Welcome to the community! My advice to new waterfowlers is to enjoy the suck. Sometimes it’s a difficult but rewarding experience, sounds like you have already caught the bug. Keep us updated on progress and happy hunting

@@HunterRoenfeldt I was in the marine corps so I know all about the suck lol I took my 3 yr old daughter out the other week and got my first mallard after just shooting widgens

I definitely need some type of paddle driven boat in my area so much mud that’s dangerous to be in at good spots

Like we said I prefer a canoe over a kayak but it’s all down the personal preference. Kayaks are easier to use as a hide but canoes are big enough you can bring in a hide (like panel blinds). I’d suggest looking for one used until you know what works for you in your area and happy hunting

Id say a good overrated point would be people striving too much for limits/focused on uploading pics of hunt instead of appreciating the moment/ability to have the opportunity w dog, family, friends, internet age of social media we all need 2 step back. I knew canoes/kayaks were going 2 make the list

Success of a hunt is not dependent on birds killed. It definitely helps, but I can remember some very not enjoyable hunts that I still shot a limit and other hunts where I never pulled the trigger and it was a top 5 for the year
