I’ve recently bought the Blackzon Slyder turbo which is a Brushless mini basher, have some oil shocks on order as like you say the friction one are pants.
But for less than £100 it’s been amazing fun, and it was from a local RC shop called Jadlab

I grabbed a hbx 16889a pro for 70 euro 3 lipo and charger inclided. Brushless, greased all around, pil shocks, it is so much fun and the price is absolutely fair for what its purpose is.
Looks like a great little guy. I went with the 14mt for better parts support. It’s awesome. I wish there were a stiffer motor mount and metal spur gear but it’s pretty awesome.

That is insane! for that scale 20-30 MPH is more than fast enough, they get really squirrelly really easy.
I only run 2s in my mini E-Revo vxl and it’s powerful enough 3s would be insane
with those upgrades stock it would easily be a competitor to the HBX Ravage

Hey Phil, You should do a review on the Losi 22s SCT. I'm thinking of purchasing one but there are not many good review channels on it.
Because you can get a much better sct for less or the same amount of money. The 22s SCT is a flop.

Pulled my old Tamiya out the loft the other day, Its a old Manta with a square body truck shell and its not well. lol, Its been collecting dust for ni on 30 years. Battery took a bit but nothings happening. Maybe the Futuba metal aerial radio gear i have needs new batteries too (after 30 years id say so.) Id say its time Adult me fixed teenage me's hilarious bodges.

Latrax teton is a good platform for a mini basher. I have a 3s brushless system in mine. You have to upgrade to metal dog bones and shim the diffs to stop them stripping but other than that it's solid.
Had a couple of LaTrax. Killed the servos pretty quick… but they are not bad. Better stuff out there now though

Very fun! Perhaps the ESC from your SCY 1610X jeepy-bodied thing you tested would be a better fit. I believe people have successfully run those on 3s a bunch.

I'm hoping to make a fun miniature version of my Big Rock out of one of these soon, I already have the motor and ESC I'd like to run in it.y but was curious what the proper mod/ pitch for its pinion is compatible w this lil guy? Thx in advance for another great clip on how to upgrade these a bit as usual Phil!

Not to hate on the model you are showing us, but hands down, IMO the best basher from the 1/16 spectrum is the mini e-revo. Especially the vxl one. I hade one and put a HPI 540 brushless motor in it. It was a beast and very durable. People forgot that little thing since other brands started making smaller versions of their big cars. Obviously, the price of the traxxas is much higher.
But the metal is made of wax and the diffs are shocking.
My experience with mine was very different. Mine was the biggest POS ever and the best experience I had with it was selling it. I never made it through a single battery without it breaking, and that was just from running it up and down a gravel driveway. I maybe could have lived with it after upgrading to a bunch of aftermarket parts but the diffs would self-destruct and they were $40 each, so it was my most expensive truck to maintain. I liked the big E-revo, 4x4 slash and rustler, loved my 2wd stampede, so I really thought it was gonna be great but it was garbage. A friend of mine has the brushed version and brushless one and when I asked him how they’re holding up for him and he laughed. He practically begged me to take them but I told him to cram them. Lol
Yes, but how much is the VXL Mini E-revo. In the UK I think it’s the same price as a 1/10 Arrma 3s!

You should try an eazyrc Colorado. Metal shafts ,oil shocks ,brushless out the box and available from your local hobby shop! And even my son hasn’t broken it yet!

We call that butyl tape, it's used for windows that bolt in vehicles instead of urethane.

I slammed the MT14, put anti-roll bars on it, and slapped some WR8 street tires on it, thing can HOON and still pull a backflip. It's body slaps the ground on big jumps but it can still pull them off.

I've been looking for a new 1/16 to upgrade. I've got a sg1603 that's been eaten by my dog. It's brushless system is fine and quite good imo and has a gyro. I do want my dog to eat it again, just this time outside.
What size motor and how many kv. I have ftx truggy and think I’ve gone too high kv with brushless conversion

the bump in power is perfect, though it does shorten the life of the diffs.
Can you even shorten the diffs life anymore than it already is 😅

I found an abandoned RC car in the park next to my house here in Tokyo. There are a lot of kids around, I went through them all, none of them claimed it.
But it's just the car car, no controller. After much Googleing I found it's Kyosho TF-5 from somewhere around 2006....
What do I need to make it run? Controller, obviously.
How to "mate" it?

I don't know if you or anyone have done this video yet, but could you do a comparison of the hbx 18859a, the 1/18 arrma and the traxxas 1/18. I've tried searching for such video and can not find it. Since I can't afford to buy all 3 I was hoping maybe you could. It doesn't have to specifically be those 3 I just feel they would be the most similar in size, style, and power.

The nice thing is that companies here in the USA like likeHobbyzone, Helidirect, and AMain Hobbies started carrying cheap bashers like the MJX Hypergo, UDI, WLtoys, EaZRC Brands, and FMS. They plan on carrying more of the cheaper brands. That way we don't have to go through Bangood and all that. Helidirect is really expanding its inventory with cheap bashers and RC planes. I hope other companies start doing the same.

This is a great project and the little truck performed very well. I could see kids or adults taking a small basher and putting in their backpacks and bicycling to a skatepark or where ever to run them.

Why not LC Racing EMB Truggy or buggy at this scale? It is incredible value for the money. It comes with oil shocks, brushless fast motor, hobbywing ESC and actually hits the claimed speed. It even has a metal chassis!

Why didn’t you choose the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator for your travel basher bro? It’s the perfect truck after you do a couple of minor upgrades… it handles and jumps like an absolute dream. Get a new carbon fiber edition. Because that hasn’t been beat down😳. Anyway, get a new one, put the speed gearing in, replace the thin shock screws with nice standoffs of your choice of the screws will bend/break. Now set the gyro to 20% and you TRULY have the perfect travel basher🐒💭
