Women date men a couple years older than them but when they turn 40+ they date men a couple years younger. There has been studies on it so it's just a fact. The reason behind it isn't anything toxic.

I'm a few years younger than her (40), and i would feel like i was taking advantage of someone that much younger. They are just starting. That's their time to have fun, learn what they want to do, make mistakes, and i don't want to hinder that. I would hate being the reason someone didn't go to college, more to a different country, or do what they want to do with their life. Those are exciting years you can't get back, and i'm not stealing them from someone just to feel young again. like ken said in the last video, i love getting older.
I know, it seems very selfish if you ask me? And besides, being trendy (like those young people) takes a lot of effort especially to fit in. Now that I am much older, I am glad that burden has been lifted.
I get what you say. And I agree. I have been there. Afraid to hold back someone. But my BF who were 23 and I 38 when we got together, already knew what he wanted, (He knows it more than me đ€Ł) And still 2 years later he is in that same spot. We have waited with moving in together, so he is still free to do whatever he wishes. My point is, in some cases it can work. It depends on the people involved, and their common wishes and the ability to give eachother space when needed, and also the support to follow their dreams. I found my best friend at the same time. It helps that we have the same intrests, wishes for the future and look on life. When I was in my early 20's I had a kid, and I mostly raised him alone. But I don't feel regret for a second that I choosed family over "living life". And with my kid I both studied and moved to another country. And trust me I still do mistakes đ€Ł My point is, in a healthy relationship, no matter if there is an age gap or your the same age, a good partner will still let you be you, still let you grow, learn and explore. I think this just has to do with personality, and that you both are in a place in life where most of your needs and wishes is compatible. In my case it might also help that I don't act like a typical 40 year old. đ€Ł

@@MaidenViking_ I'm similar (21F turning 22 next month and bf is 38M, together for 2 years/met 3 years ago), we've never met anyone who's more compatible for us than each other, and we have the same vision for the future even though our ages are years apart so it works. He's not holding me back in any way, I'm still going to finish uni and follow the career trajectory I want to with him by my side. Though temporarily that means I'm a 2 hour drive away, but it's worth it for us because of the future we want to create together. And we wouldn't want to spend it with anyone else. I was initially scared to settle down that quickly knowing how I hadn't even lived through my 20's yet, but I realised that there wasn't anything that I really wanted to do apart from focus on my career, and that stability really appealed to me, it's reduced my anxiety so much actually.
So people can argue that age gap relationships have no longevity because you're at different stages of your life, but it all depends on the individual, I mean you get people having kids at all sorts of ages for example, so yeah, it depends is all I can say really đ€·đ»ââïž

This kinda reminds me of a reddit story about this girl who was born to a teenage mom (the whole her mom was shipped away to her relatives to have the kid kinda thing) and the dad never knew. So later in life, the girl and her dad somehow meet and begin dating and only find out their relation when she brings her home and mom gets shocked and tells them... They still continued dating for a while after but thankfully eventually broke up.
