Bruh I’m convinced they’re about 12 people traveling the country keeping long johns open
😂
Not wrong, my guy. Not wrong.
100%, its gotta be a front for something crazy right? it just doesn't make sense.
Lmao u agree that’s cause my girl loves that crap lol
Look at the comments and you will see those 12 people. 🤣🤣
Back in the day u got a meal which was 3 chicken and 2 fish or vice versa. They used real grease and the pieces were so much bigger. The restaurant was so cool with little circular windows. And then u rang the bell before u left and the crew would all yell thank you. I loved it.
Fr it was a solid experience every time just cold asf inside lol
Don't forget the hat
My people! LJS the best!
The malt vinegar was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
They used to give pirate hats, too
I’m legit one of the last super-fans of this greasy, heart-stopping “sea food.”
I can’t help it. I love it. There’s one in Chicago here about a mile away.
Nobody lives forever, so get that LJS now!
That's sad. I used to love Long John Silvers when I was younger. To know that they've gone THAT downhill over the last 30 years, is very disappointing. The location near where I was living at the time, closed in the late 90's or early 2000's and became a Taco Bell. Now, I can see why.
Yeah man, when I first got a job and a car back as a teenager I ate LJS at LEAST once a week, it's a nostalgic food for me. Probably haven't eaten it in 10 or 15 years now honestly, and this review doesn't make me feel great about going back.
The worst thing about Long John Silvers is the service. Usually the workers are rude and then we gotta wait like 30 minutes for them to make our food.
The one near me is like a combo restaurant with a KFC but it’s still surprisingly good.
They did you wrong with that fish and chicken. I’m a store manager at a long John silvers so I am a reliable source. They cooked all of your food in old oil. That batter on the meats should be a golden color not the nasty copper color here. It makes MY stomach queasy seeing that. When fresh and cooked in new oil the food is way less greasy and tastes much much better. Corporate needs to be called on this location. It’s poor management like this that gives long John silvers a bad name. You should give LJS another try and go to another store. They should also have grilled shrimp and salmon if fried isn’t yo thang.
Long john silver was exceptionally good back in the day. Not sure I ever had a bad meal from there.
Chicken planks and MORE!!!! Malt vinegar a must.
@@MichaelClifford2020 Malt vinegar is THE way to go on fish from LJS (and Captain D's)
Thank you!
Isn't just his location, I had it a week ago after not trying it for 5 yrs..it was greasy and soggy, gave me a bad stomach ache
We don't get Long John Silvers or Red Lobster in New England, because we can actually get fresh fish pretty easily.
Yeah, places where sea food is not cheap or available is where i see the most seafood restaurants
Yeah, a Red Lobster TRIED to get a foothold in my area...closed up QUICK
I live in Alaska. Lol
Actually you've got ljs in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.
There is one LJS in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. It's shared with Tacobell. I don't know why because I never seen anyone order their food🤷🏽♀️.
Daym’s positivity really does make me feel good
I love LJS and the ones near me never use old grease or over fry. It’s my all around favorite restaurant, and they always cook to order in my area. I do know that they don’t have as much business, so it’s possible that effects the quality I receive
You know that food is greasy when the Fried Food King himself says we gotta cut back on the grease
It looks so burnt because they didn’t change out the oil B. The food is supposed to be the color of the crumbs brother 🤣🤣🤣
Yes look so gross and dark
Right
Tell me you from New York without telling me 🤣🤣
I just want to say thank you for the positive messages at the end it's a nice touch and you are right it can hit maybe just one person but to that one person could mean their day, or world. Thank you for that! Great review man keep it up!
Love ❤️ Long John Silvers!!! It's not for everyone...however it has to be done right! Or else it makes a bad guest experience, cooks must be trained properly on the art of deep frying!
Exactly !! Correct at ours which is a ljs/A&W we are taught to shake the food 12 times before it goes into the serving window aka warmer whatever you want to call it but yes there are many variables that can cause things like the fish to be greasy or over cooked being a fryer myself I will say the most common cause of soggy food is simply not shaking it enough or it has been sitting too long and if you have a credible management leaders the hold time on fish and chicken is only suppose to be 15 minutes but it usually takes about 30 for the items to start be coming soggy and when they become soggy they start soaking up grease combine all this and you for sure will have an unappetizing meal
@@patrickhall6831 Na the common cause of greasy food is cold oil or old oil.
