Fire Service/Independent Service Demonstration On An OTIS Series 1 Hydraulic Elevator

In this video, I demonstrate two special elevator modes: Fire Service and Independent Service. For different elevator companies, the process is slightly different, but the purpose always remains the same. In this video, I demonstrate these modes on an OTIS Series 1. Fire Service is used by firefighters and allows them to use the elevator during a fire. The normal functions of the elevator are slightly altered during this mode. Independent service is normally used in service elevators or more commonly tourist attractions to move large groups of people without stopping. It disables all of the call buttons so the elevator will not stop at any floor to answer any calls. The elevator will go directly to the floor you desired.

Both of these modes are to be used by authorized personnel only with the exception of permission. Yes, I got permission and to specifically do these demonstrations at night during off-peak hours. This video is for demonstration purposes only.

Some states use only one specific key for fire service. It doesn't matter what brand the elevator is, all elevators will use a specific key for fire service in some states. That makes it more convenient.

You also forgot to showcase that if you press call cancel while the elevator is moving, it'll stop at the next available floor. No biggie though, just thought worth mentioning.
