  • Many people are aware of the connection between a highly processed diet and inflammation, which can lead to disease.
    However, what’s alarming is that the average person on the “western” diet has a ratio of 18:1 of omega-6 to omega-3 in their diet.
    So today, I want to share with you a surprising list of the top most inflammatory foods based on their omega-3 to omega-6 ratio.
    Join me on #CabralConcept 2959 to see which ones you can switch out of from your diet and improve on today.
    Enjoy!

    NEW HERE?
    Hi, I’m Stephen Cabral, Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy and Integrative Health Practitioner.
    For years I struggled with trying to figure out how to overcome multiple life-alternating illnesses such as auto-immune, Addisons, type 2 diabetes, digestive, allergies, insomnia, and debilitating fatigue.
    Then I discovered a mentor who taught me how to combine and integrate multiple health practices into one. From there I tested these theories by traveling all around the world and discovering how to finally help people rebalance their bodies and live the life they always wanted.
    I’m happy to say that after being shown the way and now creating my own proven protocols based on combining the best of ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with state-of-the-art Functional Medicine my team and I have completed over 250,000 appointments helping people just like you and I.
    If you’re interested in getting well, losing weight, or living longer stronger, I look forward to helping you to accomplish those goals. Be well and please always reach out if you have any questions or if my team and I can be of service!

    Hey Doc, what’s your take on Brazil nuts?

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 4 měsíci +4

      Brazil nuts are excellent and provide more selenium than almost any other food with just 2-3 nuts; however, they can cause digestive issues in some people.

    Dr. Cabral, do Omega 3 supplements have to be stored in a refrigerator? Do your supplements go through a process to prevent them from becoming rancid ?

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes, they do not require refrigeration; however, they should not be stored in high temperature environments or direct sun.

    Concerning grapeseed oil: I don't use any seed oils for cooking, and I avoid chips and snacks for the most part. But I do use virgin grapeseed oil as a source of omega 6. Because I avoid the bad stuff. I use just two teaspoons of grapeseed oil a day............and that's all. My cooking oils are animal sourced.

    In Uzbekistan we use sunflower and cotton seed oil, because they are cheap and uzbeks like these oils

    The point here is that we should not be afraid to eat nuts and seeds even if they are high in omega-6 fats, and we should also eat some omega-3-rich flax and/or chia seeds and walnuts daily too. Excluding nuts and seeds, or greatly restricting them, is not lifespan-promoting whether one has heart disease or not. I have had thousands of patients and readers of my books, with heart disease, follow my protocol with spectacular results.

    Can a fish oil supplement increase our LDL and cholesterol numbers. Pharmacist says it can and my primary doesn't suggest it. 🤷‍♀️

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The relationship between fish oil supplements and cholesterol levels, particularly LDL cholesterol, is complex and not fully understood. While some studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil may modestly increase LDL cholesterol levels in some individuals, other research has found no significant impact, and individual responses may vary.

    Wouldn't corn be considered an inflammatory food since it is extremely high in omega six? Also, a Brazil nut commonly to people as a health food is extremely high in omega six as well?

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Corn can be inflammatory for many reasons, and despite some healthy foods being higher in Omega 6, it is the balance of the whole diet that determines the ratio. Since many people are eating the Standard American Diet which contains mostly processed foods, this is why the average American has an 18:1 Omega6/Omega3 ratio, when the ideal is 3:1.

    I have a dumb question. Since soybean comes from Tofu. Should we stay away from tofu just like peanut? I always thought tofu were great but after watching this I kind of not confident about it anymore. And since corn oil not good should we avoid actual corn too? Or, is oil little different from the actual food that oil is extracted from.
    Thank you

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 3 měsíci

      Focus on purchasing non-GMO Tempeh if you enjoy tofu without the potential negative concerns.

    • @stephencabral
      @stephencabral  Před 4 měsíci +2

      3-4 times per week is what I found to be enough to maintain the proper Omega6/Omega3 ratio.

      Cod liver oil is a source of vitamin D, however it doesn't mean it is the best choice.
