It was just allowing me to lose weight quickly, and that was reason enough for me to stick to it. But man, lately I have been having mental clarity and energy like never before in my life. I can commit things to memory almost accidentally whereas before I would have to put a ton of effort into it. Thank you so much for this video. Several members of my family & friends need this info and I am sharing it with them. I have been on the carnivore diet for 2 months now & feel so much better. I cheated last Friday with peach pie & ice cream. I had severe pain in my joints with in a few hours that lasted into the following day. Guess I will not cheat again as I don't care for that condition and it was difficult to get around and do simple things. God bless you & your family. ♡

      "Cheating" once per month, then once per week, and finally on entire weekends, put an end to my low carb diet after I'd been on it a couple years. When I finally realized processed sugar is a poison, like alcohol, tobacco and heroin, I got back on the low carb/ Keto wagon. Having cake or pie is like an ex-smoker having a cigarette. Or, recovering alcoholic having a drink. When you look at it that way, cheating makes no sense!

I went on a keto diet, lost 50#. Unvaccinated , got covid in early March. Never felt good after that. Was scheduled lazer surgery on the prostate in June. Pre OP labs showed mild anemia. egfr of 9 with a creatinine of 6. Something. My surgeon called and said get to the nearest hospital for a Foley. That immediately started improving things. Lazer surgery went well and I continued to improve. In Nov of 23 my egfr was 33 with creatinine at 1.89. I was skin and bones at 145# because of the kidney failure so I put on 15 # and my numbers are now going the wrong way .egfr 29, creatinine 2.12. Not exactly eating keto either. I am normally active. I cut and split 8 cord of wood a year + a very big garden. Have to go back to keto and just eat more , I dont think at 160# I need to lose more.

    I have had CKD Stage 3a for around 20 years, I followed standard UK advice and took the blood pressure tablets, and Statins as recommended. I kind of held level, just dropping slightly. After changing countries, and getting better nutrition advice, initially LOWERING protein, because of the anxte shown by the medics I saw a mixed bag, sometimes better sometimes worse going down to 47eGFR at one point. Slowly I have become much more meat based, with veggies, and fats a plenty, and both my last labs had me at 61eGFR. I believe it is an associative assumption that because the kidneys are spilling protein that the kidneys are being damaged by the protein. I think the kidneys simply are spilling what they can't process, and as a building block the protein is needed to keep the body going. Currently 70 years of age, on no medication, just Iron supplements, and multivitamin, with no other conditions worth a mention, a BP generally in the 117 0ver 72 at 60 BPS, and able to work harder than I did 10 years ago.

      @@leen1q84 I think the Judith Wynn post covers most of it.,
      My last blood and urine test had me way back down to 46, which is a big drop from the 61, so I have tried to re-evaluate, and I suspect I have been too cavalier with my diet recently. I had been principally Carnivore, especially for breakfast... I think this may have been one problem, perhaps that I was eating too much protein in one hit first thing in the morning. Added to that I gave in to one of my weak spots which was ice cream, which I started making bigger and bigger plate loads... Other than those two things I could not think of anything too different from when things were going well. So I think reduce ice cream to a minimum, just a treat, and not so much protein at a sitting. Time will tell, I don't have another check up until March. As for advice, I think the main thing to do is minimise the carbs, balance the meal with veggies plus make the portions moderate, and be aware of the amount of carbs in processed foods.

    • @capnpugwash5403
      @capnpugwash5403 Před 2 lety +7

      @@laanam5456 I think as a diabetic you can cease being diabetic unless that is type 1, even those people can have improved health by totally avoiding carbs for 60 to 90 days. Diabetes is Insulin resistance where you have overloaded your cells with insulin from your pancreas. As a result the cells go deaf and will not listen to the insulin knocking on the door. Reduce Carbs.... ALL carbs, to as close to zero as you can, and after a period of time the body realises it is not being overwhelmed, and starts to listen to the insulin. After that cold turkey period you can then consume carbs in moderation without returning to a diabetic condition. It is worth 3 months of deprivation to keep your eyesight, and not lose feet and legs to amputation. Also sugars are inflammatory, so will make ANY condition worse, and cause many. Cancer loves sugar. I would personally suggest a combination of veggies and protein, in the form of fish eggs, red meat, and fowl. Also do not be afraid of fat it is extremely low in terms of creating insulin spikes. But ALL foods are converted to glucose in the body, just at a rate that you can cope with. While removing all carbs is the best policy, if you are on meds like metformin, or worse still using insulin, then you really need to monitor your blood sugars with a meter to make sure you do not become Hypo, but it should be possible to wean yourself off the meds in quite a short period of time. I have caused my wife to no longer be pre-diabetic, and a couple of other people to have greatly improved health with this advice.

