Newbie diy'er here with a mk5 and I just did the thermostat myself, you're not kidding XD Alternator, throttle body piping, tensioner/serp belt and charcoal cannister all off. Then it's still super tight and fiddly with the piping to the thermostat. 200,000km engine and hopefully that never needs to be done again. Loving your mk5 series, learning something new every video. Surprised you don't have a catch can setup. Especially with the amount of crap that these D.I. engines build up and recirculate. They make a substantial difference. I.E. makes a nice one. Good call on the cam follower replacement. One of the only things that I used to see on these cars when I was at the stealership was varying degrees of carnage inside the chain cover. Smashed follower, flat spotted cam lobe, chewed up/ grinding marks inside the cover, etc. Some people hear the noise and just let it go... 😒🙄 The only other things that were notorious to replace at the stealer we're the PCV, manifold as a complete unit, and the purge solenoid. All common failures. Love this project! Keep up the excellent work brother!👍👍💪✌️🙂

APR sells RFD says only on Stage 2+ and up so i kept the flaps. After 70k on the ngk iridium 7's. I got new ones and APR coilpacks noticed improvement! I live near Toronto and id love to dump more 💰 into her!

There is a potential for a lack of airflow, and therefore a small amount of additional fuel, however the fuel trims will take car of this and show so a logging session would most probably identify the cause. Is the overfuelling or just smell of petrol, which could be unburnt fuel from slight misfires which is also common.

I Hope you have to fully fill your Highpressure Pump before start it !!!!

    • @DecimalTenths

We find that we are changing so much of the characteristics of the engine, and increasing torque over the full rpm range, that the flaps then become redundant.
