    I redid my bathroom feeling as had peeling paint (not as bad as yours) I used a range of zinsser products pealstop, fine toutpret for patching, bullseye 123 over whole surface and finally 2 coats of permawhite satin. Good result so far!

    So is the following step correct:
    1. Remove old paint by scraping
    2. Paint with Prime and Sealer
    3. Patch and blend
    4. Sand
    5. Prime and seal again
    6. Paint 1 coat
    7. Paint 2nd Coat
    I did not see you prime again after sanding, just curious. Thanks!

  • @christophephilippe1481

    Great video. Thanks. A quick que please.. After all the prep work is done and you said you would prime and then paint. Well my question is, can you use watered down paint as a primer and then go over with the paint for the second and then final coat? Or does an actual primer have to be used? Thanks kindly

    Hey Bill. Great tutorial on a very common problem. I’ve always used Zinsser BIN in this scenario but based on your video I’d be willing to give the Crommelin Aquablock a go. I did note, though that their doco recommends using their slate sealer on unprimed plasterboard. Have you found Aquablock works fine without this additional step?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  Před 2 lety +4

      Zinsser bin is an awesome product however for this job I would recommend a product like crommelin aqua block. It’s an all in one product which is a sealer, primer, binder, blocks stains and creates a water proof barrier. Perfect for a job like this 👍👍👍

    Hi Bill, I've had some plaster work / square setting where lengths of metal angle have been used on the corners. I can see thru the plaster to the metal and am thinking of using Zinsser Cover Stain an oil based primer / undercoat to avoid the metal rusting, what would you do please.

    • @billshowto
      @billshowto  Před 2 lety

      Hi, the bead should be covered with compound to the extent that you can no longer see the metal. Make sure it’s completely imbedded then you won’t have to worry about an corner bead rusting. Only time it may rust is when it’s exposed to the elements in which case a plastic bead should be used 👍👍👍

    • @TinekeWilliams

      Let it dry and scuff the edges with fine sandpaper and dust. Coat it again and keep doing it until it looks smooth and same colour. Watch you carefully sand the edges each time. Good luck!

    So I started peeling the paint on my bathroom.ceiling thinking it would all just peel off. I peeled off bif pieces but no, it didn't all come off like that
    For two months I left it there wondering how to patch it and what to do. Until I saw this video! With the patching what brand filler do you use? I bought sellys Spakfilla is that ok or do I need another trip to Bunnings. Still scared to try as I haven't done a lot of patching but I can't leave it like that any longer.

    • @billshowto
