So that’s what it’s called I just though it was the elevator getting pissed off i work in a airport and it’s so annoying when I hear that sound. It’s now just my life. Once we disabled it and it just made my day

In nudge mode the motor is very low powered nobody will get crushed unless they have stage 10 terminal osteoporosis. It will, however, scare most people into getting out of the way.

I was wondering why an elevator tried to crush my brother when he stood in the door to keep it open. It eventually re opended, but it really pushed hard.
Busier elevators often have more time before nudge mode starts. This is so all the people have time to enter/exit and nudge mode doesn't start every time people use the elevator.
So I was once at a hotel, with a bank of 2 Schindler HTs. I was holding the elevator door for people, but so many people were getting in that the elevator went into nudge mode. And then, some karen in the elevator blamed me on breaking the elevator and told the front desk, but I didn’t get in trouble at all, I just went back to my room before anything bad happened

I swear, the campus I go to has all of these elevator kinds. Well, a good part of them at least. We got some Otis ones, a couple Dovers, a Dover Impulse, a Schindler 330A, pretty sure we got a Westinghouse given that indicator inside is over the door, even a KONE series 220. All that place needs is a ThessenKrupp, and there you go lol

they modernized the freight elevators where I used to work and removed the stop run switch. I don't know why they would ever have nudge mode on a freight elevator but we would have to jam a 2x4 in the doorway and try to get the cards or pallet jacks over it while listening to the alarm and door try to close over and over again.

Too bad you didn't try Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi's nudge mode buzz are freakin' awesome especially on their newer elevators.
Albert .J Yes, and Mitsubishi's nudge mode voice will only work if the elevator has at least an AAN-B feature (or a door close chime)

That can reopen the door by the sensor, door open button, or floor button, even during a nudge mode.

@@Seppen552 No, only on Schindlers and (possibly) certain elevators, on others they don't respond to either of those.

The elevator at a resort hotel my family and I go to every summer does this when the elevator wants to go to another floor

Nudge mode with a buzz is very annoying

OMG, an elevator did this to me and my bff, and we took the stairs because we thought the Elevator door was broken, NOT KNOWING it was nudge mode!
I’m curious if the door pressure sensor is still enabled (in case someone who is deaf was standing in between the doors and the person gets crushed by the door)
No,they aren't.(mostly)You would just get kinda hugged by the doors.They won't apply enough force to kill you or something

AsianJBlazian The elevator wouldn’t move if both interlocks weren’t closed, therefore you wouldn’t get crushed.

Hey, is it common in specific areas? In Poland every elevator has got it disabled, even in high traffic buildings. You can hold the sensor for minutes. Imo the best one is at 1:28. I've always thought that mode exists only in games etc to be honest :D

The elevator at the factory in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania does nudge but the buzzer. You know how the elevator goes buzz, it’s broken. What we could do is stop for hours and get it fixed. I told them that the audience can buzz for it. Now I don’t want this to be disorganized buzzing. Let me all hear you do it once, go for it. (Audience buzzing) Nice. Now when the elevator starts nudging, you start buzzing. Here we go.

Nudge mode is a special mode that has too many attempts to close
A nudge always needs a buzzer sound So what causes nudge mode is these two things: Standing between the door for too long,when elevator open and close button gets on 2 times samely.

If you caught one with an Acme indicator it shows your floor than after 0.75 seconds it says ND
It depends on the brand that uses the acme. Otis will flash the number, TKE will leave the numbers blank, and generic elevators will alternate between floor number and nd

Otis nudge mode buzzer is exactly the same as Dover/Thyssenkrupp impulse uses thyssenkrupp vandal resistant traditional classic auora and singal floors and on their floor passing sound fire service and nudge mode and simplex annunciators fire alarm panels on 4001 4002 and 4100 standard.😁😀

This happend to me once.... I was kinda scared so I pulled the door open so I can get out... The only difference was that it closed very very slow and just stopped. But when I looked back at it the doors finally closed.

our old city center elevator is never being repaired or anything. gets stuck once ina while and they rescue the people then just put it back into service. it doesnt have nudge mode, i found out by placing a balloon inbetween the doors, but then later i decided to put a milkshake in there, and for some reason it crushed it in the middle of the doors and then when going up crushed it again between the cab and the lower floor but kept going. the milkshake was dripping down the entire shaft and i freaked out.

I don’t think nudge mode should be allowed. What if you were in a huge elavator, and people just kept coming in, and coming in, what if someone’s keg got traped becuase they ran to get in?
