I recently transferred as a junior to UC Berkeley from a community college in Los Angeles. I'm sharing my experience and what I’ve learned along the way to be a resource to other community college students, people who are considering going to community college, or really anyone who is on a path that might look a little different from what others around them are doing!

I'm applying to UCB next month to transfer from CC as a non traditional older student. Your video really helped me feel like I'm making a good decision and that I won't be alone when I transfer!

I went almost similar like I went to college at age 18 after high school but I end up dropping out and fast forward at the age 23 years I decided to go to smc start fresh and now I’m 26 transferring. Im disbelief because I wouldn’t imagine myself making it this far . And now I already submitted my transfer application and the school I’m trying to get into is csun (: .

Except for higher GPA. Do we need to good at writing essays and joining extracurricular activities ?
I transferred from Ventura College to UCSB. The first 2 years of college cost $1000 in tuition. It was worth it.
Did you withdraw any classes at community college?
What are you applying to for grad school? What field and what schools? What’s the goal?
I'd very much like to go to grad school but I am still exploring different possibilities and figuring out exactly what path is best for me! I'm sure I'll make some upcoming videos about it as I get closer to making grad school decisions. :)
Hannah Stark what major did you study at lost Angeles valley and what are you majoring in at UC Berkeley now? When you apply as a transfer is your major set already or do you have to apply still during your first year at Berkeley? Or depends on some majors right? Some you already get admitted to Berkeley as the major while some have to apply right? So what was yours?
Did you get a lot of aid from Berkeley?
Yes! Berkeley gave me the most generous aid package of the schools that accepted me. I'm super thankful for what they offered me. However, moving up here was still very expensive because the cost of living (rent, etc) is much higher than it was for me in Los Angeles.
What was your GPA?

What were ur highschool grades?
My high school grades were decent but not nearly as good as my community college grades! :)
