      @@Lacroix999 Don’t be naive. It is work and that’s why we get paid to do it. If it was *fun* I’d be paying someone to get to do it.

      This ceo with the 4 months off a year has not a clue what it is like to only get 2 weeks off and not have any money to do anything.

    • @Lacroix999
      @Lacroix999 Před rokem +3

      @@darcymoon2109 everyone have a different definition as to what “fun” means. Some people love to crunch numbers, others cringe at the thought of having to do taxes even once per year or budget once a month. There’s always going to be some level of grunge work even when running your own business of your preferred choosing even one where it truly is your life’s passion doing so. That’s just life and we need to trudge through it to get it done…or pay someone else to do so, but even then you have to work to make money to pay to outsource that task either way. So you can either suck it up and just do it, or suck up doing something else to make money to do so-your pick. So yes, while you’re not going to love 100% of your job 100% of the time, you CAN choose to do so you love and either way, your job choice is just that-a CHOICE and you can choose where you want to work at, whether you want to work, your chosen career path, whether to start your own business instead of doing so, but yes, you DO get to choose what you want to do. You can choose a sucky job, or one you love. And just because you love your job, doesn’t mean everyone around you does/will as well, same goes for your neighbors/friends/family because we all do have different interests in life. That’s not called being naïve, that’s called being realistic, having logic and sensible because that’s the truth of it all. If you love what you do, you can look past the crap load part of it and it wears thinner on those who already hate/dislike/don’t care for what they’re doing. Ultimately, you get to choose how bad it sucks for you either way. It is a matter of perspective. You get to choose whether you want walk into work with a mentality of wanting to punch the next 8yr who walks in the door in the face or you can get over your issues and treat it like it is-a job you’re getting paid to do and smile and be polite or you can actually find something you do love about your workplace/employees/clients/environment/etc or you can choose to find a new job somewhere else that suits your passions a lot better. No one is forcing you to love your job or even making you go every day except yourself! Life’s too short to stay somewhere you hate if you’re horribly miserable. That’s not ‘privilege’ when everyone on this planet has that same option to make that choice and the only one hold you back hating on that job you’re forcing yourself to stay at that you hate so much-expect yourself! But, yes, there ARE people out there who do love their jobs and are living their dreams out to the fullest! The sad part about all of this is that you there are people out there who think they can’t do the same because they’re brainwashed into thinking that doing so is “naïve”. There’s sucky parts in life everywhere you look and have to deal with that as well. It won’t be 100% peachy keen all the time, but that is just how life goes for anything. If you have kids, you may love them to death but hate changing diapers. You want and love your car, but hate having to pay to fill it up and maintain it. You want a spouse, but don’t always 100% agree with them and need to learn to navigate around communication to get your needs met. You choose to stay single and maybe you have times where you get lonely. You need to eat 3x a day, but maybe you hate cooking. You love the idea of owning your own home, but hate that you have to call a plumber to fix the leaky pipe…..the list goes on and on. Same goes for life circumstances, not just at your job/career. That doesn’t mean you can’t make those choices and still want those things. If we didn’t care about anything unless we were 100% satisfied all the way around, we wouldn’t ever do/have/be anything in life ever because life doesn’t work that way.
      There ARE “fun” careers out there that people DO get paid to do-that IS obviously assuming that you DO love what you’re doing. My oldest aspires to work at LEGO one day and I’m living my dream career in as an artist painting. While he doesn’t work there now, you can’t tell me that a company like LEGO got to where it is today because they don’t have fun there and there aren’t people who want to join them in their mission to bring fun and happiness to the world for others. So, yes, so you can get paid to have a fun job you do love. I’m proof of that! Work/jobs do not necessarily have to equate to laborious and drudgery! Those are, for the most part, arbitrary standards we put on ourselves. If that’s what you believe, I feel sorry for you that you never aspired to do better for yourself. Life’s to short to ‘have’ to do something you hate for so much time of your life for so long!

      It's all a matter of perspective. Once you start appreciating what you regardless of your problems always remember your life is many other people's dreams. Once you get in that mindset everything new is a blessing. If it happens it's great and if not you are already happy.
      Jobs may not always be exciting but they pay the bill, what you do outside of the job of during your breaks could be exciting or working hard to save up for vacation could be exciting.

    First and foremost: this show sounds 90% scripted. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the people are actors and dont actually work for the company. In realtiy, most episodes would just be people doing their work as they are expected to, they would definitely hold back any negative energy knowing there is a TV team around and guess what: not everyone has an interesting backstory.
    But aside the fact its a written script: the way he feels and works is just fine for a low paying job. We go to work to afford a life, we dont live to go to work. I personally like my job, but i dont give a shit about my CEOs visions. I want the time and resources i need to deliver my best, but i dont care if i like or dislike our products, visions, etc. Im there to do a job, not to join a religion. As long as we are not talking some inhumane company like nestle, im there to trade my skills and time for a paycheck.

    You want them to be enthusiastic? Pay them more. Not an average wage, an above average wage for this sort of job, that's what turns a poor employee into a grateful one, if you know you're getting paid well for the position you're in, you appreciate the work more and give better customer service, which means happier customers. Yeah, working for nothing for someone else's suit and tie - that's exactly the "career" this young man had in mind. Its too bad (for him) he said something not perfectly PC on the job. Kids (and adults) in retail as a customer can be monsters sometimes (as well as awesome) humans. I'm soooo glad Blaze said, "this is a paycheck ", that worker has his priorities straight, and he's honest. The CEO is enjoying flexing his perceived power and watching someone squirm, and thinking he's important. He may actually be, but coming off that way is not anyone I'd work for - or rather WITH. Respect is a two-way street and much better for business. Yes, we have kids so they'll grow up and have careers at the McDonald's of Candle shops - NOT! Please, Mr. CEO I'd be stoked you had an honest person there trying to cope with awful people. Some 8 year olds act poorly, its Blaze that didn't ACT poorly. That's maturity. I hope Blaze's next "boss" is a kinder, less condescending human. Blaze, get out the there, you can do SOO much better, with half your brain tied behind your back - all day. And I recommend you not work somewhere that you are forced to deal with icky people (and keep smiling because you don't count). Yankee candle is wayyy beneath you. And that likely won't change with just a conversation. And to that point I get where he said it's just a paycheck. I don't think it's necessary to be passionate about your job to carry it out, though it helps.
      Also to the point of employees not opening up to managers I think it's a task that requires both sides to create an environment for transparency and openness. I was lucky enough to have managers that encouraged such traits, which gave me the confidence to share. And to your point it helped all of us improve professionally and improved our morale
