The size is actually what kept me from ordering one. I went with the brushed MT10 instead. Tower Hobbies is closing them out and I had a coupon so it was only $175. I then ordered a Hobbywing brushless 3660 set up for $90 and I think I have a great truck for $265!!
What would the cost have been had you just ordered a brushless MT 10 in the first place please?

It's a blast eh? I ordered one the day it was released and haven't regretted it for a minute. It's got more bang for the buck that anything else in its price range. I love their suspension too. It's a very dialed truck for the buck. I just wish it was a proper 1/10 scale. I dont know why the didn't. Just would have been more plastic. A quality truck for the money like this shows how much of the cost on the bigger names is sheer profit. On to something else,full congrats to Kev for his deal with primal! I was blown away the other night when I saw primal promo for the "game over" limited edition. Then watched Kevs latest video yesterday where he introduced and demo'ed it. That's a sick truck.

@@peterschart no that pre-sale is still ongoing and all shipment only begins on March 18th. Afaik, only CZcamsrs etc got theirs, and typically without even ordering.
The handling on that truck was really quite impressive.

Yes, it was very good. The little montage of it jumping (where I wasn’t talking) was all one handed. The rest… 2 hands 🫡
This is an excellent review. The diff issue is almost funny. The little truck looked great on the off road track and seem to land very well. The battery damage is an example why it's best to have a hard case lipo.
sticky velcro in the battery tray and on the battery works for my 2s 2800mah! alongside battery straps of course. but since most batteries including mine are softshells, i figured making sure it doesn't get dinged is a good priority. still looks factory!
Been waiting for this review. Seems like a good buy! I like that it's on the smaller side, that works better for me and the areas I actually get to run my RC cars.
Is mini 1/10 scale the same as mega 1/14 scale ? 😂 Think they'd have sounded more impressive marketing it as 1/12 scale with a beefy 1/10 scale drivetrain.

I expect to see those shock mount screws bent on every review since your video came out. I was hoping it was just a really bad unlucky landing.
Yeah… and then I snapped it yesterday making another (random) video with it. I’ve ordered the upgraded ones, so should expect them in about 3yrs 😅

I just ordered mine, carbon fiber and extra upgraded shock tower screws, i see that its the first thing that breaks. Being smaller then a true 1/10 is perfect for me, itll fit in my gym bag nicely.
Nice one Tomley! I'll chalk that backwards diff business up to a FNG mistake. Every time I see a video on this truck though, it impresses me even more. Good job Rlaarlo!
Yeah, shame it was not working out the box. Although plenty of mistakes from all manufacturers from time to time. Hopefully it’s a 1 off

I like Rlaarlo. I have a 917 and a 787. The quality control is a little suspect but you get a lot of RC for your money. I learnt from my experience with the 917 to go completely through my 787 when it arrived. Usually not enough oil in the shocks or some small parts missing. But don't let that put you off. They will get better at it and the cars are fantastic for the price.
Add the AM -D12. It's also AWESOME!!! Handles great!

Seen those screws bend on other videos, it seems like they used soft metal screws, I'd change the one on the shocks straight out the box and put some foam on the bottom of the battery tray to stop the battery sliding.
Which screws just ordered one and would like to know
@noahblanco677 on the upper shocks, but I'd just replace all the screws. It's no good having soft metal screws. The heads can strip easily, so can the threads or if over tightened they the heads can twist off leaving the screw stuck in, and then you need a screw extractor. It's like when companies use cheap gun metal diffs. Hence, personally, I'd just replace all the screws.

Looks like a cool little truck, have one on order. As for the diffs, I had a similar issue on my AK-787. Not reversed, just they had the front diff filled with lighter oil than the rear. Made it a pain to keep in a stright line under hard acceleration. switched them around now dives like a dream. Did a vid not great but its there :)

This would be a serious next step up from the 1/16th stuff out there, not only in terms of size, but also quality as it seems. Don't me wrong, the HBX, MJX, etc. 1/16 stuff is great, but this seems to be a far more serious car before switching to "big boy" stuff like the bigger Traxxas, Arrma or Rival cars. Will put that on my "to consider" list :)
I have 2 hyper go trucks for my kids and this just looks like a bigger version.

after watching this thing jump, it handles like a car much bigger than its size. rlarrlo hit the nail on the head with this one. i agree that it is more along the lines of a "1/11" scale than 1/10, but 1/10th sizing seems to just be a ballpark figure with some of the smaller company offerings
It's a 1\12 scale looking to me, but I guess rc companies can call it any scale they want regardless of the actual size. Love the channel and a big fan

@TomleyRC I think it will give traxxas a run for there money. The thing is I'd never heard for the brand until I saw it on your channel. I'm quite new to the hobby. And think people just think it's traxxas or not good enough. Which isn't the case. But I do own a traxxas stampede 4x4 vxl which has been modified. And I like the way you put an element of fun in your videos, makes you want to go and bash your car afterwards.😀
As always it’s not always the size that matters but the way you use it !
It's too bad these brands keep claiming 1/10 scale when they're really much closer to 1/12. But that aside, what a great little basher truck. Awesome review.

Its worth mentioning the stock servo in almost every traxxas car is the 2056. it has plastic gears and 5.6 kg of torque.

I have that and its older brother 2996a and theyve been great under $200 bashers

❤Phil put the battery in a tin for a week ,open the tin and if it doesn't smell sweet it's safe to charge but make sure you tape it up good over the foil spot

Phil, in 0:32 it's not 1/10 scale it is "1 to 10" RATIO. Read that again :) "The oversized gearbox with 1:10 RATIO GEARS assembled"
You said it well Phil. The biggest “fopar” of this particular truck to me is Rlaarlo’s QC dept. letting letting this one get away with a diff installed backwards, Especially when it was being sent out to a channel as big as yours for review!😝
Aside from that, this thing seems to do everything well. All the materials seem robust and hold up very well to all the abuse you could dish out in a single lipo pack. I’m not going to say it’s indestructible, as everything has it’s breaking point. To me it definitely can hang with those “Brandyer”brands when comparing performance and toughness. That’s saying a lot for this new and upcoming company! One thing they do that the others don’t is consider and factor in consumer concerns, needs,and wants in their future line ups. The big 3 don’t do so well at that. I dig your review on this. Well done Phil and very well done Rlaarlo! 👊🏼💯‼️
The review didn’t disappoint. I have been waiting patiently for mine, but I'm not so patient now! Btw, There is a bigger pinion gear that has made quite a bit of difference to the speed in other reviews I've seen.

Well Impressed with this other than the size stated. I'd go for the carbon one add electrics for an extra $10. and then paint my own colour. I'm really thinking of buying one now. Sweet landings Mr Phil.

Got my order in for a carbon just after the pre-orders went live. I'm getting itchy fingers now though (roll on 18th March).
I have mine already ordered, here in the US I was told by the end of this month they should be sent out the first pre-order shipment so hopefully my diffs aren’t switched like yours lol.
Been on the fence about what RC to buy, this is the one for me.
One more thing, the gears have more surface area were they contact there for a stronger gear. Cheers from Australia.
✌🏻😎🏴I know scale isn’t always accurate but I’d say it looks closer to a 12th scale. I bet tons of other people are saying the same thing too. They should put the wheelbase on all of the boxes.
Nice little truck. Seems to perform extremely well. The nose diving is probably an easy fix. Probably just need some shock adjustments 🙂
