- Today I'm at Las Tortugas Taqueria in Sterling Heights, Michigan, attempting their Street Taco Record Challenge! Challengers have one sitting to finish as many of their specialty street tacos as possible. Right now the record is at 55, set by competitive eater Joel Hansen. Winners get a % of the meal free, dependent on how many tacos you eat, a shirt, and go up on their wall of fame. If you are unsuccessful, you pay $2 per taco and take home leftovers.

Wowsa, Nathan! That was quite a feat beating Joel's record with all of that wait time factored in. That's a real handicap, but you powered through it all! 🙌🙌 you really are a world-class eater now. Not only do you hold the 50 state record, but you are also showing your capacity in your eating. That was a lot of tacos! One commenter said all those tacos would like 10 1/2 pounds? Hi Nathan - I didn't realize that was Joel's record that you beat. Joel is a Fantastic eater as well. If each of those 56 tacos weighed 2 oz, that's 7lbs. If they are 3 oz each, that's 10 and a half pounds. No wonder you are full!!! Congrats. Thanks for the video

Another unique challenge! The increasing discount is a really interesting set up. I wonder what other challenges it’d work with. Maybe sliders? 🤔
Even though it was a one sitting time limit, time is still of the essence. There’s only so long before your stomach realises you’ve just eaten more than 50 tacos 😅. It was interesting to get some insight into your thought process as you waited for the next tray.
55 tacos sure was a lot though! Great job beating the record, especially since you weren’t planning to do so, and congratulations on the, uh, discount!! 😅🎉

lol, I was a noob and didn’t use the limes. Cactus was really good! I had a wide variety of proteins, pretty much everything they had that I liked.

I tried the el pastor and barbacoa. I avoid the steak because it can be tough on the jaw. Cactus was really good, juicy, kind of like a cucumber if I had to explain it. Very mild. Appreciate you 😁

Maybe! It was a really busy day so they tried their best to get them out quickly. It was kind of a game I played with the numbers, makes it kind of interesting!