The pieces seem so small compared to how they use to be
I was noticing that too.
LJS slaps! love the little crunchy batter you get in every box.
Yea u right Hella batter
oh noooooo lmaoo I feel bad for you son
Yep we always put a scoop in every box it is actually like a rule or something but yeah
That shit is gross lol.
There’s always someone that tries to be a Brian 🙄
I just had LJS a few weeks ago at a location in Toledo, OH. Although they got part of my order wrong (fish tacos instead of shrimp tacos) I have to say the fish I had was very good; thicker pieces than what I saw in your box and not greasy at all was hot and crispy. Must be the location.
Ohio has good LJS. One in Portsmouth is not bad.
Gotta comment! I live in Finland and we don't have 99% of the food chains you review over here but your personality makes these videos such a blast to watch! :D big fan~ !
Our long John is combined with an A&W restaurant and I always get the double American burger with fries and that legendary root beer 🍺
root beer hit
A&W be slappin!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The hot dogs was the shit
Root beer can drive me away
Long John Silvers is a bootleg Captain D’s. 😆😆
Captain D’s is bland af
Tf is Captain D's
Captain Ds isn’t even popular only known in a few states
@@blackmetalhead5883 There are some in SC, as well but, they hardly have customers.
Fun fact: Captain D's established August 15, 1969.
LJS, August 18, 1969.
I stopped eating LJS years ago. It’s just a grease pit! Haha. Hush puppies were always bangin’ though! I appreciate the positive messages at the end of your videos lately. Seriously. 💙
I love that you've started the inspirational section at the end of your videos. It means a lot to me. Thank you!
I'm going to be devil's advocate and say that I love LJS. They may not be the best but their taste is familiar to my palate because my mother used to treat us to their food when we were younger and I always liked their food. For me my love for their food is linked to nostalgia. They have not changed their recipes and I don't know that I would enjoy them the same if they did. Maybe they can add new items to the menu that offer something different but I will continue to support their franchise but unfortunately they are closing most of their stores in my area. Oh and side note I live in Houston so you may be right about Texas.
I hear you man, LJS is a very nostalgic food for me too, too bad it gives my wife a stomach ache so I never get to go there (doesn't help there's only a couple within 2 hours drive of me either now that I live in the PNW, but back where I grew up in KY they were a solid seafood QSR option)
Same! We went to LJS on Friday's after church. Those little crunchy bits were my little guilty pleasure. Ah, I miss it!
That batter good to me lol
Lol hell yes LJS smacks!! I can’t lie some of the quality has really gone down in my areas, but at it’s prime it was amazing!! Chicken and fish platter!!
Yes!!!
I'm shocked at how crispy everything looks. Everytime I've tried LJS, the fish has been super soggy.
Depends on your location and ownership
@@SacKingJOSER916 Thank you.
@@SacKingJOSER916 Yeah, my local DQ almost never has bad tasting food.
Yo Daym, I'm from the Netherlands and I always watch your videos when I'm gaming or working from home. On one screen I have my own stuff and on the other your videos are playing on CZcams. Thanks you for your videos man!
This was by far the funniest food review I seen this year ! 😂😂
So weird, we just got a family meal and a sea-share today. They have really good tartar sauce. We only go maybe twice a year or so. I grew up on LJS
Daymdrops I'm from new jersey and I never had any bad experiences with customer service or the food it was always fresh never under cooked or over cooked and I'm sincerely disappointed the franchise left my hometown 🤔I'm in a serious drought for the franchise take care!!!!
After the last 2 years, it's great that you are still out there.
You are the best at what you do.
Stay crispy.
I used to work there and I could tell a few things right away when you opened that box. The fish and the chicken were both cooked in old oil and oil that hasn’t been skimmed in a while, all those black pieces. The hush puppies on the other hand did look fresh, and by the color it looks like they cooked them in newer oil. It also looks like the batter was kind of thin.
Wow I can't imagine how they stay in business 😲
Money laundering probably lol
My family LOVES Long John Silvers! Yes, it's super greasy so we get it maybe once or twice a year. We also bring home and pat down with paper towels when we can. But it's always fresh and wonderful!
