero but watching your game play always put me in good mood thanks
Lots of facts here
Is TSOF still looking for players?
I just press the like button 👍
7. If you are in a CV, drop a screen on people who ask for it.
8, take breaks if you don't like the game.
lol.....take breaks? no, I switch to my "shit accounts" and play T10 DD just doing nothing. funny to see how useless the BBs are and funny to see how people get mad on me
I have a question about the selling back the Modules.
When we regrind a line of ships for Research Bureau Points, if we have not sold back the A Hull and other stock modules, are the ships any cheaper when repurchasing them?
I'm pretty sure it sells them for you. I.e. if you haven't already sold them, you'll get more credits when you reset the line.
Reginding ships is just like grinding them for the first time
@@coster1963 Haru is between 1.7-1.8 mil free xp to free xp grind everything, i take my time, and free xp every time there is a x2, i don't play Haru so i am ok to let it sit there till i have a x6, and that is enough for any RB ship.
I have seen that the RB is considered a 'Late Game' activity where you're expected to have a lot of Free XP and can simply use it to buy the ships. Since the only requirement to get the RB Points is to play a single COOP battle, the advanced modules are needed. While all the lines give the same amount of RB Points, I believe that the Japanese DD Harugumo line takes the least total XP to go from Tier 1 - X. Remember, you can Reset the line every time you complete the 'grind'.
The fifth point i avoided nicely lmao, i get The Oktyabratska revolutsiya as my first premium coal ship and did very well in it, my kd is 3,8 on that ship then i saved and got The Duke of York and i still perform okay in it with 3kd
Biggest mistake is firing, and then turning away and showing broadside. Firing every opportunity isn’t always the best route. Timing the firing is crucial - like just before you slip behind an island. Also picking the target that is most vulnerable to your shots is key to having battle impact. You may be in a duel with another ship - but if a another target reveals a broadside opportunity - take it.
I've played for 10 months and have 2 t9s and a coal t9, because I'm too lazy to do the t10 grind. Also on a standard account they really aren't profitable. I play casually, so it will be a minute.
Also, if I get a day of freemium I play as much as I can:)
I wish you could turn off port chat. No need to chase someone back to the port.
Sea Lord... It's called the Naval Base, It says so right there on the tab
I have to disagree, WoWS is not a team game. It's a pre-made focused game with some random jerks thrown into your matches, like with any MOBA. The helpful vs. troll ratio in chat is 1-99.
I agree it's not a team game because we compete with everyone to get the kills, many players will just shoot at the ships that are almost dead. I had one DD run across the map to get the final blow on a BB I was soloing.
On selling modules, the game was two or three years old before they allowed selling modules.
Sea Lord, that tip about reversing a DD into a cap really works! However, of course, after capping and running I still manage to get sunk sometimes!
Are you kidding? There are actually new people playing World of Warships with the addition of subs and Cvs, making camos useless, adding hybrids, taking away flag awards for heroic achievements, etc?
Regarding chat...blacklist anyone who is repeatedly being negative or just using the voice sounds as a playful thing.
You need to stick with Colorado to grind three ships now right? That must be an unbearable grind
I'm gonna give my top 3 because 5 is too many and they can be argued.
Number 3, its ok to upgrade your AA at least to some extent, even if its one Commander Spot. Aircraft right now is a major thorn in most players sides because with the addition of Hybrid Battleships, it just made a bad situation even worse.
Number 2, STOP PUSHING THE ENEMY SPAWN. 90% of time if you do this YOU WILL DIE. Im not even gonna say anymore about this, it should be self evident why.
Number 1, dont YOLO. If you die in the first 2 minutes, especially if you are a DD, you did not help at all. I dont know who started this, but this is the BIGGEST reason, by a long margin, how you rack up losses.
Chat has gotten real toxic so it really needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I find there are tons of toxic people now who like to complain that you didn't do the right thing as they die from doing something stupid.
Just as bad as the "buy a premium", new players can also just use exp and credit boosters to grind a single line hella fast. I'm run into way too many future 17900 shima players driving the Yugumo with
My big mistake was buying a permanent camo for 7500000 coins
Today is my 1 year anniversary. Yay me.
Top tip: Don't start playing WOWS, save your life.
Mistake nº1: Installing the game.
One Mistake (I still do) is playing co-op mode. It is good for tier I-III to learn the very basics but you get best results by yoloing in and torping left and right.
Thank you for this tipps, I am coming back to this game after years and your tipps are really helpfull.
I made that mistake. Been playing about 12 months, grinded out t10 in coop but i cant play it in random. Playing random is like starting all over again.
