Here in the UK, if a lift enters nudge mode, then fails to completely close its doors in a specific time period, it throws an error and goes out of service until someone calls it.

I almost wonder if the controller makes the elevator do that since the sensors are broken, therefore enabling nudge mode to close the doors quicker otherwise they would stay open forever.

i’m fine, also nudge mode (on modern elevators like this one) it is code to have the door sensors work, also on thyssenkrupps the doors should just stop moving once it nudges

I know very well where these are, I work at a restaurant in the landing. The last time I rode one of these, it sounded pretty rough.

It's Called Nudge mode. Nudge Mode is when an elevators doors have been open for too long and the elevator (To improve efficiency) Closes its doors Forcefully.
@@robloxhibom9548 Most likely because the door sensors are broken. Since it can't detect if your arm, leg, or body is in between the doors, it falls back to "nudging" them closed, and yelling at you. As long as the doors don't fully close, the elevator won't move.
@@RtaincCoparticularly correct, but the door sensors aren’t broken. When going into nudge mode, the door sensors get disabled, not broken.

Nudge is supposed to disable the door sensors.
@@firealarmtechguy4444 What I'm saying is that the doors should've stopped when he put his arm in. They don't need to re-open, but they should've at least stopped closing and only continued when he pulled his arm out. Simply allowing his arm to be squashed like that by disabling the sensors completely is a bad move.

@@EvergreenElevators The GAL MOVFR II has a 1/2HP Motor and the OTIS QL and I-MOTION Operators have 1/6HP Motor. They do hurt. I haven't tried it but I think it could possibly break my arm lol.