When you picked up that piece of fish I’m like na that can’t be the chicken 😂 I like long John silvers I love the left over crunchies sometimes I get extra
Needed the positive vibes Daym. Much love, just found your channel, yesterday.
I dunno man, I grew up in Tennessee (where stuff like Long John Silver's and Captain D's holds some water), but I live in Waterbury, CT now, and it doesn't hold the same muster in this part of the country.
Look my Grandparents love and loved Long John's and I grew up eating it on a regular basis so for people like me Long John Silvers is a comfort food that takes ya back to the good times before this world went off the deep end💙
Haven't eaten there in probably 10 years. Just never crave a whole meal of greasy fried foods.
Really needed that positivity at the end like genuinely thank you
They are still in business?!? I haven’t seen or been to one in over 20 years
I never been to one. I thought that they walked the plank decades ago.
I never was big on LJS fries. But the hush puppies, chicken, and fish can be good. I think it just depends on who is cooking the food.
It’s just bagged frozen food then thrown into a deep fryer for specified times. Probably depends on how quickly you get it from the fryer and not sitting under a heat lamp for too long x.
@@DP-eo5xd it is frozen but we actually hand batter all the chicken planks fish, cod and shrimp just throwing that out there.
I love you so much. The review, sarcasm, beard, voice.
Food adventures!
Love your reviews, bro! You the man, hands down! Thank you for everything.
I've never gotten bad food at LJS, always fresh.... Only occasionally the fries wasn't hot enough for me... But it's been for a few years, nearest one like ,60 + miles away
I love LJS when they aren’t closed early. Problem is that they seem to be mostly shared with Taco Bells now and close at like 8, or I show up and it’s cash only. The real poll is how many people carry cash anymore?
I always carry cash
Ur a fool 💏

Just got into bad situation and I'm out here for a lil....ngl your videos help with the vibe and lighten the mood. Especially if I'm not that hungry and can tolerate if the food actually looks good and I feel kinda teased lol aye bruh keep up the positive energy
Aye and keep reading the reviews of the restaurants!! You have no idea how many times reviews saved me my money AND my life...FR
No idea how you came up in my recommendations, but the more I watch, the more I like.
The LJS that was closest to where I live closed down many years ago. I'm not surprised though. The last time I was at that LJS (or any LJS for that matter) the food and service was so bad. Dare I borrow a quote from Mr. Daym himself?? It was almost worse than a "Negative two, Boo Boo the fool".
The food looks like a heartache waiting to happen.
The bubble guts
As an ex-employee of LJS they do have quality food, but it definitely has a shelf time. I worked at the location in Moline, Illinois during high school for three years. I would recommend that customers request their food freshly dropped. But the oil only gets changed once a day(at close) then fresh oil the next day upon opening.
I was a cook for LJS back in the day, that stuff has been cooked in really old oil. The chicken, shrimp and fish are all frozen, then battered, then fried. When done correctly, with the proper amount of coating and clean oil, it would be much better. The hushpuppies are a mix and scooped out with like a mini ice cream scooper, at my store we used to make larger ones for ourselves.. ha ha. The bits on top are the crispies, they are what is left over after the cooking process, most people like to request extra, that was one of the fun things to cook, because we always made extra and kept them in the window. Not all LJS are like this, you need to try one that has better quality control.
The “Taco Bell, Long Johns” double location in South Jersey was awesome!! 5-6 years ago I would get the crispies on the bottom for free and add hot sauce… Called it hot sauce soup. Also always grip a chicken tender to go on the cheesy Gordita crunch :)
If the food hasn’t been sitting LJS is good to me!!
YEP

Daymn, all of the content you put out is great but this is my favorite video, not because of LJS I saw this coming lol. More importantly, you always had this but this video was the cherry on top. What I'm talking about is that great, beautiful, heart you have. Thank you so much for that wonderful offer of friendship you made because there are so many struggling as you pointed out. Keep doing great work Daymn, I'll holla at you. 🙂✊🏽
I love LJS, but when it's good it's good and when it's bad it's bad. I just get the fish, chicken, or clams I don't need the sides, but you have to get the extra crumbs. It is a guilty pleasure of mine
No middle ground.
