What China is most praised now is not the appearance of China's existing technology and economy. But we have passed down the Chinese civilization of 5,000 years. One of China’s five thousand years of cultural enrichment is “和(he)”.

Explain: In China, Class D and G trains are all high-speed trains. But class D running at speed of 200-250 km/h. The G-class train running at speeds of 300-350 km/h.
Darn it!
D train 250 km/hr
His comment is misleading. D trains and G trains are both categorized as high speed railway trains. The difference is the d trains' speed is limited to 250km/h max while the g trains can reach up to 380km/h
The reason these trains aren't as nice is because it's a D train. The nicer trains are G class trains.
Yeah! I actually explained this, but we didn't put it in the vlog as I wasn't that clear and it was quite noisy! The G class trains are great! 😀
@@RobandJenny D means decent, G means Great, so you know..
@@pangrui945 no....g and d are abbreviation of two technical terms in chinese.......g stands for gaotie(high speed electric multiple units)....d stands for dongche(electric multiple units)
@@pangrui945 Really good interpreting, well done, sir:)
@@pangrui945 D means Dongche (200-250km/h), G means Gaotie (300-350km/h)
My wife and I begin a 19 day journey to China in five days. We start in Beijing. The first two days we'll be on our own before joining our tour. Besides the usual Beijing attractions, we'll fly to Xi'an for four days before taking the high speed train to Chengdu where we will spend two nights before flying to Lhasa, Tibet where we will spend three nights before flying to Chonqing for a three night cruise on the Yangtze River. We then fly to Shanghai where we will spend the last two nights before the long journey home to Orlando, FL. The two of us are actually looking forward to the high speed train because it will give us a chance to at least view a good bit of the countryside. When I think of China with 1.3 billion people I often wonder how crowded it must be, but as so many videos attest; there remains quite a bit of space for agriculture and so forth. Thank you both for taking the time to make this video!
Thanks for the comment! Sounds like you have a great itinerary ahead of you! 👍
You are right, China still had a lot of open green beauty. It's really nice! 😀

00:47 Hongqiao is actually an airport and used to be the only international airport in Shanghai before Pudong Airport was in service. Now it serves as a regional hub for mainly domestic flights. The reason the train station is built in Hongqiao is because it can facilitate faster transfer between domestic flights/trains.
Thank you for loving China! Enjoy your journey. 😃
Thank you so much! Our journey was brilliant!! 😃😃

we are doing something similar in a couple of weeks but to Beijing so this was super helpful! We are watching your video series to prep for this! You guys put so much detail here and we love it!
So happy you're finding it helpful! A journey to Beijing shouldn't take so long so hopefully you'll be a little more comfortable. 😅
The fastest from Shanghai to Beijing is 4 hour 18 minutes. Also the train is newer and faster at 350km per hour.
Explain: The D series fast train can both run on common track with small stones and high-speed track without small stones, it's 200-250km/h speed, its price is cheaper. The G series high-speed train can only run on the high-speed track for the safety reason, to avoid the small stones hit the train during high-speed running, it's 300-350km/h speed. Both of these 2 series trains the windows are installed the decelerating glass.
Thank you! I am a hillbilly Hong Kong Chinese currently live in Canada who left Shanghai when I was 3 years old but can still speak Shanghainese fluently! I hope I can visit the city I was born before I pass on! Best to you all!

Next time when you travel in China's HSR, try to order KFC or McD via your mobile phone if time allows. It will be delivered to your seat at one of the enroute station.

Hello I just uploaded my vlog to Beijing lol. Any support would mean so much to me. Thank you!!
The trains in China were so nice! I used to take them all the time when I lived there. Never made it to Chengdu. Definitely need to get there someday!
They are so convenient! Chengdu was awesome, especially the pandas!

@@RobandJenny Actually, there are l lot of scenes aruound Chengdu.

I've been to Chengdu a couple of times and it's famous for the Panda Park where they breed and study Pandas. There is the Poets Park & Commercial Lane to visit & the Old Market Garden, then out of town the Great Mountain BUDDA and the very ancient city of Sanxindui that is supposed to be over 5.000yrs old. It's a very interesting place.
Thanks for your comment and for watching!! 😀
Love Chengdu so much

