When Tapper told that Moore supporter that you can swear on any religious doctrine you like, the look on that supporter's face was priceless. Like he just saw the universe exploded before him.
You don't even have to use a religious object. If I was going to take a government post, I'd likely get a copy of the Constitution to swear on, because THAT is the supreme law of the land and it explicitly states (in the ORIGINAL, pre-Bill of Rights!) that no religious test shall ever be required for someone to take office. It's obvious from that alone that this imbecile has never read it, and if you can't trust someone to read the Constitution, then how the hell are you supposed to trust them to uphold it?

It's always been a secular country since its founding. Christianity is the dominant religion of its population, but the United States is an explicitly non-theocratic country that recognizes no state religion. This is by design, and if you're a religious person that enjoys being part of a Christian majority, you should be happy that it is, because the separation of church and state is exactly why the US is alone among developed nations to still have as much religiosity as it does.

Why would Bannon brag about being born in the capital of the confederacy? How is that something to be happy about? Somebody help me out here please.
It's as simple as it sounds.
He was talking to a bunch of people who think the confederacy was awesome, and wanted to portray himself as one of them.
