This is def the demo I wanted to see for this box & you guys nailed it. Your boy can sing
Wow!...this is a MUST have tool. Everything sounds amazing through it
That dude just stole my heart! lol Awesome vid!
this is the best demo period
That keyboard riff tho.....great vid
My gosh... Talk about tone. Just discovering the versatility of those pedal and it sounds so good!
i love what it does to vocals.
That hi-pass is so natural sounding, nice job
What an amazing voice.
Thanks
Incredible on vocals... I want one
The cleans sound freaking fantastic; completely sold me on this pedal as a fairly low-cost pre-amp solution.
...but God DAMMIT, do I hate saturated vocals! It always sounds really freaking cheap to me; like some kid shouting over his Xbox Live headset about how he fucked my mum last night.
Lmfaoooooo!!!
hahahahahahahaha
Contender for funniest comment ever ... LMFAO
The Strokes pull it off
There's often truth in humor.
Bone to pick, every time they engage the pedal they start with the HPF frequency up and then lower it. So, for a moment everything sounds super thin and then it suddenly swells into life as you lower the f of the HPF. Colors the comparison a fair bit.
Yeah I was thinking that the whole time. Wish they would have turned the pedal on and off a bunch of times while making different adjustments
It´s kind of funny...I LOVE this pedal on literally everything but guitar!
What a great keyboard sound.
Very helpful JHS CB tutorial👍😊🌞
Glad it was helpful!
Nik Bays is apparently boss! Great voice.. Nice demo.. Colourbox is proper!
Best music in a review to date. Holy shit…pedal is great too 😂
Is this SM7B plugged straight in the pedal or is there additional pre-amplifiing?
A great question, I'm thinking, since they run it bypassed, that they've got this being pre-amped elsewhere and the box is running like an effect in between. Maybe it can act as a bit of a cloud lifter with color options. Its had real mixed reviews, I used to be dead set on getting this with an SM7b but tech changes have altered everything now. You can get a real 1073 pre for the price of this thing, its a really hard buy. The EQ is a real benefit, especially for the SM7b, but its hard to pull the trigger on.
How did you connect the reverb tank? Is there an effects loop in this or how you did that? How was it only active when the colour box was active (with footswitch)?
this is like a Neve pre in a box... of course its great
Great demo. Thanks.
Great demo!
Why would you put bass on the right?
Maybe because the eq in the voice is mid. It’s more clean for the layman to listen to if the bass isn’t in both cups.
What was the signal chain for the clean with reverb tank, Sm7b into the colour box, 1/4 out into the fender? Then into an interface, with a parallel xlr from the colour box without verb?
Well it sounds great but I can buy a real Warm Audio Preamp for this price! Why is everything JHS so expensive? Would this really be worth it over an actual entry level pro preamp? I'd love to see a WA12 and a Golden Age Pre-73 (Mark I-III) go against this. All are about the same price.
it is cause the Lundahl transformer, that´s a very costly transformer, i own this box and it sound awesome. either it is easy to pass to a bad territory with the seetings
This pedal is just too versatile to pass up
Mitch Baker your helix comparisons really helped me! Funny seeing your 3yr old comment in this video!
sold
Are you guys using the cloud lifter on the shure?
Please answer
Fantastic, thank you for ending with keys. Anyone try the pedal with a synth?
Great voice! This pedal seems endless in flexibility.....
I’ve got version two and vocal I am anxious to try
I love it!! Now I can bypass certain sound techs!
I don't think you pay sound techs for mere gear.
Is the hum is coming from his guitar rig or from the colour box?
HOLY SHIT
An SM7B using a mic pre which only provides 39db gain? Was there a second gain stage in the vocal chain? We're ordering one of these boxes. Love what it sounds like on a drum buss. Neve consoles used Carnhill transformers, not Lundahl but, anybody with even a little bit of experience should understand, you cannot put a Neve console into a stomp box, the implication is a bit insane.Want Neve? Buy Neve. The Color Box is an awesome creative tool though, it's much more than simply a high-dollar fuzz box but, we'll stick with our BAE 1023's when, we want Neve type sound. Great box, love it JHS.
Is it work well with ribbon mic on vocals?
Awesome. People don't understand that this is more than some overdrive pedal for guitar.
It says Nick Bay.
Who was that singer? Also that piano melody was sick.
***** Thank you but who was that singer or do you think he was just local ?
His name is Nick Bays, singer of the Chicago based rick band Tall Walker ;)
Very cool his singing is excellent especially with reverb. Dose Tall Walkers have anything on iTunes or any music site like that ?
Tall Walker is on iTunes and spotify
Okay I'll have to check it out I always love finding new band to get into thanks.
How close would a guitar sansamp get to this?
Probably 10 times better
Does this have phantom power for mics?
+R.D. Dragon No, you need a separate power source.
Anyone know what mic was being used for the vocals?
Shure SM7B
shnobel Thank you!
What model keyboard is this?
Anyone know what brand that keyboard was?
Looks to be a Nord Electro.
Nic3.
Whats the name of the song he sings?
"Stay" from Tall Walker's EP

Yeah... Once I saw prices on these... :(( But do you know what keyboards have similar sounds? I mean I can't really explain. It's the specific Tone almost belllike when you roll-off a tone knob on guitar. Almost like lo-fi ring. If you know what I'm saying.
Is there a similar pedal to this that wasn't created by a psycho company?
QueeferSutherland so many psychos around. Hard to buy anything not psychopathic.
I'm tired of looking at bare light bulbs.
Seems like a fun toy but the price point is way off.
Anyone else find his voice annoying?
