That Territorial Pissings intro!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hnnnnnngghhh!
Will someone tell Andy, it is mandatory to scream while playing Territorial Pissings?
Didn't realize how much it sounded like a Wipers song until I heard this
@@thejacksaints that tracks because Kurt loved wipers. Every Nirvana record is a different shade of post hardcore and people are just scared to admit it
It took everything in Andy to not laugh at saying the word “pissings”
My love for Andy grows with every frickin video
Damn nailed that Territorial Pissings tone! You are awesome Andy!
Sounds great! Glad my Kinnatone Mischief modded Rat made the cut!
Hey, I noticed on the footer of your website it reads "© 2018 BY KINNNATONE" I am assuming the extra N is a typo
@@binface9 I will have to fix that thanks for the heads up.
which one of your mods is used here?
I have a Kinnatone modded Rat. It's loaded with extra features and is very versatile. The germanium setting on it sounds great and gets used in that position a lot.
@@Gutch220 this ones just the Mischief 3x3 Rat www Kinnatone.com
Man you can make anything sound awesome! Great playing
Just got mine yesterday! Love this thing!
That direct tone with the Rat & the Jazzmaster sounds a lot like Homme’s lead tone in Fairweather Friends, which is (dare I say) my favorite guitar tone of all-time. Nice work, Mr. Martin.
YES I AM NOT ALONE!!!!
Closely matched by the solo tone in ...Like Clockwork, which was supposedly a fully cranked tiny Gorilla amp!
Clem West Yeah he’s famous for those Gorilla amps. His tone is unbelievable. That fuzzy lead tone on Fairweather Friends is otherworldly. It’s like lightning.
He was playing QOTSA
Collin Wisniewski No dude, that was Territorial Pissings by Nirvana.
Best bends for Another Brick in the Wall! You nailed it! Beautiful tones :)
I'm caught between not breathing and simple tears. This is one of your best demos ever!!
As always, Andy - incredible. And them thar pedals was perty cool.
This is a great video! More of these please.
Amazing production and song choice!
Epic as usual Andy!😍❤😍❤😍❤
Another awesome video by reverb!
The finish on that guitar is fantastic 👌
NICE DEMO!!!
Literally the 1st thing that popped into my head when I saw this pedal was... "I wonder how it would go with a cali76"
So when you bust it out that Unit67 at the end... I was like OH DANG!!!
Chimney isn't usually what I'm after... I just like my cleans to be extra clean!
Most excellent demo.
Bet this pedal will be there in the top pedals for 2019 from Andy
A Fool For Your Stockings was probably the first electric guitar tune I learned to play. Played it on a cheap *acoustic* for years before getting my first electric. :)
great clean tones
Pretty cool-just such insight into recording. I echo some comments below, the Thorpy and the JHS are quite a price-but but the “Stockings” track is just killer. Thanks Andy.
Great sounds
This is the sickest thing ever!
My home recording setup is based around the Colour Box V2, Deco, and OB.1 and I always get compliments on my sound. I love that we are getting studio quality pedals to compete with all in-the-box setups. Now I just need to get a good U67 style mic--Warm Audio maybe...
i LOVE recording multiple line in tracks, like pre and post amp stack here.
awesome tip, if i pick one up that's how i'll use it, even for running samples through it, etc.
Andy, the true legend
On fire! 💥
That one ZZ album, the one with "Blue Jean Blues" was chock full of really cool direct tones.
3:17 Andy puts Heart and Soul into all his demos ;-)
Thanks for the insight and examples. The colour box can be used without an amp at all if you are travelling with its two on board transformers and built in OD so that would be: guitar - box - laptop - headphones potentially if you wanted to work on something in a bedroom / hotel. Live it could go straight to the PA potentially. And version two has options for acoustic guitar and vocals (XLR output with passive power) so although expensive, it is flexible and much more than a direct in to (Neve) studio console effect.
That last one is interesting for me as I've used various pedals on my son's rig to boost his acoustic and vocals - even putting an Ibanez TS9 before his Martin to boost the cleans for a busy bar, with just a touch of bite in it. We resort to a Shure Beta 58A and a portable PA to avoid distortion pushing the volume for vocals. It would be interesting to see if the Colourbox could help with this and from the demos I have seen it looks like it will round out the tones for a fuller recording sound also (both the acoustic and mic again).
He plays electric as well, loves the Beatles so that Revolution sound would seal the deal :)
End of the line, huh? Nice little nod to another classic at the end there :)
I love that nirvana song! Great inspiration for this video!
Bit of a tip to Frank Z tone as well in A Fool For Your Stockings, lovely sound Andy.
i came to check out the JHS vs something like a golden age 73 premiere, but I liked the rest of the stuff! that thorpy compressor is so nice and quiet, the playing is really sublime, and you nail that Roger McGuinn sound... i might just look up the cost of that reverend 12 string :)
3:12 The sound of Hüsker Dü
Andy never brings a shabby guitar to the Tone Report™️
There is Andys clean tone🤗
When i was an alieeeeennnnn.........
Thanks for the great video. I know you have both an amp and direct sound going on some of these examples. But was the amp sound recorded with a microphone or did you use the "direct" out of the amp?
Kinnatone baby!!! ; ^)
Damn, that Ultra Jazzmaster is really intriguing me.
Yeah, I noticed that it was one of the new Ultra models too. Looked and sounded great!
I love that metallic sunburst!
Anybody know what Beck used for the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack? Definitely sounds like a small amp or direct in to the mixing desk and overdriven preamp. Hearing that soundtrack got me interested in the colour box. Not sure if it does that type of thing.
