I like to what you are doing to this rear end. Major improvement. You can kill that music though!
Nice stuff uncle hawks!
bad ass!!!
hopefully by the end of this year I'll be ordering one for my fbody.
Same here man
+Austin Orsini what gears you have plan to do ?
I'm a 6 speed. idk if 355s or 373s. I'm more of a street car then track car.
+SRfastZ I'd honestly go with the 3:73s out of the 2. That's generally an "all around" good gear. That's most likely what I'm going with too.
+Austin Orsini I think I am.
I see you crackhead
Cool, so you could run a 4.10:1 with a Detroit Locker... ;-)
Well, the finished product is a thing of beauty no doubt. but that's a hell of a lot of heat put into the rear especially for the torque arm mount. I've got to wonder about warpage as a result.
Begs the question what steps are taken to control or correct it?
We build these in house and have shipped over 100 of them just this year, the trick to not warping the housing is to pre-heat the cast center then move around to prevent warpage.
basicly this is a video of a guy mig welding a rear end
Does the 8.8 sit more to the right meaning drive shaft is off center more towards passenger side?? I recently got one and drive shaft real close to passenger side
If it’s a stock ford rear, yes, one axle is longer than another, but if it’s been modified for an f-body, it shouldn’t be
@@zerohourdrift well no wonder why mine is off
Why do the 82-92 require the LT1 brakes?
thats what im wondering too
Is it as quiet as a 10 bolt and good for daily driving?
As long as you follow their break in procedure yes
Anyone have one and could fill me in on if these are worth it and what gear setup they chose? Thinking of putting one in my 400hp 92 rs
If you are really pushing 400 hp you better get a new rearend with after market sub frame connectors and lower control arms.
I didnt on my 85 iroc after i put a 350 4bolt main 30 over 10.5 flat top pistions 495 lift roller rocker cam set up and all the rest of the good stuff.
Well i dint even take a few weeks and i blew out the stock rearend.Had new richmond after market gears put in and the tech wasnt able to get the perfect mesh so there was just a very little bit of a whine.
Well them gears lasted about a month.I was so made i went back to the place where i had them installed and insisted they replace em for free. This time the tech and the tech foreman and myself installed a new set of gears and coulndnt get the gears to mesh.Upon further inspection we noticed that the pight side of the axle had a twist/bend and the tork arm that connects from the tranny to rearend was twisted also
So yes if your going to have some tires that hook up well do the modifications.
3:73 gears if your keeping or have the 700R4 tranmission
They start at $2,095 and go up from there depending on the options you select.
Can it be used for a Chevy 350, or only for ls engines
We offer this 8.8 rear end for all 82-02 f-bodies
How much?
I have a 97 3.8 v6 firebird what rear end should I get that is the best
Ace Gotcha Gaming Tips a v6 firebird wont need a rear end this beefed up unless you start putting out more power with the engine a stock 10 bolt should last you longer than youll probably have the car if i were you i would rebuild yours or swap it for a good one out of a donor car
In All honestly, unless it's turboed; pretty hard probably not needed. I would spend the money on a power adder. This rear axle is for cars that are in danger or have broken the stock 7" 10 bolt. it doesn;t add any power or make your car faster by itself. It's an upgrade for strength.
Yes you could do some major improvements to a v6 firebird with the 3 grand this would cost
Our 8.8 rear ends are the best on the market hands down!
Ace Gotcha Gaming Tips sell your car use the money you are going to spend on a rear end on a V8🤷🏾♂️
how much does this 8.8 weigh?
The 8.8 rear end is roughly 200lbs without brakes
If I upgrade my 01 Z28 rear end , what should I go with? It's an automatic.
This is a strong enough option for slicks thru an auto
Priced to high.
I build my own or buy it somewhere reasonable.
Shame such a good product is killed by greed, same thing with the LS swap pkgs.
As a Gm 7 time f body ownership you make a good point alot of companies are greedy. But this company actually does great work also
🙄🙄 so simple minded.
I wouldnt make you one for 2 grand Ill tell you that. Maybe 4, but still not making alot of money at 4 grand.

Lmfao.
A guy on FB does them for $1100-1300 but that doesn't include setting up the gears and installing everything.
Couldn't stand the noise, sorry.
in my case it would be third world engineering. nothing about my parts would be close to true and my welder is older than me and sounds more like a fax machine than a welder
Stupid music kept me from watching!!!
Bought one of these and ended up being defective and hawks waited almost a year to get back to me just to tell me they aint going to warranty it out like bruh so much for the $5500 i spent on this POS after installation but tbh i should have went with quick performance, basically got scammed i guess 🙃 ps they built and shipped it to me for my 500hp+ firebird trans am build very disappointed in hawks...
What happened to it? What failed? Yes they are cocky non responsive jerks after they get your money.