Although I have traveled to Shanghai so many times with the high speed railway, I just realized that I haven’t viewed the Hongqiao Station from ground level for a single time. The subway system in Shanghai is so convenient that you don’t even need to get outside of the station to travel around (unless you are really early in the morning I guess). There is actually an Hongqiao Airport just next to the railway station, one that is much smaller and older than the Pudong Airport on the east coast of Shanghai. So you are not completely wrong to say that the station looks like an airport.
As for passport check, it is pretty much because it is harder to have a unified system to scan all passports from different countries. If you are a Chinese citizen, you will have a second generation citizen ID card and you can scan it through the main entrance. Your ticket is also associated with you specifically (to prevent people from buying duplicated tickets and re-selling them for higher prices), so the information is actually recorded in your ID. You can simply scan your ID to board the train without even the need to print the ticket out.
For the broadcast it is just saying welcome and nominating the sponsors of the train. It also gives a little more detailed explanation of the smoke detectors on this smoke-free train and the consequences of triggering or damaging it (the train will come into an emergent stop and you might have legal responsibilities for it).
One thing I noticed is that the Chinese don't abuse you for not knowing their language unlike U.S.
Nice video. Brought back memories of the many trips I have taken on all sorts of different trains in China. FWIW, as of now, there is one G Train daily from Shanghai to Chengdu (11 hrs 10 mins) and 4 D trains daily (ranging from 12 hrs 29 mins to 14 hrs 42 mins). It's not just the speed of the train but also the number of stops that determines the duration.
Yeah thats why we stuck with the D train because the time of the G train didnt really suit us. Thanks for the info! 😀
Nice video! I love watching people travel around and experience new stuff. You have my 👍👍👍!
Thanks!!
just subscribed! looking fwd to more video. thx. please more scenic/greenery. have fun.
Check out our videos in longsheng and yangshuo! So green
welcome to China,Chengdu is a nice place.
How superb are Chinese high-speed trains? I'm just back from China, and discovered there are two types - high speed and very high speed. Beijing-Shanghai travelled at 350kmh and Shanghai-Nanning rarely reached 300kmh due to the number of intermediate stops. Great video.
Oh wow! Next time we will have to give a super fast one a go!
the G series can go out to 400kn/h and the D up to 300 but they had controled the speed downwards to 300 n about 220 respectively due to a previous accident
450 HSR is being tested right now

Thank you for the lovely video showing the beautiful sceneries and landscapes. 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏you both are lovely couples. I thought the high speed train won't take that long from Shanghai to Chengdu.
I hope you have a good time in my hometown Chengdu👍If you like natural scenery, I recommend Jiuzhaigou and Emei mountain!

I have seen and met many backpackers in New Zealand. Didn't realise you guys are exploring and experiencing every corner in the world. It's not easy backpacking in China as the language and the culture are so different from your native ones. But good luck!
Thank you! We loved exploring China, we found everyone so helpful 😁😁
LOVE China's trains!!! SUPER convenient way to travel! Thanks for the video!
They are pretty luxurious! We miss them in other countries! 😂😂 🚄
Nice job! Hope you enjoy the rest of journey in China! And allow me to give some suggestion about the itinerary if someone want to explore China from Shanghai all the way to the Western China Chengdu :) Shanghai → Kunming (8 hours by bullet train), then spend 5~7 days experience the most beautiful landscape in China which is Dali → Lijiang → Tiger leaping gorge → Shangli-ra, if you like hiking maybe it's better go further to the Meili snow mountain and have a nice hiking to Yubeng village and Camp one, after these you can take a bullet train from Kunming to Chengdu like 5 hours, I think it's better than take a 14 hours directly train from Shanghai to Chengdu, more relax and more amazing views:)
Those are some amazing tips! Though the train wasn't too bad in the end 😀
It used take me 19hrs by train from Shijiazhuang to Changchun....can't believe how much has improved in such a short period.
Chinese trains are crazy good
Your video makes me homesick! It’s hard to travel back due to the covid situation with 2 kids and our kids are missing everything in China too!

We recently took the G train from Fuzhou to Xiamen, and we took the business class seats. We were treated like kings! Free breakfast, drinks, slippers, blankets. There were only 5 seats in our coach. The stewardesses even helped us unload our luggage.
That sounds amazing. Was a bit out of our price range unfortunately. We hope to come back one day and try that out. 😀

I took the G class bullet train from Shanghai to Chengdu two times. Still it took me 11 and a half hours. It is more reasonable to take the D train money wise.
I thought the d and g trains are the same price. To be honest after you have travelled all day a few more hours either side doesn't make s huge difference. 😃
G train is more expensive than D train
chengdu is surrounded by a bunch of hills, and the train has to slow down to go through those hills. That’s why the Chengdu line tooks a relatively long time no matter with a Dclass or Gclass.

I still think it's worth it to take a flight for an over 1200 miles trip. Even though it's a bit expensive, if you plan ahead the flight is actually only 15% to 20% higher the price of this 14-hour train, and it took only 3.5 hours. You could save time and money for accomodation from the flight and enjoy the comfort. All these add up to the cost as well.
