*Update! Many of you had suggestions for what I need to try NEXT at Bonchon and so here is my 2nd Video that I just dropped with my Daughter!* czcams.com/video/j6mWNOvnNEg/video.html
It's not the best authentic Korean fried chicken. KFC usually takes 20-30 min. It's double fried whole chicken and they serve it with pickled daikon radish. There is another style called ChiMaek which Bonchon seems more close to with which is a chicken (chi) and beer (maekju, hence Maek). If you can find the other style you will see the difference between the two but hope you enjoyed Bonchon.

My brother is serving in the military and he’s stationed in Korea. We (mom dad and I) went to visit June 2019 and I had Korean BBQ and Korean fried chicken for the first time! Hands down the best food I’ve ever had to date.
Make sure to hit up some street food chicken and some fully loaded rice dogs as well. We have Rice Dogs over in the North American market now though so maybe check closer to home too.

As an Korean, please do not think Bonchon chicken as Korean chicken. They are one of the biggest failure of Korean Chicken. If you think Bonchon is good, bro… Bonchon’s website is basically closed and is and was one of the smallest chicken franchise. Which means failure. Yes it is just failure. I have tried that once… but it was no for me. You gotta try the real thing as soon as possible. You guys are wasting your life only using 10% of your sense of taste.
They were almost bankrupt in Korea but became famous in other countries just by introducing a failed Korean Chicken which is still whole new level than others.
Well, time will tell. When other successful chicken franchises from Korea spreads out, they will be closed down.

@@michaelb2685 here as a Korean American guy, here’s my recipe for Korean fried chicken if you can’t find a restaurant.
Ingredients:
3/1 pound of chicken thighs and drumsticks
Pinch of salt and pepper
2 cups of potato starch/cornstarch
Any kind of neutral oil for frying
2 - 2 1/2 tbsp of gochujang(Korean chili paste)
Just a little bit of ketchup
1/4 cup of honey
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2 tbsp of soy sauce
1 tbsp of mirin
2 tbsp of minced garlic
1 tbsp of sesame oil
1. Coat the chicken in potato starch/corn starch seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper
2. Bring up your oil up to 347F/175C and fry your chickens from between 3 to 5 mins depending on the size of your chickens. Take your chicken out then pat it dry, then fry them til golden and crispy. DO NOT OVERCROWD THE PAN!
3. Get another saucepan, combine the other ingredients that are listed upon. Heat the sauce over low to medium and make sure you stir it well. Once the sauce is bubbling, it means it’s done.
4. Coat the fried chickens in the sauce you made and you may garnish it with peanuts/sesame seeds and sliced green onions

Korean fried chicken actually has American roots. US soldiers brought fried chicken with them during the US military occupation of korea. From there, the recipe trickled out of the military bases where it was adapted to better fit the tastes of the Koreans making it.
i like korean chicken better it’s so good
Shit defo taste better than american chicken
“The recipe for frying chicken was already a form of cooking in the 15th century, so it is presumed that it has been cooked since the Korean - Goryeo Dynasty”.
I think korean fried chicken is less salty and more heavy on the sauces. I prefer a extra crispy kfc or popeyes if I'm craving actually fried chicken. If it's like small chicken bites or something then korean maybe but korean fried chicken is still awesome
@@y2dub64 The cooking process was different than modern fried chicken. It's fried with oil, then has a mixture of flour, soy sauce, oil and vinegar added and fried again.
Don’t knock the pickled daikon radish. It is amazing and comes with most orders free-either the daikon or cole slaw are both excellent. We like their chicken with bulgogi fried rice-Delish. They twice fry the wings; hence their crispness!!!!!!
Great to hear that you like our sides, they are delish.