Good LORD that Gilmour tone though. Shiverin' over here.
I own the Colour Box v1 and have used it a ton on guitar, bass, and mono analog synths. Don't know if I'd spring for V2 for extra features just yet but it looks great.
I’m already sold on this pedal but Andy just proves my point.
*GREAT SONG CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Andy the CEO of guitar pedals
A fool for your stockings...sweet!
Andy what is the PRS looking guitar you play in some videos? It has trapezoid inlays? The one in the mad professor old school 21?
The dual outs made it sound so expansive.
Can you help me understand, so one signal goes to the amp and the other xlr goes to which interface?
@@user-wf4nl2yy8x Essentially, yes - it means there's two differing interpretations of the guitar signal at the same time.
@@josephpickard3108 I see, and which interface is the other signal going into? Is it the mixer?
@@user-wf4nl2yy8x I think Andy used Universal Audio Apollo, but plug the xlr into any recording device.
I to mix and play music through my iPhone and adjust the levels of things using my pedals. This pedal would make me geek out more I think.
Please Record a DI bass guitar video using the colour box!
Territorial Andy! Lost my shiz! Xxxxxxxxx
If Andy's having fun, I'm having fun.
sounds great....was that a bit of Heart and Soul by Huey and thew News at the end of the Rat explanation? Does your Jazzmaster have a Mastery bridge? You're hitting it pretty hard....I always knock the strings off when I get Aggro with a JM..also i'd be curious to know why you picked the Reverend 12? I'm sure you have ALOT of 12 strings to choose from! Why that one?
poshskiffle I’m so glad you mentioned that. I recognized that nifty little riff but couldn’t place it.
@@HVLmusic glad it helped! That song was actually written by Chinn and Chapman who are known for writing Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet. The News was a GREAT band!
Fuck - that intro was sick
Sounds great. Have you already featured a demo of the Kinnatone modded Rat 2 in another video?
Particularly that Deluxe. Is that one of your Dad's builds?
binface9 Not yet, I just got it and plan demoing soon. Yes the Deluxe is a Redtail build about 15yrs ago, thanks!
so how exactly do you get the Amp/DIrect Mix for Another Brick In The Wall. is that using the FX loop somehow?
Key piece there, I think, was all the compression.
so can this be used as a regular eq pedal as well? sorry if thats a stupid question
I think Ernie Isley went straight in (post fx) on Who's that Lady?
Dropped Jaw!...AFTER doing a deep analysis of the videos&audio from Andy and discovering he uses PLAYBACK from an AI robot and that it uses outgunning. Gosh, what a level!!!. Humm. (Is it there an app that don't let you comment on youtube when you caught a cold?)
"Heart and Soul" by Huey Lewis and the News will forever be a certified hood classic.
no
great take on a great pink Floyd tune.
❤️❤️❤️ 💙💙💙 💙💙💙
Which Kinnatone Mod is on the Rat?
Bro...WHAT is that Jazzmaster it looks ridiculously cool
New fender ultra
😎😎
What's effect cable brand?
So,how do mini hums differ, in sound, from p90s? Anyone who has played both, please . PS, this new colorbox is pretty cool!
but does it do the JC clean?
MOAR twelve string tunes! Nice!
Hey, What’s the release date???
Damn.......
how do you combine amp and direct mix together?
The Colour Box has a direct out and a line out.
That jhs reminds me of that crayon pedal
Josh is God
Would you use this pedal in the beginning of the circuit or rather in the end?
I will play it with P-bass, with Origin compressor, fuzz war, fuzz machine and some chorus probably.
I want to split the signal to amp and direct, too. So I was thinking about having direct signal clean (before fuzzes). What do you reckon ppl?
At the end, like he's using here. It's meant to emulate the sound of going directly into the mixing board.
Was that George Harrison at the end? Decent!
You play Nirvana, you're ok with me
Andy's got a cold....
Not much love for bass guitar on the Colour Box. Shame too, because bass sounds great on the 500 series version. (Underwelming on version one of the pedal tho)
Help! 3:17 what is he playing? It’s killing me
Got it....Heart and Soul
Andy gots a cold, bruh. Be well, Shreddy Martin!
Did the compressor go in front of the colorbox or after?
Michael Yuhl The JHS was always last in the chain because I used the XLR output to plug into the UA interface.
AndyDemos thank you
To be honest I hate the sound of a guitar DI. It sounds like strumming an unamplified guitar except when it clips out.
'All I need ... is just another pick from my wallet'! (Sung to 'The Wall' by ... well ... you know!). Thanks Andy!
Anybody out there who has used this to improve an amp that doesn’t take pedals well?
Deep cuts for the intro!
god dammit Andy use a guitar pick
Why? He is on another level without a pick
should be Asus4 F Dsus4 wth the third finger holdng down the adg strings, all Nevermind is played that way, childlike and chiming. Cool vids though
why he kinda look like weird al tho. Ham i right?
Let's be real, Andy is a better guitarist than Kurt Cobain haha
Sure but let’s see his albums of original material to compare.
WHEN I WAS AN ALIEN! CULTURES WEREN’ OPINIONS!
clean would be nice to hear first,,,,,,
Nice pedal....but that intro!
I'll bet most of this tone actually comes from the OX and it's plugins.
it's a bit phasy - should've delayed the direct signal
This is a smallo complaint, but Cobain sings the major third in the verse melody of "Territorial Pissings." You played a minor third.
rome8180 gotta beat those algorithms somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Minor is sadder.
Andy you got a lil cold? sound a lil stuffy. sorry m8.
