    ALERT: I planned to replace the bulbs per the video. Took my car to my mechanic for brake work. Dennis saw the bulbs on the seat. When done he said "No Charge" for the bulbs. He showed me how he reached back, removed the round covers, and replaced both. Not sure if his hands are smaller than normal. He said no need to remove the headlight. Took him 5 mins.

      Wow! That would make the job much much easier. All the other vehicles I have made headlight bulb replacement on, you can change the bulbs without taking the headlight out. This was the only one where I couldn't figure out how to and thus had to get the entire headlight assembly.
      Can you share with us how Dennis did it?

    Great video. Very concise yet thorough. I may have been lucky, but I suspect watching a few different videos and this one in particular made the process very short--suspiciously short! (kudos; it's the best of all other videos on this topic). The video showed the two bottom plastic clips into which the headlight assembly fit. I noticed the clips were raw plastic, so I thought a spray of silicone lubricant on the bottom clips on both the assembly and those in the car would help. And it did. I couldn't even get the telltale click sound (which worried me, but after tugging again and again on the headlight assembly with still not clicking sound, I felt confident that the clips had engaged) The three 10mm and 12mm bolt holes aligned perfectly. I also put a tiny bit of silicon lubricant on the horizontal plastic flap (left) and this seemed to help as well. So, thank you for a very informative video--and to my can of silicon lubricant for saving me a lot of heartache!
    BTW, my 2014 Elantra SE's manual showed the high beam bulb as H1 (one prong), but the one already installed (OEM) was an H7 (two prongs), so I will have to remove the assembly again when I have the correct bulb. Fortunately, the current one is still good--it's the original OEM bulb. I wanted to change it because I didn't want to go through the hassle again, but the gods decided otherwise!

      No need for a CANBUS or decoder just plug and play. I can verify it for the fog lights. I am assuming it's the same for the headlights as well. I tried upgrading the headlight bulbs to LED on 2017-2018 Elantra no problem. This being the older model, it's very likely you shouldn't have issues for it.

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  Před 4 lety +1

      Glad you found the video useful. Moisture issues could be a number of things, most likely being that there is a rubber seal sealing off the headlamp unit, that rubber seal may have cracked/and that could be letting moisture buildup inside the headlight. Sorry, but I can't be more specific without having actually looked at your headlight.

      Sounds good Lisa. Good luck! Hopefully you are able to figure it out. I don't see a reason as to why they had to clean it in the first place. Those bulb housings are supposed to sealed and the only time you do have to open them is when you have to replace a bulb. I have never had to just clean the headlight from inside as part of routine maintenance. I hope they didn't charge you much for this

      its a manufacture defect??; i never had any accidents or anything and i have low KM 60k;
      anyway i have to see whats going on cuz the driver flasher in front is not working again after not working in Feb 2020 and they just cleaned it of rust and dirt and moisture; same thing for the other side; never changed the flasher bulbs either side just cleaned;

      I know in 2014 they made slight changes to the headlight. It was part of their mid-cycle refresh. The vehicle I used in the video was a 2013 model year. And the main change they made to the 2014-2016 was the DRL. I don't remember but I think the DRL for your car is the LED strip. If that is the case then I am not sure how you can replace it.