Working out and “eating healthy” has always been part of my lifestyle. Because of the lupus, my kidneys already have some damage according to a kidney biopsy a couple years back and I’m worried about this diet possibly further damaging my kidneys. So far, I’m loving the results- more energy, less inflammation, loss of unwanted fat, etc. but I just worried about what is going on on the inside. It is concerning because I’m having trouble finding research based on cases like mine with LN pertinent to the carnivore diet. I would love to continue the diet but not without having to sacrifice the health of my already damaged kidneys from the lupus. You might need more than keto/carni altho thats a good starting point. You need muse AT stem cell activation in order to rebuild new organs. Fortunately this advanced therapy is now completely free.
      Check out The Phoenix Protocol YT chan and book for science and guidance. Dr. August Dunning is NASA scientist tasked with figuring out how to keep astronauts alive in space--huge radiation problem there. This is what he advises for fixing radiation damage.
      I just finished my first protocol. I know 1 person who did it for 14 days and regrew her entire thyroid (it had been surgically removed)--it WILL activate pluripotent stem cells across entire body. Note that "free" is not same thing as "easy."

    General question, not specifically about renal health. I want to avoid as many environmental toxins as possible. I know you recommend a reverse osmosis filter. I am concerned about the plastic tubings and filter membranes. Does your system have these plastics, do you recommend a particular system, and do have any workaround to help avoid the harmful chemicals? Thanks for your time, I love your online content and have just finished reading your book.

    I desperately need your help 😱
    Watching every single one of your videos and reading your book has totally transformed my life and by extension my husband as well. I am now 10lbs below my goal weight & I have helped my husband lose 85 lbs. I started this journey with your virtual help 2 years ago. This is my dilemma. My husband has stage 3b kidney disease & his triglycerides are up. I follow a low carb ‘ketoberryish’ diet and my husband is just about carnivore. Doctors AREN’T trained to use nutrition to heal our body’s and they want to put him on all types of meds. We need help tweaking his diet to prevent progression of his kidney disease and lower his triglycerides.
    HELP - please give me some direction. We aren’t that far away. We’re in VA 😬

      If this still matters, have him get a Cystatin-C test. I was also 3B and it changed the eGFR from 43 to 60. Apparently carnivore and carnivore-ish diets affect aspects of the tests used to estimate GFR. Hope this helps.

    I'm about 6 weeks in to my carnivore restart, so I got new blood work yesterday for hba1c, basic metabolic panel and a new lipid panel...all my numbers are going in the right direction except for the total cholesterol (not worried about that, I'm not even above the normal range yet), but my eGFR dropped from 96-68 in about 6 weeks on carnivore... however my bun is 20, it shows as just 3 points over high normal, and my creatinine is still in the normal range at 1.08...should I be worried about these mixed messages from my kidneys?

    I switched to a whole food plant based diet and my stage III kidney failure has completely reversed. Five years ago I was the walking dead with type II diabetes, neuropathy, kidney failure, high blood pressure, I had a heart attack. Determined to turn things around I eliminating all processed foods and began eating only plants. Latter I added in intermittent fasting and OMAD. I've heard of people turning out stage IV kidney failure with a nutrition based diet....sounds way better than improving a few markers. I get a blood test every three months EVERY marker is normal except total cholesterol which is low....I had 110 mg/dl. BTW, my entire life I was diagnosed with familial Hypercholesterolemia.

    Kidney transplant recepient here. Thriving.. 10 years in December. Was on dialysis for 6.5 years. Dr's misdiagnosed me at 21 saying it was a kidney disease that caused this but they don't know. When in fact I found out years later through my own research she was insulin resistance. That's what caused my kidneys to fail I was pretty overweight and head over a 1200 triglycerides level at 12 years old. Knowing what I ate I can see that. Been eating low carb for years and that was the bullet. And of course I take some great supplements as well :-)