Fair review, I think. I haven't had LJS since I was a kid in 1983ish. It was such good memories, I don't want to ruin that trying it again as an adult. Good video, thanx for the upload.
the long john silvers near me is take out only, so the food is always fresh. i have to drive 30 minutes out of the way to get there, but its worth it. that place is nostalgic to me, and finding a good one so close when i moved made me very happy.
Honestly, I actually enjoy Long John Silver's, they maybe expensive but their food is much better than McDonald's.
When you combine a fish restaurant (LJS) with a mexican restaurant (Taco Bell) it's a disaster. And the bad part of it the restaurant was located across the street from a Captain D's fish restaurant; LJS competition.
Captain d’s is no where near as good as it used to be either
i thought long john silvers was gone like all the ones near me closed and been abandoned and over grown
Super official comic book 🇺🇸. That what I needed to hear been going through a lot being disabled. Glad ya have encouraging words.
I love Long John Silvers, it's a great change from burgers all the time but it has to be cooked right, hot , crispy and fresh
Indeed
@@patrickhall6831 😉
12:28 lol as you willfully pay for suffering. Yeah, you're a great man, Daym! :)
Dude! Before you said you were feeling queasy, I was gonna say that last time I ate there (15 years ago), I felt queasy. I feel your pain, but I thank you for the video! Good luck with the comic book!
Super official!!! Thanks for putting out the great vibes and content.
Our local LJS has always been delicious. I've never liked the chicken but the fish is ON POINT! Green beans are always hot n tasty and don't know what they put in them but danggggg...makes me want a bucket full. Hush puppies are crisp, crunchy, soft inside and yumm.
But then again, I'm Southern born and raised. I can see why some don't like it
Daym! I just want to say that I appreciate the positivity messages! In general, I'm a positive person but I understand when you say that SOMEONE out there needs to hear it! Please keep it up! God is using you for good! Blessings my brother!
I go there maybe once or twice a year because that batter is so addictive and a guilty pleasure. Yesterday I actually went and got some fish and shrimp. The fish was pretty good, but the shrimp seemed off. I always go with the malt vinegar on the fish and its tasty.
Absolutely love it! Best channel. If I wasn't broke, I would def pick up a comic!
Long John silvers isn’t the best but I wouldn’t mind eating it if my food is fresh
I grew up eating their food, and I think the problem with them is they need to revamp their menu and not be afraid to change; they've stuck with a formula that has somehow kept them afloat, but times change, and change is what could make or break. If it brakes, learn from it. Until next time, take of yourself... and each other.
Appreciate the positive vibes 🤍
Long john silvers was my first job here in Mesquite tx. I was a fry cook there and I always made sure the food was good. We were also an A&W
I love LJS, but they closed the restaurant in my town recently. I think if they would go back to the way they made their food back when I was a kid, the stores wouldn't be closing. The service was way better back then, too. What you just ate looks NASTY. I never saw anything like that at our LJS. Shameful. It used to be thick fish, thick chicken, gorgeous hushpuppies and fries! Everything was pleasantly greasy, not dripping in it.
Daym I bought your comic book as fast as humanly possible on eBay once i knew about that SUPER OFFICIAL COMIC BOOK! I wanted to buy that signed version but couldn’t find it.
Also- appreciate the positive message at the end, it hit the feels for the reals this morning 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
I Live in Lubbock TX and we have I think 4 or 5 LJS locations. The quality is very location dependent in my experience. I really enjoy the food at 2 locations and have vowed not to return to 2 others. It is all deep fried and that's fine by me when it is cooked in fresh grease that is hot enough to prevent it for soaking up to much excess oil like a sponge and the workers take their time long enough to allow the batches to properly drain for a few moments after being removed from the fryer. Using malt vinegar definitely helps cut through the richness and gives the fish a nice bright flavor. When you go to a poorly run location it can be far to much excess grease and soggy but at its best I really enjoy the food. I love all types of food and I LOVE high quality and upscale seafood. This is not that but at the best location in town it is consistently good. Sadly I have had some truly terrible LJS at other locations.