@@nathanbrompton453 Still useful if you need achievements and don't have much time.
@@nathanbrompton453 t10 in co-op! thats somehowimpressing.
@@throdwobblermangrove6200 Its true mate. Was hard work. But it left me with no random battle skills. Ive dropped back down to T5's and feel like a novice again lol.
That’s why I bought a mid tier premium ship in addition to the high tier ones. LOL 😝
Whats the problem with buying a T8 if you grinded to T7? Its not like a jump from T3-T8 lol smh
I have ground (grinded sounds suss) all the lines in the tech trees for four years now. I am at T6-7 on most all of them. Except for freebies, I never bought a dub premium until I got the Kii. I won the Scharnhorst B from black friday 2 years ago. I RARELY do random battles as I have medical issues. These same issues and some of the decisions made by WG have made me rethink where I want to be in WOWS. As much as having the Pommern in my port, I am stopping getting any tiers over T8. I do not see me having fun up on those lofty heights.
Wait, the camouflages don't actually increase your concealment?
They used to, not anymore
@@mindclaw915 I guess I won't let myself be tempted to splurge on the 22,500 camo then ... I can be a little cheap (trying to get as much out of the free to play game as possible)
Well before watching the video. I would say the biggest mistake a new player to make is...
Expecting veteran players to play well and to know what they are doing.
The best thing I did was joining a clan that and learning to buy premium time instead of ships
Re: Selling cammo's' keep Some around just for ships i don't play that much, and don't want to buy a permanent cammo for.
What you should do sea lord is talk about the premium tech tree ex. American secondary bb line
Casual Clan (NWA) 1 spot available.
Base Exp?
#4 chat --- depends...99.99% of typed messages in chat are worthless.
I started playing a month ago. The grind, everyone is talking about, is exactly what? I get ship xp, does it mean that when I reached a certain amount of ship xp, the next tier is free? Someone explain to a real noob😅🙏
Is there anywhere to find the minimum detection range of DD's? This would include captain skills and modifications.
So... I'll admit it, I just made 20 Million credits selling old camo...
XP is painful to get.....
"Pls keep Flanks balanced"
"Pls support A (or any other) Crew)
"Pls Dont rush"
"Pls push a little"
And so on..
Those lines have turned a lots of Matches to the better, when typed for teamplayers,by Teamplayers.
Of course theres Always those kind of Mates, just caring about their DPM,or being single Warriors.
But..just a little "Teamplay",watching the Mini map, comunicate could help out of bad Situations,or might even turn a Match completley!
Thx for mention,Sealord!👍
(Nodding allready to the "High Tier" topic😂)
there is no teamplay in WOWS. noone cares the DD at the cap, noone supports. teamplay doesnt exist
Mushy pea god
way back when i startted i thought the new mexico was baller
People who bitch about kills omg lol now I understand sometime when a your sitting there putting all the damage on a target and some idiot BB shoots it and kills it or something I understand they just wasted a shot to get a kill that’s like 800 health.
Read the patch notes! Not only will you be updated on what's going on each game update but they always put a day of premium time in there.
Please New to WOWS How the "H" do you leave a Division I keep getting the "you are already in a Division ERROR" I am the only "1 of 3" in the division. I am on XBOX X you would think there should be is a "LEAVE your Division" Tab But I see no such tab or cannot highlight any thing that lets Me "Leave" Last night I got an invite from a inebriated Aussie to join his "Division" everything was Just fine we played a few battle then he disconnected and I was left alone in the Division he created !!!!!!! and any attempts to reconnect/invite join his game results in the "You Are already in a Division" ERROR Somebody Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!! I have looked online with no help, I cannot be the only one this has happened to?
Just as I was typing SLM says the same thing damnit :~) Buying to top tier is crazy. As for modules, going back years I didn't know about that either and when I found it I had millions in modules ready to sell. I had soooo much credits it was awesome. Helped me buy better ships. Just cleared out my camo's this morning, got just over 14 mil.
I have never heard anyone be toxic in chat. I've read it but I've never heard it.
Good to know that as a just under three month player I have been pretty much doing it right. One thing I know I did not do right is use of flags and economic bonuses. I wasted them early on not knowing how much I would want to keep them for later. Don't put them on your tier IV ship and go and do co-op's all day!
Also I would say to look out for any freebie you can find. I have managed to play for nearly three months all on premium time due to this. Combination of campaigns, containers, online offers (steam, twitch etc) and the big one was Verizon giving me 4 months.
The one premium I bought with $ was the Perth which steam had on sale for $4.12. I used up the last bit of a gift card for that one.
