Nice! Been wanting to do this since back in 05'. But now after letting the car sit almost a decade ever since I trashed 3rd gear when I bent a shift fork. But recently getting her back to glory. I've accumulated garage full of parts over the years. I even pieced together almost complete budget turbo kit. I got a deal on 04' ls6 new gapped rings lifters trunnions. I set aside the 243s and stock cam using 317s ls9 gaskets with a .600 .600 232/234 112 Pac1219s a 78/75 .96ar and I'm leaving it stick but i gonna run a tremec from a GTO its got the 2.97 zo6 gears and triple cone syncros. I'm know my build isn't the best options and with around 8.4to1cr probably will be doggy as hell when outta boost.
I went to a metal store, there is one up the road from my house called Metal Depot. I bought a bar long enough to fit through complete rear end (6' feet or 72" inches long) that was 1.5" inches in diameter (was about $100). I then took that bar, my axle and carrier bearing races to a machine shop and they made pucks for me. I also took my F-body axles and the 8.8 pumpkin so the machine shop could make a sleeve to attach the F-body tubes to the 8.8 pumpkin. You can buy the pucks online but they are quite pricey but here are some links if you want to buy online. Do you have a link for the “pucks” you used to align everything?