Long John Silver's is amazing
Im 44 LJS has been obsolete since 1997 in ohio at least where i am lol, Literally no one goes there or talk about it anymore. I use to love them back in the day, they were pretty good.
I think the one in Akron is still there by the old rolling acres mall now the mall is a Amazon warehouse
My local franchise finally closed down, they had a bad habit of never taking coupons while being in the kind of parking lot you have to make a real effort to get into. Such a shame, I really love LJS chicken planks, used to go with my Grandparents back in the early 90s and nostalgia keeps me hoping to find a restaurant to visit someday.
Long Johns closed down in my town without notice and the city next door. The closest LJS is about 30 miles away now. They have/had really good coleslaw, baked fish w/ rice platters and green beans.
They are still delicious, and they still make your food cooked-to-order!
Fried fish is greasy, but I love long John silver's!
When it's done right, that is. They have grilled fish, grilled shrimp and salmon. They serve shrimp scampi over rice. They CAN be awesome.
I haven't been to one since I was a kid. I remember liking it and wanting to go there all the time, but my dad always called it "the grease pit". We didn't go for a long time, despite my urging, and they closed down after a while. I don't think we've had one in my town in like 15 years at least.
I’m from Texas and LJS is the same down here. I used to love getting the fish with malt vinegar but the last few times I went (which was a few years ago) the grease was just too much and the employees acted like they didn’t want to be there. Our hometown LJS finally shut down with no surprise to anyone.
We just had a new long John silvers built . Now open in Fredericksburg.
That beginning hit hard🙂. Thanks!
Super official comic book looks nice! Thank you for spreading the positive word for the foodie fam
I love your positivity man and if I ever need to I will reach out! I try to provide the same for the people in my Twitch community. Even that can be hard. Keep up the awesome work!
I think that Long John Silvers went downhill when they started combining them with KFC and/or A&W Rootbeer around here. Since then they fryers just arent kept up, and the fish filets have been getting thinner and breadier. We finally gave up altogether a few years back.
My local LJS that had been there for 35 years burnt down last year. They are rebuilding from scratch with another LJS in the same location.
Thks for the review Brother.. I live in Chi-Town .... Long John's Closed 7 yrs ago in my neighborhood (Northside) of town.
It's nostalgia for me. I remember going to LJS as a child with my mother. But like back then visits there were far and few between. Every now and then I get a craving for the frozen section fish, chicken, and fries dipped in hot salted oil.
I live in Houston TX and I can tell you the last two times I tried LJS, I became sick to my stomach after the meal. Never again. They suck in Texas too! Good video!
Super Official Comic Book ! Thank You Daym ! Hope You Have A Great Day/Night !
I worked at LJS for 3 weeks before quitting. That chicken and fish looked overcooked or recooked. It was pretty impossible to screw up cooking the hush puppies, but the batter always had a weird smell before cooking it. All of the chicken and fish came pre frozen, and we'd dunk it in the batter and then fry it. I remember reporting multiple problems and they never got fixed. The freezer wasn't cold enough so chicken and fish were thawing out. The fryers kept having this issue with turning off by themselves and then the chicken and fish would be undercooked.
The hushpuppies looked good but just looking at the rest of it gave me heartburn. I'm from Ohio, we have Long John Silver's here and a place called Captain D's which is similar to LJS but more options. I really like the fried okra at Captain D's and they have upped their game on their fish and chicken.
Been there once back in 2020 and there was only 1 location in my area the food was good and they even said fresh out of the kitchen it was a good experience. And now that location has been closed since late January early February
NYC has no LJS’s thank god cause that looked hella greasy my stomach already be on tilt and that would make it worse thanks for the kind words of encouragement always Daym much love king 👑 🙌🏽💪🏽🦾
I'll be watching your Netflix special , the "I love you man" in response to your "kiss" statement part was pure comedy!🤣
Lol man I thought I was tripping when I seen this dude face on Netflix. I checked out one of the episodes it was good imo.
I only went once about 20 years ago when I was visiting Florida. There’s not any in the northeast where I live and it doesn’t appear that I’m missing anything. I DO miss Arthur Treacher’s.
Facts on the end message. Respect brother. Stay up and keep doing you
i can tell you right now that grease hasnt been changed in at least 4 days, just from the color of the fish and chicken
