Here in Indonesia we are building the 1st HSR in SEAsia , I think it will be finished in the end of this year.
The train station in China is so much better than here in Australia!
Chinese rail stations are way cleaner than most of the airports in south asian countries.
If you miss the train. Just go to the manual ticket office to change the next train. There is a train from Shanghai to Beijing almost every 15 minutes. Each ticket has one free chance.

It would be nice if China and India can resolve the border issue, but we all know it was the British who set up such a conflict before they let India return to independent.

Flight times are irrelevant because of all the hassle at the airport and car commuting to and from the airport. Trains go directly to the city centre.
We splurged on business class seats and were treated like royalties. We got hot lunches, snacks, drinks, and even slippers and blankets. The traveling was very comfortable and memorable. We hope China will open up soon so we can make more trips. Thanks for your upload.
